I'll join you in a second, just getting ready for the show. Save me a seat and a beer.

Eddie the Rat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Boom!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Webhamster Henry:

Hiya Otis!
Avatar 3:02pm Mr Fab:

Congrats to Georgy, that went swimmingly, and yup, the transition to Otis went like clockwork.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Webhamster Henry:

I'm on that Running In Place Record - good luck finding the cuts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Dutchman Jan:

Hi Otis,
connection with the Netherlands has been established now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Otis Fodder:

Hi everyone! Thanks for being here and being YOU! Snack bar open, come on and have some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Otis Fodder:

I hope I don't talk too much and go on forever, if I do just reach over and tap my shoulder. Or feed me something from that snack bar (fake news).
Avatar 3:05pm Mr Fab:

This crazy contraption might actually fly after all.

Rich! Hey, how'd you find about our secret-spy "soft launch"? I guess anyone can now see the station name on the WFMU home page if they look carefully enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Any hummus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm chresti:

only hums
Avatar 3:07pm βrian:

Those this is not within the scope of the Drummer stream? How many streams are there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Webhamster Henry:

You can't get to the stream yet from the web homepage, but you can from the WFMU App.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Rich in Washington:

Hey, Mr. Fab! I have underworld connections.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Webhamster Henry:

So far the stream's mix is a lot like the Las Vegas Grind compilations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Rich in Washington:

Ha! My mother's never heard my show and I am sure she wouldn't understand 1/4 of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

If you go into the Sheena's Jungle Room VIP room you'll find Liza and the ghost of Edie Sedgewick. True fact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Webhamster Henry:

It could also host archives from the old WFMU show "The Cocktail Hour".
Avatar 3:09pm Mr Fab:

βrian: this is a new station, joining Drummer, and Rock n Soul ichiban.

Ken wants to wait til after the Marathon, then really start promoting this station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Webhamster Henry:

Or "The Big Luau"

BLOODY HELL!!! This track is amazing!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Otis Fodder:

I have like 20+ songs of David Saelens. He will be played every week until I run out. From the mid-1990s Florida, self-released.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Otis Fodder:

I think Ave Maria on Saw, Disco will go well next.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Well, thank you for introducing me to him. Expanding my mind through radio! Today is a bloody good day :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Dutchman Jan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Otis Fodder:

I dedicate this song by Jan Lewan to you all !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This playlist is magnificent
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Otis Fodder:

If you are wondering what row in the record shop you wandered into, please let me know, i've been looking for a way out for years!
Avatar 3:27pm Mr Fab:

Jan Lewan has a polka/rap song about his time in prison. I am not even joking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Well,I'v been wandering round that same record shop for decades too so I'm probably the wrong one to ask. ;-) You know I love a good cheesy disco cover :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Otis Fodder:

I love that polka rap! The movie "The Polka King" with Jack Black on Lewan's story is worth checking out. I loved it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You had me at polka/rap
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar 3:36pm Mr Fab:

Doing great keeping up with the playlist Otis. Man, you'd think you and Georgy were old WFMU pros.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm chresti:

I heard you on the shirley and spinoza stream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Rich in Washington:

Yay, Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I want to say that Friendly Persuasion was where I first heard Barbara and Ernie's "Play With Fire" (which I ADORE). Way way back in the Exotica mailing list days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Awwww... thank you Mr Fab! :-)
Avatar 3:39pm Mr Fab:

Ah, shucks...*blushes*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wow. I used to get Factsheet Five back in the day. That was everything to me then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You better be talking about the 365 Project during this show cos that was GENIUS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Rich in Washington:

Zines were our internet. I remember making regular pilgrimages to Powell's Books' small press section and later Reading Frenzy just across the street and getting my fix.
Avatar 3:41pm Martinibomb:

I only learned about WFMU thru Evan Dorkin comics was super stoked when the live stream started and I could actually hear this mythical beast.
Avatar 3:42pm Mr Fab:

I discovered WFMU when Irwin would come out to LA and guest on KCRW. I was so stoked when it went online in '99.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Rich in Washington:

I don't remember how I initially found WFMU. Maybe I saw someone post something on a blog about a Halloween show by Ken Freedman in the very early 2000s and then my virtual 'dial' was stuck there.
Avatar 3:44pm Mr Fab:

since you mentioned it:
wfmujungleroom.blogspot.com

Lotsa fun stuff forthcoming on the blog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Webhamster Henry:

Milk & Cheese were big fans of WFMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Webhamster Henry:

WFMU doesn't do id carts usually!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Webhamster Henry:

This is a lot like my Swinger Phone Answering message:
www.echo.net...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Webhamster Henry:

Joah is a good track for your inaugural show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can't remember where I first heard about WFMU ... EML? But I used to blog for them about a decade ago (while secretly pining to DJ for them). I'm having such a great time tonight. It feels like the old days hanging out on EML. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Otis Fodder:

I've had it set aside for months, just waiting to play the magic, that is, Joah Valley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Otis Fodder:

Georgy - Every Friday is gonna be so much fun!
Avatar 3:54pm Mr Fab:

Has anyone REALLY ever successfully flattened out a warped record?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That made me cringe so freaking hard. My partner was laughing at me because of my cringe face. "Don't do that to records!!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Rich in Washington:

@DJ GeorgyGirl: That's almost exactly how I started DJing on KBOO in Portland; I started blogging on their website, doing web stuff, guesting on people's shows, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Rich in Washington:

I destroyed many a record trying the sunlight method. I've never successfully fixed one. I've made them just slightly better, but that's it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

PNW!! Yes! (I spent ten years of my childhood in Vancouver)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Rich in Washington:

Vancouver WA, or BC?
I am a VanWA native and still sort of live there (if you can call it a living).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

BC :-) My parents emigrated there in 66 (when I was but a wee babe), and then mum and I came back in 75 (to the UK) which is why I sound like a melted Mary Poppins. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Rich in Washington:

Golly - it's so great to hear you on the air again, Otis! I've missed your shows.
Avatar 4:00pm Martinibomb:

Martinibomb is across the river in Portland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, thanks! And 2 hours left, oh my.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Rich in Washington:

Indeed! Howdy, Martinibomb! Long time no see!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Webhamster Henry:

The Industrial Musical Force is strong in this padawan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Rich in Washington:

This logger record came out on Vancouver WA's Ripcord Records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Martini!!! Hello!!! I couldn't say hi to you before on my show cos of the whole "I'm a dipshit and I don't know where the comments stuff is" Fun fact - it was another page! I am a wiser person now :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Rich in Washington:

The recording studio still exists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Otis Fodder:

I hit DEL twice on playlist tracks! Saved it super fast, but oh yea, first take!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Otis Fodder:

Cool info Rich, love this album!
Avatar 4:05pm Martinibomb:

GG! No worries, I knew what was going on. Hey me and Rich did a show together in July. Happy Halloween Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Otis Fodder:

Sing the praises of Canada's Mississauga. Love this thrift store find. So proud!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Cool find!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Rich in Washington:

I want to have you on, Martinibomb. I have been overwhelmed with things lately, so have been slacking on planning shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm chresti:

there ought to be more songs about towns!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Rich in Washington:

Yes, a whole town show would be amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Otis Fodder:

I would love to hear that, I love songs about 'home'.
Avatar 4:11pm Mr Fab:

I started collecting songs about Los Angeles. Got to about 330 or so. I really esp. like songs about my native San Fernando Valley. Goes way beyond the Zappas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My friend Dr. Dan has a show on Mixcloud and he's got a bunch of us to do town/city/country based guest slots for him, so I'll make sure to get you links when they go up. :-) He's in Canada (Toronto) and I think he's doing the Canada portion :-)
Avatar 4:13pm Don-O:

Fab, I assume you know the song Ventura Boulevard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

365 days project!!!!! YES!!!
Avatar 4:15pm Martinibomb:

There are tons of songs about chickens. Any theories as to why? I think I read that Butt is the main subject now. There's tons of songs about Butt's in the last 20 or so years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Rich in Washington:

I only recently learned about Joah, via you Otis, I think when you guested on Irwin's show fairly recently, if I'm not mistaken.
Avatar 4:15pm Mr Fab:

Was amazed you have that one Don-O! I used to see the guy who did that song, Buddy Worth, in various watering holes around the Valley.
Avatar 4:15pm Martinibomb:

Keep thinking I'm going to make a Butt and Chicken mix soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hasil Adkins was *obsessed* with chickens, so that doesn't surprise me.
Avatar 4:18pm Don-O:

That song is more Valley than Valley Girl. In fact, that song will be in my first show as I'm doing a section on The Valley. Getting my urbanrat out of my system....temporarily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Rich in Washington:

I used to work at this place where my music played on my boombox would drive these assembly ladies across the way nuts, but when I played Lucia Pamela's Walking on the Moon, they would cluck along with it and would go "play that chicken lady song!".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You saying "chicken fucking" on air was a moment I never knew I needed but I did and now I feel complete.
Avatar 4:18pm Don-O:

SNUGGGGGGGLESSSS!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Webhamster Henry:

I knew Mr. Snuggles would come up for Michelle!
Avatar 4:19pm glenn:

oh, man. I always miss the chicken fucking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Rich in Washington:

The Space Lady is wonderful! I got to meet her about a year ago when she played the Hollywood Theatre here in town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Otis Fodder:

Michelle would love this version by Dr. Airlines. It reminds me of Michelle's version a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Rich in Washington:

This is a reminder that there is probably tons of craptacular music on CDBaby - but how to discover it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Otis Fodder:

I could make a truckload of cash selling watches that stop time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Dutchman Jan:

ah! familiar sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Otis Fodder:

Quick halfway mark of the show note. This is so much fun. Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It really is! I get to hang out and play and listen to brilliant tunes. Bliss. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Otis Fodder:

...all the frozen moments that we've known.
Avatar 4:36pm Mr Fab:

Well, so glad I offered you a show here at the right time Otis. Timing is everything. Well not EVERYTHING. But a lot.

You mentioned the World's Worst Records blog - that sites' author will have his show on here at some point in the future
Avatar 4:37pm Don-O:

If you must, Link!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 4:39pm glenn:

  4:39pm Nicola Dj Batman:

hahaha "Dear Mom and Dad" :D
Avatar 4:44pm glenn:

for what it's worth, colonel harlan sanders [the kentucky fried chicken guy, see how everything comes together] lived in mississauga around the same time tommy hunter recorded the song. make of that what you will.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Col Saunders lived in Canada for a while? I did not know that ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Dutchman Jan:

Pink Floyd should have hired an accordeon player in stead of an orchestra!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, I love that tidbit about The Col and Mississauga. I know, Tommy Hunter! The song is a gem too. Lotsa civic pride in that single.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Otis Fodder:

He does Echoes on this album too. Both are condensed to like 5min each!!

And he died 8 days after John Lennon. Wow. For some reason I always thought he died in the mid 70s after he sold KFC.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Dutchman Jan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, I love it pal. So many international artists here to play and so many linguistic interpretations. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Jan and I are in the future ... We come in peace! Although Jan is slightly further into the future than I am. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Dutchman Jan:

Avatar 5:03pm Mr Fab:

Gotta hear Jan-Jacques' "Echoes"! My fave non-Syd album by th Floyd is "Meddle."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Meddle's a pretty solid LP, isn't it? I'm gonna agree with you there. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

William Shatner's cover of "Common People" is beyond brilliant. I was genuinely staggered by it when I first heard it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Dutchman Jan:

Yep, me too. played it many times
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Otis Fodder:

it is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Who were the two middle aged women you had the copy of for the 365 project? It was one of those booth records and I think it was vinyl embedded cardboard. They were Long island/New York in accent and clearly were completely pissed as farts and didn't give a damn but it was brilliant.

If you can't wait til Otis' next show to get your Shat/Nimoy (and Nichelle Nichols!) fix, I've uploaded plenty of tracks by all those golden throats to the stream. But of course.
Avatar 5:11pm glenn:

I think pissed as a fart maybe ... possibly ... is slightly more drunk than a newt, but don't quote me ;-)
Avatar 5:16pm Mr Fab:

This is the best Godfather since a guy did a yodeling version on youtube a few years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Harold Smart - why does that name ring bells? Do I have something by him?? This track is phenomenal btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Otis Fodder:

Harold Smart has a TON of albums. Most are pretty standard fare... but the one to look out for is "Love Sensations" which is all, really great.
Avatar 5:20pm Don-O:

Is this from a movie??

I suspect that this live 'Do Ya Think' cover is from one of Otis' old MOFO tapes from the 90's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Otis Fodder:

It was on those old MOM tapes... and later put on 365 Days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Otis Fodder:

Chuck Wright... another organ album where there is one song as a keeper. This one is a gem though!
Avatar 5:27pm Don-O:

A moog and a organ in the same track?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

GODDAMMIT!!! Our Internet just cut out for about ten minutes and I missed that Mark Savage cover. Grrr. I played that years ago on Kitsch n Sync because I'd down;loaded it from 365 :-)
Avatar 5:28pm glenn:

seems reasonable to me.
Avatar 5:29pm Mr Fab:

Totally killer "This Masquerade". there was a bootleg comp called "Moog Spaceport Lounge," and that really sounded like something one would here in a Moog spaceport lounge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Otis Fodder:

I love Moog Records so much. Will be playing a ton on future shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hands up everyone who would quite happily live in a Moog Spaceport Lounge :-)
Avatar 5:31pm Don-O:

Beep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Otis Fodder:

Sheena in the future sold the Jungle Room and moved into the Spaceport Lounge where her business really took off!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Is that the future where me and Jan are? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Otis Fodder:

Jan's spaceship docks regularly at The Spaceport Lounge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That sounded like a euphemism. LOL!
Avatar 5:35pm Mr Fab:

Yep, plenty of Moogy goodness on this here station's stream. Wish NASA would do useful things like launch Moog space lounges instead of, y'know, weather satellites n stuff. Boooring!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Weather satellites are meaningless - just stick a bit of wet seaweed out the window. Boom.;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Otis Fodder:

Longtime WFMU friends, Optiganally Yours' newest album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Pay no attention to my demented ramblings. I've been up since 7am and it's now approaching 11pm and I might be dribbling a little. Haha! You're my friends and I wouldn't miss any of this for the world :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar 5:40pm Mr Fab:

Avatar 5:40pm Don-O:

Avatar 5:45pm Don-O:

Avatar 5:46pm Don-O:

Avatar 5:46pm Mr Fab:
