A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Avatar 9:28am Derek Bee:

@Tyler word! I especially love listening to WFMU when I'm out for my sanity stroll when at work in the city, having those little crackles adds a nice layer for my brain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am The Oscar:

One of many songs that will forever be linked for me to David Lynch.
Avatar 9:28am jdaFromCologne:

  9:29am Adrian in London:

Hello Trouble and troublees
Avatar 9:29am Derek Bee:

Anyone want to take this 9.30 conference call for me? ... ... anyone? :) xx
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Trouble:

@tadpoles: wow, that's an unintended. no theme here, usually i just go off the sounds form one song to the next.

so true!@roberto! so true...
Avatar 9:35am Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Derek: There's got to be a market for an app for ducking conference calls: it would take recordings of your own voice saying a series of meaningless business metaphors (low-hanging fruit, circle-back, not a heavy lift, etc) and randomly play them back into the call. More time for FMU, and the office team will all be nodding in agreement. We'll all be heroes.
Avatar 9:36am Derek Bee:

@Rev that's gas - yes, get that app developed stat. What would be a good name for it? Oh man, "circle-back" please...don't... that's way too real :D
Avatar 9:39am Chris from DC:

Gonna need a timeline for putting together that app so we can plan the schedule for deliverables. Some face time to go over feedback would be good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Dave in Vermont:

My parents honeymoon was in Galveston.
  9:41am clancypantz:

OMG Galveston! you just made my day and won life. I love you!!
Avatar 9:41am Dances with Moomins:

Trouble's running us through the time machine.....
Avatar 9:41am Derek Bee:

@Chris - stop! :) We'll need to discuss a priority on those deliverables too, need to get a timeline from development...I'm supposed to be listening to this call ha ha....I wish I had the gonads to drop one of these into the convo unwarranted bring it to a screeching halt. Possible app name: ConfCon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am steveo:

Hurrah, I'm home from work and it's a beautiful sunny fall day and Trouble is on and this song is playing!
  9:43am Motobro:

Galveston, a treasure of a song.
18 years old... just another chapter in parenthood, the good outweighs the bad, like it has in all the chapters before. I’m 4 and 8 years past that milestone with my boys.
Avatar 9:44am OTB:

Could you look into leveraging those client-facing assets ASAP?
Avatar 9:44am Chris from DC:

@Derek, maybe this is just a nice to have for now anyway.
  9:46am Tom from Maplewood:

Love you Kimlet!
Avatar 9:47am Derek Bee:

@Chris haaa! What have we become as humans - I really can't wait for the singularity to come and get this over with.
Avatar 9:47am Rev. Turnip Druid:

I was thinking the conference-dodging app would work without being detected, like the character Chauncey Gardner in BEING THERE (innocently talking about plant-care & being interpreted as political genius) .... so we could call the app NOT BEING THERE.
Avatar 9:47am Chris from DC:

I know right?
  9:47am james:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am The Oscar:

So hard not to add the whistle there, even at work. Had the same problem when Ken played "Ca Plane Pour Moi" the other day.
  9:48am Adrian in London:

Oh, I haven’t heard this version of Personality Crisis before. I like it
Avatar 9:48am Derek Bee:

Yep, as I tell my family this is why I'm always on my best behavior with Alexa, always "please" and "thank you" just to be on the safe side!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am diciassette:

What’s better than Kim Gordon? Two Kim Gordons!
Avatar 9:51am Chris from DC:

Would love to hear Heavy Breathing cover this.
  9:53am Tom from Maplewood:

Does a 3 inch CD single count? I didn’t think so.
Avatar 9:55am Chris from DC:

  9:56am judy from croton:

  9:57am clancypantz:

Avatar 9:57am Derek Bee:

Bob Mould, Grant Hart...and....who's the other guy? Don't use the Google when responding, want to see how well cool the folks in there are (I have no clue who he is btw).
  9:57am Tom from Maplewood:

Every time I post a pic of Hüsker Dü’s single of “8 Miles High” on Instagram people go apeshit. I’m not even playing it! It’s just a photo! They’re best!!
Avatar 9:58am Derek Bee:

@Tom do you do the du?
  9:58am clancypantz:

But I still love him of course, but he missing out big time. He plays the Byrds version often.
  9:59am steveL:

Derek: He has a career as a chef. Name evading me. Black mustache...
  9:59am Tom from Maplewood:

Avatar 10:07am Derek Bee:

OOh Tom. If I was wearing underwear I'd throw them at the compu...erm...
  10:08am Tom from Maplewood:

Yes and no Ms. Trouble. The Hüskers were very accepted by the hardcore community - kind of. They were accepted by the other hardcore bands criss-crossing the country. But in these pre internet days some mean leather jacketed spiked haired youth never saw what they looked like - ordinary guys. And were sometimes disappointed that their super fuzz heroes weren’t all punked out like they were. The other bands didn’t give a shit coz they were musical gods
  10:11am Lucky:

Cheers, Malcolm!
  10:12am Tom from Maplewood:

Grant Hart once told me that before at one of their shows a punk that was wearing a Hüsker Dü sash across his leather jacket sneered at him. He then told him “Hi I’m Grant from Hüsker Dü” and the poor kid looked like he was going to either cry or punch Greg in the face.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Dave in Vermont:

got any olivia newton john singles up there? if it fits with the plan...
  10:13am Tom from Maplewood:

Typo “ before one of their shows”.
  10:14am Lucky:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am listener james from westwood:

IIRC they released this, then were asked to do a whole album, to which they responded, "Uhhhhh ..." Possibly why "Do the Donkey Kong" and "I Think I'm Going Berzerk" didn't light as much of a fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am listener james from westwood:

I'm now living like a short walk from my childhood arcade. 1980 me would be so envious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am The Oscar:

One time I happened to be in a huge retro arcade in New Hampshire the same day as the world video game championships. One guy was going for a record in Ms. Pac Man, but needed to use the bathroom, so he left Ms. Pac Man in a corner where he knew she would be safe for exactly 12 minutes and 30 seconds (or something). I can't imagine having a brain like that.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am Panda Penguin:

Man, I haven't heard this Love Is All track in years. Fond memories. Thanks for the great set so far, Trouble! <3

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Trouble:

merci@ all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am zopa:

I don't know why, but ABBA's Dancing Queen always makes me think of David Soul's (of Starsky and Hutch fame) Don't Give Up On Us... everytime. weird.
Swag For Life Member 11:03am RogerD:

Awesome set - from Husker Du to ABBA! Making Thursday seem, less Thursday - Thx
  11:04am PMD:

had a double take to make sure I turned on the right station
  11:07am peter in SEA:

Argh, I missed France Gall and L7 in the commute! Will have to listen again on Archive ;-) Singles..... Killin' it Trouble!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am bore:

I donated already but I forgot about the mascot contest, is it possible to submit after the fact?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Ken From Hyde Park:

Looks like fair, seasonable weather for Sheep and Wool in Rhinebeck this weekend. Due to family commitments, I won't be able to volunteer this year. Have fun if you're going!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Trouble:

@ken: i am going up on saturday, glad the rain forecast has sort of evaporated...no pun intended

quite fun, this.

Avatar 11:24am Chris from DC:

Always liked this one. WHFS used to play this often way back when.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Passaic River Blues:

Love this song, almost as much as I love Soft Cell's "Sex Dwarf", definitely a strong contender for GREATEST SONG IN RECORDED HISTORY.
Avatar 11:25am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Echoing the Toad. My brain is expecting a Weasel-playing-some-rock-n-roll mic break after this.
Avatar 11:26am Chris from DC:

Ha, Weasel, wow there's a flashback.
  11:29am PMD:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am The Oscar:

I always thought this was the funniest song as a kid. Just LET THE GUY IN ALREADY!
Avatar 11:30am Itzall Ablurr:

Mmmm... loving the subtle hisses 'n pops before the intro to "Let 'em In".
Avatar 11:30am Sem:

Knock, knock!
Avatar 11:30am Roberto:

The bus to summer camp, 1976...this song on the radio, every damn morning!
  11:30am PMD:

My memory of this song is the host of miss America singing it. If my memory serves me correctly. Back in the 70’s
Avatar 11:31am Itzall Ablurr:

PMD, it must have been after the song was already made famous by The Wings... haha
Avatar 11:31am northguineahills:

Don't you love it at work, when you have three executives all giving you conflicting suggestions for the same project, if it weren't for Trouble, I'd be mad by now! (already probably considered insane by contemporary civil society)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am zopa:

Orange who?
  11:31am eric from lake hiawatha:

You made my day Trouble
Avatar 11:33am northguineahills:

If there is a Wing 7" out there, and played after this, I'll die of ecstasy!
  11:33am quinn:

Yesss I love this song

if you already donated and want to submit your pet as mascot, you still can. mail a photo and mention your pledge ( date amount name) OR upload pic to wfmu's app. tap on menu icon in far lower right and then choose upload pic
  11:39am McGreivey:

I request whatever you're going to play next! ( Did this once on Todd-o-Phonic Todd's show, and he played exactly the right record.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am The Oscar:

@NGH I would *love* to hear a record by Paul McCartney & Wing.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Panda Penguin:

This might be the first time I've heard a song intentionally being played on the radio at the wrong speed, and I for one am HERE FOR IT. This is lush.
