Avatar 9:45pm JakeGhould (Scary):

I think I am going to drive around town on NYC in a white van with WFMU stickers covering the window and hand out small pieces of pipe filled with candy. The kids will like that, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm melinda:

hi Daniel and everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm chresti:

storm? where?
Avatar 9:49pm coelacanth∅:

Jake maybe you can rent a good humor truck for that
Avatar 9:49pm TDK60:

Oh! The bassist from Wire!
Avatar 9:51pm coelacanth∅:

hey, chresti! (@8.58) yes a few times and they're phenomenal. my guess is better, technically speaking only of course, than nirvana was live. these guys are brilliant musicians and they're practically free of any substances that might -shall i say, "disrupt" their performance. they also play all the lesser-known songs that only people who truly dig nirvana would know. another + is that they don't try to look or act like nirvana.
...i'm probably not going though. last bus leaves soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Daniel Blumin:

melinda, greetz! chresti, around here in jersey city and its environs!
Avatar 9:53pm JakeGhould (Scary):

  10:04pm P-90:

Nick Mason BETTER bring that show to the US
Avatar 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

i'd check that out
Avatar 10:07pm TDK60:

I saw countless wandering zombies on the streets and subway today, hypnotized by small glowing pads. It was unsettling. // I can't think of a costume. Mystic? Satire? Surrealist?
Avatar 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

(...saucerful of secrets)
Avatar 10:11pm JakeGhould (Scary):

Look at this van! Now this is something! Better than that stupid bomber loon balls crappy van. www.cvltnation.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm chresti:

tennis ball. that's a costume?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Daniel Blumin:

Unc M! Thanks fer the earses, katharsis!!!
Avatar 10:16pm JakeGhould (Scary):

I have a friend who was traumatized as a kid because her mom dressed her as a “Die” not a pair of dice with another kid but a single “Die” so she had to explain her costume all night and people thought she was a loner because there was no other “Die” with her to make it dice.
Avatar 10:17pm TDK60:

I may have said this before (another FMU show?) I knew a 7-foot tall fellow, every Halloween dressed as the Green Giant, rolled a big spliff the size and color of a cucumber. I tended to follow him round the partee for some reason...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm chresti:

gah! that van is beyond!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm chresti:

for and against egglike
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm melinda:

The van is a different kind of awful.
Avatar 10:23pm TDK60:

What? An egglike van? I'm lost.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm chresti:

that title alone deserves a star
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm chresti:

egglike music
Avatar 10:28pm JakeGhould (Scary):

Here is a van with an egg theme. mumbrella.com.au...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Daniel Blumin:

Scraps! Backatcha!
Avatar 10:28pm coelacanth∅:

i'm all for egglike, if it's eggs we're talking about.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm chresti:

I'm afraid to look...
Avatar 10:30pm coelacanth∅:

it's bad but i'd be much less embarrassed to drive it than the other one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm chresti:

it's promoting inbreeding?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm chresti:

not as scary as the first one
Avatar 10:35pm TDK60:

I've got it, I'll go as a Pumpkin, but it'll be subtle and I'll neglect to answer "What *are* you?" questions, but pass out tracts.
Avatar 10:41pm coelacanth∅:

i considered wearing orange and orange face paint and just being as disgusting and scary as possible
Avatar 10:42pm coelacanth∅:

(...to be a jack-o-lantern, of course.)
Avatar 10:44pm TDK60:

Coel: of course. / Anyone going to the NYC Halloween parade? I go some years, not every.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Scraps:

Scary jack-o-lanterns are much much scarier on about christmas
  10:46pm chresti:

something involving an orange vest, costume- wise
Avatar 10:48pm coelacanth∅:

haha Scraps true they don't often age gracefully
  10:48pm chresti:

Yeah, can’t go wrong with a painted face.

Most of the kids around here are already afraid of us
  10:50pm chresti:

Ha scraps!
Avatar 10:51pm coelacanth∅:

as far as i know i haven't had a trick-or-treater come to my door in several decades.
Avatar 10:55pm TDK60:

..this D.F.H. track is powerful..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I went to the parade in Greenwich Village a couple years ago. The highlight for me was when the Yips came by. I started looking for Joe McGasko at that point.
Avatar 10:57pm TDK60:

I may go this year, not sure, weather, mood, y' know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm chresti:

This whole set is totally great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm Scraps:

We haven’t had trick-or-treaters since we moved in, four years ago. But I’ll bet the one year that we didn’t have any candy, that’s the year we have disappointed children
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm chresti:

dig that music behind you
  11:00pm neven:

Daniel! Locked in from Ottawa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm chresti:

we put out a bowl of candy- they won't touch it- if it's inside the gate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Scraps:

Dog Faced Hermans is never old
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm chresti:

I'm all over Halloween!
Avatar 11:05pm coelacanth∅:

the beggars would have to walk up a dark, decrepit driveway then up 5 narrow, decrepit steps and across a decrepit wooden deck to knock on my door, which is the only entry in the back of the house. i'm not buying any candy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Scraps:

whichever story it is today!
Avatar 11:06pm JakeGhould (Scary):

“Okay, you got us… Yeah, we kidnapped this guy and interrogated and dismembered him alive and—as a result—killed him, but at least we are honest about it, right?”
Avatar 11:07pm coelacanth∅:

my last apartment was on the top floor of a 3 story house at the end of a dead-end road; so i never bought candy for the 11 years that i lived there either.
  11:10pm chresti:

Our porch is partially eaten by termites
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Scraps:

Can I eat?
Avatar 11:11pm coelacanth∅:

2 hours sleep? luxury.
  11:11pm chresti:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Scraps:

Avatar 11:16pm coelacanth∅:

sure, i'll have a beer.
  11:17pm chresti:

Unfucking believable-the stuff that’s happening in plain view
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm Daniel Blumin:

  11:23pm chresti:

Wow this is great
Avatar 11:23pm Franco Twinkie:

Daniel! I love your wry spin on the news.(Un)Reality check amongst the holiday festivities.Pumpkins cookies for everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm Daniel Blumin:

Yeah, chresti! Check out the whole release! It's wunderschnapps!!! Franco, it's the damn news, I swear!
Avatar 11:27pm Franco Twinkie:

I Know, Daniel. It's your tone,bro.
  11:27pm chresti:

We decked out the place for trick or treaters the first year, after moving in. Most of it is still scattered around, out there,12 years later
Avatar 11:28pm Franco Twinkie:

We do have the scariest house on the block.
Avatar 11:29pm TDK60:

..a pal criticized me for having too-scary sounding music on my porch one Hallo'een. {was it Fripp: 'Index of Metals'?}
  11:31pm chresti:

Daniels right about moving around, need to tone up for my Diver Dan costume
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm melinda:

I've wanted to put an alien in my window for Halloween but never done it. Just getting candy and maybe a small pumpkin is effort enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm melinda:

Last year I had power lines down in the street in front of my house, the block was a hazard but some families came through anyway.
Avatar 11:35pm Franco Twinkie:

I just put an amp with a reverb tank jacked into an old classroom record player with an old Folkways record of sounds from outer space REAL LOUD. Thats enough to keep the kids away.
Avatar 11:37pm TDK60:

I see Franco, wanted to keep all those Zagnut bars and kandy korn for yourself.. heh..
  11:39pm chresti:

TDK, exactly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm melinda:

I wonder if music from the Hearts of Space would be welcoming or scary.
Avatar 11:40pm Franco Twinkie:

TDK- It's more about keeping the kids off the termite infested porch. Hogging the candy is just a bonus.
Avatar 11:41pm Billy Jam:

another quality show from Daniel Blumin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Daniel Blumin:

Thx, Billy! Looking fwd to checking out yr Double Dee & Steinski archive!

Avatar 11:51pm TDK60:
