Nick the Bard did Cassingles Going Steady this week!
Avatar 9:22pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Daniel & all
Avatar 9:23pm JakeGould:

I hope Nick the Bard had a lot of Bic pens and/or pencils on hand.
Avatar 9:24pm coelacanth∅:

i remember... last year it was only 9" records, and the year before just 8"ers. they didn't seem to be 3-hour shows though.
Avatar 9:25pm JakeGould:

That 4" record show was filled with DJs trying waaaay too hard.
  9:27pm takalado:

to rococo rot!!!! love those guys, fun show too
  9:27pm ggold way:

i tend not to put the seat belt on. new york state of mind.
Avatar 9:28pm coelacanth∅:

i don't think i have any 10" singles
  9:31pm P-90:

Good Evening. So what is the format and the rules of order for this convocation?
Avatar 9:31pm coelacanth∅:

i'd guess Storck but since he's not there yet i'll say Martha
Avatar 9:32pm JakeGould:

@P-90: The first rule is the last one to show up and ask about the rules buys the beers for everyone.
Avatar 9:34pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm chresti:

I have one or two in a box somewhere
Avatar 9:35pm coelacanth∅:

(i'm always wrong about every one so i'll stop now)

i have a stack of 10"ers, but they're not singles

hi blumineers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm diciassette:

Hello! I like this concept. I have 10"s scattered about, here and there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm diciassette:

I always cook on a 10" pan. I should start some spaghetti sauce (this is the right kind of music for it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Daniel Blumin:

Hola, chresti, grace gold way, Inc M, JakeG, Jaz-Paz, Kelly, coela, takalado, melinda, diciassette!!! Thanks fer tuning in all and welcome!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm melinda:

This might be Daniel as well
  9:53pm Jaz-Paz:

Daniel plays Daniel?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Daniel Blumin:

Yr welcome, takalado! Jaz-Paz! How did you know!?
Avatar 9:54pm coelacanth∅:

speaking for myself... my 10" collection is pretty far from representative of my current musical tastes -and from what i'd normally be playing if i did radio. i haven't bought a 10" record since probably the early 80s, and many of the ones i have were left to me years ago by much older people.
Avatar 9:57pm Franco Twinkie:

I just woke up and I see you played three of my favorites - Fall, Kendra, Mekons. Normally I'd be really pissed if I missed such a super blend, but since I was snoozing six feet from the speakers, I know I heard them in my dream state....So it's cool, man.
  9:57pm chresti:

I got the ones I think I have in the mid 80s
And most likely Jamaican
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm diciassette:

That's weird. I still run into them. Cocktail Mexico is really good. Also Lolita (by Lolina aka Inga Copeland aka Alina Astrova)
Avatar 10:08pm coelacanth∅:

i've remembered that i bought a 10" from some friends maybe 7-8 years ago (breakfast in fur)
jamaican,hey chresti? i'm intrigued

“If you love somebody, if you love someone set them free.” — Sting
  10:13pm Mike Wolf:

Chris Knox is kind of the Joey Ramone of NZ, not quite but kind of, status-wise, and also kind of the Roger Ebert of NZ, and also kind of its Garry Trudeau, and also a lot of things we don’t really have any analogs for.
  10:13pm chresti:

How is it possible to not hear the white album?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm melinda:

I like the DJ confessionals.
Avatar 10:14pm Franco Twinkie:

Jake, that is flawed logic. but if you want to set yourself free try leaving your record collection in the back of van in the Mojave Desert in August.
  10:16pm chresti:

Coel I have to go through the box-I can’t remember
Avatar 10:18pm JakeGould:

@Franco: All of my “records” are on my iPhone nowadays. If my iPhone is in the back of a van, then call Interpol and blame the Saudis!
  10:18pm chresti:

Ha ha!
  10:21pm chresti:

Jamaican record stores - you have to point at the record you want to hear and the guy behind the counter plays it
Avatar 10:22pm Franco Twinkie:

Hafta say...Saw Kendra last Christmas. She looked like a million bucks! You could hardly hear her, but she made up for it with some snake dancing.
Avatar 10:22pm JakeGould:

Mordant Music? Daniel.
Avatar 10:23pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm melinda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Daniel Blumin:

Franco, that's great! Greetz, Mike Wolf! TDK!!!
Avatar 10:29pm coelacanth∅:

haven't seen an image of Kendra Smith in a decade or 2, so i image-searched her just now and more pictures of Hope Sandoval come up than of Kendra! i wonder if that bothers her?!
Avatar 10:30pm JakeGould:

Stereolab? Jack Mello.
  10:30pm chresti:

The stores in la had some bins, to my relief, on first visits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm melinda:

I hear VU in this.
  10:30pm chresti:

Tuff Gong and Barton’s
Avatar 10:30pm coelacanth∅:

i guess if you had 2 labrador retrievers barking you'd have a stereolab
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm melinda:

@coel haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm diciassette:

If you had two golden retrievers you'd have two spaghetti vacuums.
Avatar 10:32pm JakeGould:

Scissor Girls? Martha.
Avatar 10:33pm JakeGould:

If you have two golden retrievers… You might be a redneck!
  10:33pm chresti:

Ha ha coel!
  10:33pm chresti:

  10:34pm chresti:

Avatar 10:34pm JakeGould:

A Handful of Dust? Jeff M… Unless Thomas Storck is out of MTA hell.
  10:34pm chresti:

Doh! Can’t get it right
Avatar 10:36pm coelacanth∅:

true and also 2 whole-loaf-of-bread vacuums (and maybe 2 dirty diaper, deer poop, used tissue, mouse poison, fiberglass insulation, chocolate brownie, jalapenio popper, and pretty much anything else vacuums)
  10:36pm chresti:

Could be Daniel...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm diciassette:

I picked a nickname that only Fabio could pronounce, for some reason. It's my favorite number in Italian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm melinda:

Golden retrievers are more bougie.
Avatar 10:37pm JakeGould:

If you have two golden retrievers… You might be a Clinton!
Avatar 10:37pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, I use to think Kendra was doing it on purpose, the mysterioso thing, but now I get the sense she is just a really private person who likes living in the woods. By the way. the enigma thing works for her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm diciassette:

If I had two golden retrievers I wouldn't let them anywhere near my spaghetti.
  10:38pm takalado:

hell yeah fame sucks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm melinda:

@jake haha. But they had Socks the cat!
Avatar 10:38pm JakeGould:

Reign? Daniel B.
Avatar 10:39pm JakeGould:

@melinda: They also are horrible. As much as I hate Drumpf, occasionally one of them will speak nowadays and I feel like a divorced kid who needs to live in a refrigerator box in Union Square.
Avatar 10:40pm coelacanth∅:

i wouldn't have 2 golden retrievers...but if i did...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm melinda:

I'm no good at this guessing the DJ. Except for the Russian selection.
Avatar 10:41pm JakeGould:

You will have better odds guessing the DJ than winning that MegaBillions thing.
  10:41pm chresti:

My brothers lab-rot mix is a super vacuum !
  10:42pm Tamar:

Hello calvacade of DJs, can you please tell Mr. Squirrel Carcass to turn on his phone or check his email? Grazie.
Avatar 10:42pm coelacanth∅:

melinda you guessed first (with some question maybe) Daniel playing Daniel
Avatar 10:43pm TDK60:

Ten inches! I have an old one, a Moondog 33&1/3 RPM from the early '50s.
  10:43pm P-90:

TDK60: thumbs up on performance?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Daniel Blumin:

Tamar, the message is getting delivered as I type!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm melinda:

I have a friend who has 2 golden retrievers and she does field trials with them. But not a redneck.
Also, I heard that Betty Curry the White House secretary adopted Socks at the end of the Clinton reign, so I guess they abandoned their cat.
Avatar 10:43pm coelacanth∅:

TDK nice!
  10:45pm chresti:

Ooo! Score TDK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm melinda:

@coel that comment was for the Novella Matveyeva. But if I had to guess on the Lentz that would have been my pick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm melinda:

Comb rules
Avatar 10:48pm TDK60:

P-90: The Bowie tribute? Yes! 3rd night of "Berlin Trilogy." ("Lodger", "Heroes," "Low"). Wasn't billed as Shearwater but that entire combo was there, plus more folks. Bowie geetarist Carlos Alomar conducted one piece, talked. Additional stuff by Eno, Klaus Schulze.
Avatar 10:48pm JakeGould:

Pylon? Martha.
Avatar 10:50pm coelacanth∅:

i have a few 10-inchers that were my aunt's (2 leadbelly; Charlie Christian; Woody Guthrie....), and my mother's former downstairs neighbor's (Cab Caloway; Jelly Roll Morton....)
and some late 70s & early 80s stuff
Avatar 10:51pm coelacanth∅:

melinda maybe my player is lagging behind
  10:52pm chresti:

Good haul coel!
  10:52pm P-90:

Would have LOVED to hear what Alomar had to say
Avatar 10:52pm Franco Twinkie:

I wish I had the energy to throw down and say "I have..." but I look at the place where those records might be and...nevermind.
Avatar 10:52pm TDK60:

The Moondog ("Moondog and his Friends") 10" is crackly-scratchy but plays. // Coel: Christian, Guthrie, Calloway, Morton: -> !!!!
Avatar 10:53pm coelacanth∅:

chresti, right? got lucky...though i'd rather have my aunt than her records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Scraps:

Avatar 10:55pm JakeGould:

Avatar 10:56pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 10:56pm JakeGould:

That’s all for my guesses.

I got my Official Ballot! And tomorrow I’m going to vote (early). It’s not like any of my votes is going to be close — western Washington is mostly solidly Democratic — but it will be satisfying. And I want to be one of those who are Enthusiastic. Cheers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Go, Scraps!
Avatar 11:06pm JakeGould:

I’m kinda shocked how right I have been on tracks. My brain is screwed up this week from tons of debugging of someone else’s crap code. And I almost took a nap just before. Maybe I should pick some lottery numbers and share with all.

Avatar 11:09pm JakeGould:

This is such a fun show!
Avatar 11:14pm TDK60:

I was very late to my only Stereolab show. (A lazy, late driver for our group was at fault. At least Sonic Youth was up 2nd.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Scraps:

Noooooo! Poor Moondog! We should have Moondog Pet Emeritus
Avatar 11:16pm Franco Twinkie:

  11:16pm chresti:

Most animals are cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Scraps:

Does anybody have a pet spider? Or a pet mushroom? Or a pet vacuum cleaner?
Avatar 11:17pm JakeGould:

Chinchillas are fucking ugly.

I’ve seen ugly, chinchilla -like dogs before
  11:23pm Dean:

I have a pet peeve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm melinda:

@Jake it was Donahue. I loved that show.
@Scraps I was thinking of trying to get a pic of one of my house spiders, but that would be cheating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm Scraps:

See, I would support a pet espresso machine already without arguing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Heavy Chevy:

Henry's Dress ftw!
Avatar 11:28pm JakeGould:

Is there a machine that can toss Chinchilla’s in a ditch?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Scraps:

So love spiders. They’re cute, & humble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm melinda:

I voted early, too, it feels good to get it out of the way. I'm also writing get-out-the-vote letters to targeted voters in competitive districts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm melinda:

Chinchillas are cute. Dusty was a sweetheart.
Avatar 11:29pm JakeGould:

I like the goat this year more than that chinchilla.
Avatar 11:33pm coelacanth∅:

the goat was a good choice. so was Muuro. the chinchilla was a snoozefest, as most cats would be. (a lot of dogs would be boring too; especially puppies)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm diciassette:

I actually have a pet vacuum. Before I leave for work I have to make sure there's nothing on the floor it can beach itself on. It's the most responsibility I've had in years.
