Bob Ross!
Avatar 7:02pm Jeff Moore:

Welcome back, gIRLs on Fire!
Avatar 7:03pm dale:

bob ross, your personal guru.
Avatar 7:04pm dale:

he was only 53 when he died? WTF!
Avatar 7:04pm Jeff Moore:

Remember: being the close-talker at the party is creepy, not good.
  7:05pm old ERIC thee hat:

ASMR apparently wasn’t meant to be sexualized.
  7:06pm dez:

I'm with Emily on this one
  7:06pm old ERIC thee hat:

Good to hear yr voices again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm ultradamno:

Over-under on an on-air inadvertent curse after all that podcasting?
Avatar 7:07pm Jeff Moore:

Stands for...

  7:10pm Emily:

I’m really uncomfortable y’all.
Avatar 7:11pm kimzilla:

Hi Ultradamno, Jeff, Dale, Marc15, Old Eric and everyone else. Missed you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm melinda:

Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm melinda:

I've found some ASMR videos effective and others just annoying.
  7:16pm Emily:

  7:17pm Emily:

I’m curious—which do you find effective? And why? I’ve only seen ones that creep me out, but I haven’t seen many.
  7:17pm Marc15:

I missed you too
  7:19pm katharsis:

I love that you are doing a show on this. So timely. Thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm melinda:

Emily I haven't watched many, but I like this woman's videos, the sounds are right:www.youtube.com...
  7:22pm Mom:

Great to hear you gals again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My rams got ASMR on their arms on Mars. Derp, that makes no sense at all.
Avatar 7:24pm kimzilla:

hello mom! Which mom are you?
  7:24pm Emily:

Ha! Excellent anagrams...
Avatar 7:25pm kimzilla:

Melinda, She is first on the list of audio clips!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm melinda:

The video I linked is a good example of what she's talking about. @kim that's probably why I found her, I haven't done any serious searching.
  7:27pm Emily:

Melinda, that’s so interesting! She seems pleasant, but makes me so uncomfortable when she starts touching the screen—isn’t it funny how things trigger us in such different ways?? I wonder if it’s because I don’t like when people touch my face...
  7:28pm Emily:

Think it must be your mom, ‘zilla...mine’s in a hurricane.
Avatar 7:28pm kimzilla:

@melinda, she has 1.4 million followers, lots of people are triggered by whispering voices, and personal attention. I'll find Emily's, I have lots of options here!
  7:31pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Oh! So like my version of this would be the “Things Organized Neatly” tumblr. Cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm melinda:

Have you seen the movie Wings of Desire? It is a beautiful film loved by many but I found the voices mushy and irritating, like bad ASMR, thus ruining it somewhat for me.
Avatar 7:32pm JakeGould:

I found a CD of frog and bayou sounds a week ago for $1. Works great for me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm melinda:

I don't think I'm as easily ASMRed as some.
  7:34pm Emily:

But it sounds like you’re very attune to voices!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm melinda:

Avatar 7:35pm Jeff Moore:

Interesting – she isn't pronunciating <<frisson>> the French way which is the only way I've ever heard it.

It took me a few beats to figure out that friss-in was meant to be the same word the same thing as free-sohn.
  7:35pm Emily:

I have that experience—I edit audiobooks and sometimes the narrator’s voice just makes my skin crawl! Too mushy or irritating or slimy!
  7:35pm Emily:

She can tickle herself?!?!
  7:36pm dez:

Great point on the meditative comparison. was thinkin that myself
Avatar 7:36pm JakeGould:

@Jeff: You actually pronounce “Pret A Manger” the correct way so you might be an aberration.
  7:38pm dez:

who is listening with headphones?
Avatar 7:39pm JakeGould:

Anyone remember that 3D aural bee record they used to sell in the back of Spin and Rolling Stone magazines?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

How about ASMR as an antidepression therapy?
Avatar 7:41pm dale:

emily gets the cbgb's?
Avatar 7:41pm JakeGould:

ASMR stands for…

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm ultradamno:

Is this why there are so many TV shows with characters that speak in low whispery voices?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm melinda:

I have misophonia too.
Avatar 7:41pm Jeff Moore:

And the Mudd Clubs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm medson:

Welcome back, tuning in very late. Thankful for the archives : )
  7:43pm Kim's Mom:

What's the opposite of ASMR. Like when my neighbors dog barks every morning at 6 PM?
Avatar 7:43pm Vanessa bikes:

Hi! so I discovered Misophonia from my 23andme profile which predicted I was likely to be. and yes I am but honestly I deal with it, it only really bothers me when I am already cranky. and I never thought of it as the opposite of ESM but yeah Emily I empathize and I might have to turn this off!
  7:43pm mink:

I do not think I get 'pure' ASMR... However I did feel tingles (not groin) and always fall in love with teachers if I saw them being serious and doing something carefully with suspense with their hands. I can understand her frustration that other ppl think it sexual but I think this is basically how I fall in love with people..?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If you gave ASMR to milk cows, I wonder if they'd give more milk or less.
Avatar 7:43pm JakeGould:

Annoying Sensory Meridian Response
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm ultradamno:

I was just eating flaming hot Cheeto puffs, that'd probably do it for someone.
Avatar 7:44pm JakeGould:

Avatar 7:45pm Jeff Moore:

They'd give sour milk.
  7:46pm Kate:

OK I'm officially not into ASMR
Avatar 7:46pm JakeGould:

@Jeff: And you are giving sour grapes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm melinda:

Did she say hubblebub house?
Avatar 7:46pm Jeff Moore:

These whispery people need to be slapped until they stop doing this.
Avatar 7:47pm JakeGould:

What if WFMU just had ASMR going non-stop from like 2:00am to 6:00am?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm ultradamno:

I'm with Kate.

One of the TV shows I was thinking of was 12 Monkeys (not to be confused with the movie) I always just thought it was affected.
Avatar 7:48pm Jeff Moore:

ACTUAL flaming Cheeto puffs, with actual flames coming off them? That sounds AWESOME.
  7:49pm mink:

A lot of this stuff is too annoying to be enjoyable. find a sketch with steve buscemi whispering and you've nailed it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm ultradamno:

That might get too loud for ASMR enthusiasts
Avatar 7:49pm JakeGould:

How about just 4 hours of YngDave playing guitar riffs?
  7:51pm Kate:

bubbly fizzy things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm ultradamno:

Music of Mind Control is a good place for whispering cult leaders with wind chimes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm melinda:

The lock sounds were nice but not the whispery locksmith.
Avatar 7:51pm Jeff Moore:

I think maybe if they organically had a reason to be whispering that way, maybe this stuff wouldn't be so dang annoying. These mostly seem forced.
Avatar 7:52pm JakeGould:

Apparently Marlon Brando liked to listen to sound effects albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm melinda:

I thought everyone got tinglies from having their hair played with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm Sean d:

Sometimes the wind whispers to me
  7:53pm Kate:

I can't braid things. I have 8 thumbs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm ultradamno:

That wind-like white noise, like Lynch movie sound design, would probably be closest thing I can think of that would do it for me.
Avatar 7:56pm Jeff Moore:

@Sean d: I bet the wind isn't whispering in a particular way to try to monetize its YouTube channel, it's just whispering the way it whispers. Which is why it's good.
  7:57pm Kate:

I DO like it when someone plays with my hair. But it has to be the right someone.
  7:57pm mink:

Yeah I'm with Jeff. Sometimes I like acting but often acting is bad. I think the sincerity makes a huge difference. This is why I think there must be some overlap with sexuality. Being emotionally moved by someone's actions tends to be a turn on (even platonically.. can you have a platonic turn on? I think so)
  7:58pm Kim's Mom:

Please let me play with your hair, Kim!
  7:59pm Kate:

So very glad to have you back on the air!
Avatar 7:59pm Jeff Moore:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm ultradamno:

Having hair for someone to play with would be a novelty
  8:00pm mink:

this guy tends a slap
Avatar 8:00pm Jeff Moore:

I hate that guy so much.
  8:01pm mink:
