Hello in advance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Carmichael:

Current hello.
Avatar 3:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Good grief.
Haven't heard this show live in three hundred years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Carmichael:

Whoa, Art Blakey here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Irwin:

Yeah, that was a classic Blakey move.
  3:05pm mr_donutsu:

Ted Koppel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Asheville Jon:

really looking forward to the Kenny G today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Irwin:

Thanks for reminding me. KENNY IS NOT HERE. Had to cancel. Still doing his show in Monty Saturday night.
  3:07pm mr_donutsu:

I hope he remembers to call Stella...
Avatar 3:08pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Irwin! Others! Hullo!!!
THAT Kenny G? Really?
  3:08pm mr_donutsu:

Oh Kenny. No flangees for you Spidermaaaan!
Avatar 3:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

AH, among th'top three Stereolab tunes, this.
Avatar 3:13pm Listening Out There:

Correct plural form = "ingreasementi"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm melinda:

hi Irwin and everyone
Avatar 3:14pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Forgot about the Kenny G thing. Then was reminded and became happy. Now I am very sad. Kenny is destroying my metabolism. Very grateful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Passaic River Blues:

Yes, so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Carmichael:

Love the Stereolab! This is a great album.
Avatar 3:14pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Stereo lab I have memories of 1994. Listening to a Stereolab cassette on a mono player in an attic at the shore in Atlantic City in a $200 a month room in the attic for free building a metal hand about 2 feet long.
I also picked up a local college radio DJ. I phoned in from a payphone. She had cool taste in music.
  3:15pm Fashion Tashjian:

YesYes, the S-LAB!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Asheville Jon:

OH NOOOOOOO. i guess I'll just have to listen to some Kenny G archives to get my fix. :(
  3:17pm Laura L:

Maybe you can play a little something or other from Kenny G archives as consolation... A man in high demand!
Avatar 3:17pm Roberto:

Wait, Kenny G is going to be on?? Wait, Kenny G cancelled?? WTF IS GOING ON??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Carmichael:

Ya, did that clowndexter cancel? I hate him. Unless he's coming on. Then I love him.
Avatar 3:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Just give the lousy bum his old show back. Whether or not he wants it.
Avatar 3:21pm Roberto:

Yes, what Carmichael said! Curse you, Kenny G! I love you, Kenny G!
Avatar 3:24pm dk50b:

Alvvays can do wrong! Love everything I hear from them, one of the best out there at the moment.
  3:25pm zmzz:

no kenny.. good bye
Avatar 3:25pm Roberto:

Hour of Pain!
Avatar 3:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

the Hour of Pain, as well..
Avatar 3:25pm Listening Out There:

This substitute host today is pretty weird, isn't he?
Avatar 3:25pm Little Danny:

Wasn't there like a Tuesday Night Toe Jams or some such?
  3:26pm ?:

G-Spot smack-down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Parq:

Apropos Rev TD's suggestion, I think that giving Kenny G a show and having him not show up week after week would be very much in the ole' poet's style. Just air random sounds for the length of the show each week. Collages of real traffic reports, that kinda thing.
Avatar 3:28pm Little Danny:

No bad version of "Little Sunflower"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Irwin:

We'd love to have KG back on the air, but it was his choice to depart. He's busy doing a zillion other projects.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Irwin:

Little Dan: Remind me who wrote this. I fugget.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Passaic River Blues:

WFMU is number one, but Christian McBride is one of the reasons WBGO is my (very, very occasional) number two.
Avatar 3:30pm Little Danny:

I think Freddie Hubbard but I'll check...
Avatar 3:30pm Listening Out There:

Looks like Freddie Hubbard wrote it...
Avatar 3:31pm Little Danny:

Yep, confirmed
Avatar 3:33pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Sam Evian sounds a lot like The Shins.
Avatar 3:35pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello fellow Accu-Monkeys! Miss me? Wed 3-6 therapy appts, physical + otherwise, have kept me away. But a cancelation and here I be, enjoying the tuneage.
Avatar 3:37pm Hoboken Jack:

Popular fellow this Eric Church. Have enjoyed a couple of his songs.
Avatar 3:38pm flashbazbo:

They killed Kenny?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Irwin:

Hello, Jack. Welcome back. I know the MLB season, for you, is OVER.
  3:38pm berbo:

Spouse follows "Today's Hot Country" or whatever. Eric Church is one the few performers I find listenable.
Avatar 3:40pm flashbazbo:

Red Sox are in the series and I didn't know it til yesterday. I'm oblivious but not by that much. I guess we're getting a little jaded. Man I've been busy.
Avatar 3:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 3:45pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Berbo-I cannot stand Today's hot country, but I do like an obscure AM station that plays OLD country from the 50's-90's or so.
Avatar 3:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

lovely set, boss
  3:54pm berbo:

What if Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel collaborated on a version of "Caravan"? or would the laws of physics make that impossible?
Avatar 3:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Old man Gomez is up for FMU Mascot. Respect yer elders. It's the Time of Gomez. This is SERIOUS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm crateslinger:

I listen to modern country. It's just three chord rock and roll with a simple story and maybe a hook. Some pretty good songs actually if you just strum them on a guitar and sing. Makes the girls smile anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm crateslinger:

I find it humorous that every song has tailgate, a dirt road, a blue eyed honey in a baseball cap. Like the old momma, jail, and trains.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm crateslinger:

Female country singers are still taking on the patriarchy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm crateslinger:

I heard Irwin play Lady Antebellum once. "Hey Bartender" is a geat pop song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm crateslinger:

No sorry. He played "Downtown" Great song
Avatar 4:14pm flashbazbo:

There is nothing I believe more than when a country singer says he wants to get some mud on the tires. The unmediated humanness of it, the authenticity, the humanity...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm SSS:

ingreasements....sez it all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm crateslinger:

@flash, it's also post-ironic - for us at least. For them it was never ironic.
Avatar 4:20pm Roberto:

A shaft of gold when all around is dark?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm crateslinger:

tim mcgraw and taylor swift right here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm crateslinger:

Great Song! Thanks Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm crateslinger:

Dang and I thought Irwin was gonna play some modern country... Those first few notes had me going.
  4:25pm brainiac:

I don't think I could bring myself to admit to my therapist I listen to FMU. I'm too afraid he might recommend that I stop.
Avatar 4:29pm tape's last crap:

just joining -- irwin x KG?! two of my heroes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Irwin:

"Poop" was a Matt Farley cover. If curious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Mike Sin:

Very much enjoyed that new Oh Sees track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Carmichael:

HA Roberto! Python reference ...
Avatar 4:34pm tape's last crap:

matt farley, poop's poet laureate
  4:36pm judy from croton:

Oh what a song sad true
  4:36pm brainiac:

As opposed to Matt Foley, motivational speaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Uncle Michael:

Hello, Irwin and all you Irwinians.
Avatar 4:50pm Hoboken Jack:

Is Kenny here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Irwin:

Kenny not here. He be dutifully helping his wife. He'll be in Monty Saturday night for his Downtown '81 show, which is highly recommended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm melinda:

I like Let Forever Be.
Avatar 4:52pm Roberto:

Good catch, Carm!
  4:52pm berbo:

I head Kenny G reading at the Dieter Roth exhibit at MOMA some years back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm common:

Avatar 4:54pm jayjay:

Even withoutr noel singing, the melody is still pretty catchy
  5:00pm Miles:

wutsup Irwin?
Avatar 5:00pm Little Danny:

Thought it was Nirvana's "About a Girl" for a sec. Both great melodies.
Avatar 5:01pm jayjay:

It sounds like grandaddy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Passaic River Blues:

@Jayjay: Thought for sure it was Grandaddy.
Avatar 5:03pm jayjay:

Need to check if this was jason l singing.
  5:04pm Miles:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Parq:

The roots of Wing.
Avatar 5:04pm dale:

decent holiday inn band anyways...
  5:07pm spodiodi:

sounds kinda like hope
  5:17pm Garden Variety Lurker:

From wikipWiki: .Admiral Radley is an American indie rock band based in California, formed in late 2009 by members from the bands Grandaddy (Jason Lytle and Aaron Burtch) and Earlimart (Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Parq:

Google reports that Lourdes Arkin used to live in Flushing and has moved to Manhattan. Going on the assumption that it's our Lourdes Arkin, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I'm happy for her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Irwin:

No wonder I love that Admiral Radley track. Big fan of Grandaddy AND Earlimart. Thanks for the backstory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Irwin:

Wish there were more recordings by Lourdes. She's terrific. And I ain't being ironic.
Avatar 5:26pm Listening Out There:

Mad Skillet sounds a bit like Red Baraat...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Kelly Jones:

Invincible Bubble was awesome!
  5:29pm Dr. Goot:

Fantastic NY cover from Micadelia, thanks! - Goot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Irwin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Parq:

Aw now, this Neil cover is nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Kelly Jones:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Kelly Jones:

Now I'm into this Pat Martino thang.... really great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm maestroso:

Yeah, thought I heard Pat M.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Irwin:

Not typical Pat Martino.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Irwin:

Kelly, you in-house?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Kelly Jones:

I'm at me country abode, Er... ;(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Irwin:

OK, miss ya, babe!
Avatar 5:51pm glenn:

of course there'll be cereal. no milk, mind you.
Avatar 5:51pm Little Danny:

I love this extended 12-string freakout version
Avatar 5:54pm dale:

this is NOT the go go's?
  5:55pm spodiodi:

aww yeah
  5:56pm Ochre Ogre:

Wow, another excellent female artist discovery for me; Micadelia. Oh wait... Lucy and the Rats too. Thanks Irwin!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm PMD:

I just started this show. Was looking at home page. Thought it was music for the polkatastic banner
