Maybe the jersey City one just sucks

  11:10am davefromtoronto:

you sound like you need a coffee, michael.
  11:11am bobsmart567:

Ok then, that’s nasty.
Avatar 11:15am Michael Shelley:

I'm a decaf drinking man. Much happier since I quit caffeine (13 years ago)
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:15am Listener Baby:

Maybe the all time underrated drummer. Right here, right now.
  11:15am bobsmart567:

You now have to play Coffee Blues by Mississippi John Hurt
Avatar 11:16am glenn:

i'm pretty sure ringo is the all time underrated drummer, at least among non drummers.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:20am Listener Baby:

@Glenn. I would agree with that. But no one ever mentions Paul Thompson. He was something else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Art(uro):

I was thinking " I wonder if he's going to play Loser..." His best song!
  11:29am McGreivey:

...highbrow; you raised my eyebrow... ooofff... try harder. Great songn otherwise, though.
  11:31am McGreivey:

OK. Well, after letting that rhyme roll around in my head a few more times, I dislike it less and less.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am TheLoneliestMonk:

WBAI just gave lopate a show...for spite i hope!

WNYC is UNlistenable...and HAS been for quite some time.
no soup for youz!

I agree one billion percent.

Morning Michael!
Avatar 11:40am purpleknif:

This old fart agrees.
Avatar 11:41am Michael Shelley:

I've thought about it A LOT - and, for the most part, WNYC just doesn't speak to me - and it puzzles me who they think they're appealing to...
  11:43am TheLoneliestMonk:

@MS: the upr E & W side blue hairs...who write big checks!
  11:43am macks:

Agree on the halloween point OF COURSE, but whole heartedly disagree about 8th grade. I work with middle schoolers as a counselor and thought the problems in the film were very real (if tidied up a bit for the screen).
  11:45am TheLoneliestMonk:

remember the days when the cranks from 'BAI would basically go back & forth and have programs on BOTH stations?
RIP joe frank & steve post
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:46am Hughie Considine:

If the teachers want to give their kids a good Halloween scare, they should show that old film version of Shirley Jackson's The Lottery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Tommy in Neversink:

Tuning to the black keys would be pentatonic tuning. It's hard to hit a bad note that way
  11:48am TheLoneliestMonk:

but did he tune to 432 hz?
  11:48am macks:

^I also just liked the movie. It seems like most of the time when I see a new movie I leave feeling more out of touch and frustrated. This one made sense to me.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:49am Hughie Considine:

I get it, yet it's still kind of amazing to me that Chris Stamey is doing a Kickstarter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Jeezy:

Michael! Not sure if you're aware, but Stamey and Holsapple are playing an intimate show at City Winery in a few weeks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Michael! I literally gasped when this Byrds song started. One of my absolute favorites!

I pledged last week, can't do without my WFMU, and got my company to match.
  11:58am Bill W:

Steven Spielberg is the greatest American filmmaker of the last 40 years. Good night.
Avatar 12:00pm Michael Shelley:

Bill - What are you favorite 3 of his films? Mine: Jaws, Close Encounters and maybe The Post
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Listener Baby:

What was the Israeli one? That was really good.
  12:02pm bobsmart567:

  12:44pm andy fuchs:

If that's the case, someone needs to be punished.... :(
  12:49pm bobsmart567:

he said if they didn't give him the weekday morning show he'd leave...
  12:56pm paul:

Thank you, Michael.
  12:57pm andy fuchs:

Bob might have been pretty cool in the morning slot. I had hoped Jonesy got it when the competition was on for the slot (he would have done a great job and could use the gig), but Clay really does do a great job. Lots of choices, and I'm sure a difficult decision for all involved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Cooh John:

Remember this song when I was 7 years old. We ate it up.
