Avatar 7:04pm Billy Jam:

in 2 weeks world premiere of long awaited "Lesson 4" by Double Dee & Steinski on this show (part 4/final part in series) with co-host Monica Lynch. Next week co host ALF from Oakland where I am this week too - with Joe D back in studios of WFMU in NJ
  7:08pm P-90:

No Kielbasa? Damn. But I’ll hang anyway.
Avatar 7:09pm Billy Jam:

for today's Hip-Hop History show (45 years condensed into four hours over four weekly shows - hence scratch surface) going back to 80's mainly - this one goes a bit into 90s but not much else is outside of 80's esp the latter 80s as hip-hop evolved into its "golden era" - got some help from Rub DJs - previous show guests - by finally getting round to featuring several tracks off their legendary hip-hop history mixes - edited out some parts of those with their scratching and mixing intact -shout out to all the crew inc Ayers and Eleven (who was guest also on a show remote broadcast from Dublin Ireland)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm chris:

wore this shit out, back in the 80s. beasties!
Avatar 7:12pm Aaron Hali:

‘88 was great but ‘89 is MINE!
Avatar 7:14pm Aaron Hali:

I feel you on that one Chris!
Avatar 7:14pm Billy Jam:

@Aaron - I hear u on 89
  7:14pm 80s guy:

I love the 80s please play the Hackler from Grouse Hall
Avatar 7:16pm Aaron Hali:

How are about 88? Isn’t that a year NWA released their first album? I know that was the beginning of the Bush Tyranny...
Avatar 7:16pm SiHV:

Avatar 7:19pm Billy Jam:

@Aaron - yeah - and since each artist has so many classics - but limited here in time - just play one of each artist - except for Eazy E and NWA 2 different artists
Avatar 7:22pm Aaron Hali:

I was only 7 when SOC dropped!Back then it strictly NWA, Public Enemy, and 2 Live Crew. The good ol’ days ...
Avatar 7:24pm Aaron Hali:

...cant forget Big Daddy Kane! EAZY!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Smilty69:

Hey Aaron! Eric B & Rakim in the house?
Avatar 7:45pm Billy Jam:

good suggestions Tall Paul - but due to such time restrictions (a decade in an hour) had to be extremely selective and leave out lots more than I could possibly fit in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm chresti:

that bass ....
Avatar 7:49pm Billy Jam:

Never wishing to slide into the tempting habit of only playing classic era (80’s/90’s) hip-hop on this show normally - have gone the other direction - mostly playing only new 2018 hip-hip each week - which makes this show more fun for me since have not heard this greats in a while - but now am loving them so much kinda want to go back and do more of these type shows - like all posse cuts - a la Tall Paul’s request
Avatar 7:50pm northguineahills:

Steinski will definitely motivate me to work late in two weeks!
