Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm chresti:

I never saw cheers- only beverly hillbillies and green acres together
Avatar 9:13pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Sam and chresti and future others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Sam Segal:

Chresti! A Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres crossover episode would've been a classic. Wait, are you saying that actually did happen?
Avatar 9:15pm coelacanth∅:

those 2 + petticoat junction all mixed in various formulations from time to time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Sam Segal:

Alright, in that case, I'd like to see a three-way cross-over episode: Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, and Cheers.
Avatar 9:20pm coelacanth∅:

beverly hillbillies, green acres, and third rock from the sun
Avatar 9:24pm coelacanth∅:

by the way Sam on my way home i passed Jeff, emerging from a saloon. his horse apparently had a few too many and ran off after a hot mare so Jeff's gonna be a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Sam Segal:

I knew I smelled alcohol on his steed's breath!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm chresti:

Avatar 10:04pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Uncle Michael:

No, Chico and the Man spun off from Sanford & Son.
Avatar 10:06pm coelacanth∅:

ah ok. i think that's about when i stopped watching tv. (coincidentally)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm Uncle Michael:

You look the same, Sam.
  10:07pm chresti:

A spin-off of you
Avatar 10:09pm coelacanth∅:

Jeff your soused horse just swayed back into the bar, alone. i said "why the long face?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Sam Segal:

Wait, @UM, are you saying Andy Griffith was a spin off?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Uncle Michael:

Yep. The character was introduced on the Danny Thomas Show.
  10:28pm chresti:

What was the show that had a Siamese cat who’s thoughts were voiced by ... was it eve arden?
Avatar 10:28pm coelacanth∅:

wow. ...and i'm still wondering what mork and mindy was a spinoff from. and laverne & shirley was a spinoff from happy days? don't remember those characters at all.
  10:28pm chresti:

Was it love that bob?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Uncle Michael:

Mork was from Happy Days, too
Avatar 10:31pm coelacanth∅:

- i guess that show didn't impress me very much! i watched it; but i never loved it. i liked the music and i liked the cars.
Avatar 10:32pm coelacanth∅:

chrresti i very vaguely remember that show, but... i got nothing.
  10:41pm chresti:

Yeah I wasn’t watching any prime time tv unless someone else had it on by the early 70s
Avatar 10:44pm coelacanth∅:

i looked and happy days premiered jan.'74 -i'm surprised i remember it as well as i do. i was already not interested in tv then. (actually i think i was never very interested in tv)
  10:50pm chresti:

I got into watching old movies and reruns of 60s shows, in 74-76
Avatar 10:59pm northguineahills:

Got here for the last hour!
Avatar 11:01pm northguineahills:

I only saw happy days in syndication in primary school in the 80s...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Sam Segal:

Welcome, NGH! You missed your pledge thank you...so THANK YOU!
Avatar 11:04pm northguineahills:

Avatar 11:08pm Mayuko:

Just woke up. Good evening, drummer comrades!
Avatar 11:11pm coelacanth∅:

hey Mayuko
Avatar 11:12pm Mayuko:

Hi, coelacanth∅!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Sam Segal:

Welcome back, Mayuko! Still jet lagged, I take it?
Avatar 11:14pm northguineahills:

Oh, and howdeez, jeff, I keep on missing Saturdays (will be on the road this Saturday as well).
Avatar 11:16pm still b/p:

Only caught Happy Days in bits in its day. When I've caught it since, the wretchedness of its lazy, vapid LCD grind asserts itself plainly. Networks didn't have to make almost any good TV until reent years. So they mostly...didn't.
Avatar 11:21pm Mayuko:

@Sam yah. apparently flying east-bound (from Japan to the US) is harder than west-bound flights, jet lag wise.
Avatar 11:24pm northguineahills:

90% of the shows I liked as a kid, are terrible when rewatching (even as a teen), I picked up on Mash reruns by age 6, and it kept w/ me that I did the theme song for a piano recital at age 8. Although, there' some filler, it holds up. Columbo also had some decent writing, even if it was formulaic (and I mostly watched that in the late 90s).
Avatar 11:26pm northguineahills:

Don't remind me Mayuko! (I love keeping nearly on based w/ the west-bound Pacific flights, and on the way back by the time I land, it's the third time I've seen the sun during the flight (at least it seems) (see Narita-O'Hare flights, ugh).
Avatar 11:27pm northguineahills:

errr... I love keeping pace w/ the sun on west-bound Pacific flights....
Avatar 11:29pm northguineahills:

Wow, the Supersilent I got was 11, I'm falling behind!
Avatar 11:31pm northguineahills:

the last supersilent... I give up....
Avatar 11:31pm coelacanth∅:

blind faith. maybe not derek and the dominoes
Avatar 11:32pm northguineahills:

Avatar 11:39pm coelacanth∅:

i didn't like the brady bunch as a child
Avatar 11:46pm northguineahills:

I once went w/ my wife as her as the log lady, and I went as the log.

The last Halloween I was in NYC, she went as Frida.

(I as the pop cultural misconception as Schrondinger's cat)
Avatar 11:50pm northguineahills:

I have this Luc Ferrari!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Sam Segal:

Log Lady and Log is an all-time great couples costume, NGH.
Avatar 11:53pm northguineahills:

I got to talk to Luc before he died, b/c a friend of mine performed and composed w/ him (dj olive). I might be the only person w/ the recordings from that Kitchen performance.
Avatar 11:57pm northguineahills:

(my log costume was ridiculous [she made it from felt, got twigs, gave me makeup [no more then her]. Her log lady was perfect, even got thrift store giant glasses for the look])

(I was tempted to break out into the Ren & Stimpy "log song" the whole time)...
Avatar 11:58pm northguineahills:

"So, though the uninformed say 'improvisors just play anything', in the presence of enlightened listening, improvisation is an object-oriented, highly structured real-time process of recursive composition" (Jair-Rohm Parker Wells, 2016)

I have plenty of Philip Corner vinyl...
Avatar 12:05am northguineahills:

What about Georges Brecht's "Bring a piano to water"?
