Hi Joe! Great ethereal voices. Very soothing .
  10:57am Jasper:

I love you for playing Kings. ...not that I didn't love you before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Hughie Considine:

@Judy, funny you mention major sevenths. Am reading Andy Partridge's (fantastic) "Complicated Game," and he talks about how major sevenths are inherently cheesy, which is why the ones he uses throughout "Roads Girdle the Globe" are all strangely inverted. i found it fascinating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am The Oscar:

I think that principle applies to "Where's the Beef" as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am adampsyche:

  11:08am Jeff formerly from Rahway:

“When you play it, SAY IT!” Yeah I love Belle & Sebastian too.
Avatar 11:09am Joe McG:

@Alex: I'm not much on videos, but I must have! @Oscar: That would have been good if I had it! Do you think it came out on vinyl?
Avatar 11:10am glenn:

i'm a dominant seventh guy myself.
Avatar 11:11am Joe McG:

This record is beautifully arranged.
  11:11am judy from croton:

Oh my. I think I bought the andy partridge book and it’s on some or all devices (apt description); must get to it. True; the major seventh is a cheap shot, but sometimes it hits the spot.oh, that rhymes. Better write a song!

Avatar 11:15am Joe McG:

@glenn: The label just says "The Cherry Bombs."
Avatar 11:16am Joe McG:

Trista, I missed you earlier. Hiya!
  11:16am Ochre Ogre:

B & S song is brilliantly arranged... "My place at 9:00" on Monday morning on WFMU.
Avatar 11:17am glenn:

we're both right.
"The Notorious Cherry Bombs, originally called The Cherry Bombs, was an American country music supergroup founded by singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell in 1980. A former member of Emmylou Harris's Hot Band, Crowell picked several former Hot Band members as his backing band, which he named The Cherry Bombs"

Avatar 11:23am northguineahills:

I forgot about that show....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Krys O.:

Rodney was Roseanne Cash's husband for a long time. They're both very cool.
Avatar 11:25am glenn:

major seventh is a half tone below the tonic, dominant seventh is a full tone. ie. an e major 7th chord contains a d sharp, the dominant seventh contains a d natural.
  11:26am PJ:

Rodney's not only a great songwriter and performer, but his memoir Chinaberry Sidewalks is fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Kelly Jones:

Joe has really, really good taste in music!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am kuba:

re: long blondes -- for me they are strongly connected to a music magazine i started reading back then: the kinda pretentious, influential, (and german) spex, which sadly just died after 38 years... so i relistened to their CDs, and there you go, the long blondes
Swag For Life Member 11:43am tadpoles:

Must admit to not knowing a good amount of these bands.....thanks for the introduction....nice to see the 45 still going steady into the future!
