yah man - loving it!! then comes The Rocktobaaah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Frank In Queens:

clarke, if you're referring to the tune that Michael played a couple of weeks ago, that's an oldie. From 5 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Frank In Queens:

Now now, don't be so eager to rush to Rocktober. You'll miss Zeptember!

oh so now you are moonlighting with The GoGo's!! norman will be PISSED!!
  11:16am jaz:

@Michael: Which color are you trying to pick out? There are browser plugins (e.g. Color Picker) for web designers that give you hex color codes for whatever your cursor is over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Frank In Queens:

If you won't blab about my involvement with The GoGo's, I'll keep mum about Cape Cod.
  11:18am clarke:

when hockey season starts, we'll never see ya!! so do you play street hockey in the summah??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, Michael and all!
  11:20am Listener Robert:

I might've remarked here about this before, but am I the only one who thinks "Common People" is about someone who makes a merely insensitive remark (the sort of thing I'm always prone to do, it seems) and is paid back with genuine nastiness?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Frank In Queens:

I haven't played hockey in about 20 years or so. I had to give it up as it would mess with my hands and arms to the point that it would temporarily impact my ability to play music. It was an easy decision. I sucked at hockey.
Avatar 11:20am duke:

Sugarpie DeSanto is one of the all time great names.
  11:21am clarke:

i have a similar thing with bowling and playing guitar -- it kills my forearm for barre-ing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Frank In Queens:

Oh man, I can't do that either. Even something as simple as playing pinball messes me up!
  11:23am clarke:

oh ouch - damn i have not pinballed in a while, but i can see that, too
  11:24am clarke:

but i can imagine hockey is BRUTAL on the joints
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Frank In Queens:

I was down in Asbury a few weeks ago and popped into the pinball museum for a bit. I probably played a grand total of 15 minutes and I felt it the next day.
  11:25am clarke:

pine barren envy here!!!!
Avatar 11:25am TDK60:

Only once drove through the Pine Barrens, on an old back road. One can get lost out there, oh yeah.
  11:26am clarke:

that is messed up
Avatar 11:26am TDK60:

DJ Bob Brainen -wow - 41 years today!
  11:27am clarke:

that's MY cassette of choice too!!! UD XL II!!!
Avatar 11:29am TDK60:

Michael, you live in the same town as Bob?! Would that be a town in Essex County, along the banks of the Passaic River, in between Belleville and Clifton?
  11:29am clarke:

man, it would sure be tough to be a kid these days.
  11:30am clarke:

but, i guess that comes with the perspective of when i was growing up - diff times
Avatar 11:32am northguineahills:

Gee, I wonder what TDK60's favorite cassette of choice would be? ;p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Joe C from Brooklyn In Staten Island:

This tune is hilarious.
  11:32am clarke:

i used to like TDK-90's a lot, too!!
Avatar 11:33am duke:

These kids today with their violent rap music
  11:34am clarke:

one of the only rules i ever obeyed was when i got my first four-track (Porta-7): it said to use the same type of tape all the time. i have been hoarding UD-XL II's since!!
  11:36am clarke:

just reading the new Stamey book (pretty good) and Big Brown Eyes was only a minute forty-eight until they added some stuff
  11:38am clarke:

well there is a LOT of slapback across the board on this tune which can cause some timing issues
Avatar 11:39am northguineahills:

@clarke: Myself included. I believe I have a few blanks hoarded around here somewhere.
  11:39am clarke:

i can give you an address to send 'em to!!! ;]
11:40am David in ATL from NJ:

If there was ever a song for the cartoon drums it is with that one.
  11:41am clarke:

i stopped listening...
Avatar 11:41am TDK60:

Don't recall why I chose this moniker; also use Maxells; don't make mix tapes much anymore, every once in a long while.
  11:43am clarke:

i have continued to make mixtapes all thru the 'CD era' (read: error) and now i make 'em on youtube - but, i JUST got me an old cassette deck...
11:43am David in ATL from NJ:

That guitar has Scott Ligon written over it.
Doing his best Big Al solo.
11:44am David in ATL from NJ:

Great stuff, Michael. It is my favorite of 2018 too.
Avatar 11:46am TDK60:

Well, I am slowly finishing up a mix-tape, the only one I've done this year.
  11:47am clarke:

is it on a TDK-60???
Avatar 11:49am TDK60:

No, a Maxell UR 90 "normal type I".
  11:58am clarke:

maybe after the interview we can have the discussion question about mixtapes....
  11:59am clarke:

..because the mixtapes i used to make MOST resemble the MS Show... back in the day, that is.
Avatar 11:59am Michael Shelley:

  12:08pm clarke:

yes! this song was part of your live set at Monty Hall!! good tune!!
  12:19pm clarke:

while it must be tough to deal with two phone lines, i thought the interview was SMASHING!!
  12:21pm clarke:

man, i am so DONE with "people" after a summer season - i admire yer skillz
  12:28pm clarke:

what i mean about my old mixtapes is that they were ALL OVER THE PLACE - i would shoot from genre to genre - as long as it was a good record -- i think today, my mixtapes are a bit more, uh, streamlined??
  12:30pm clarke:

but, that's why i love the 'format' of this show -- there IS none!
  12:31pm clarke:

oh yeah: Number One Hits
Avatar 12:33pm Mailman Tom:

I'd love to hear more songs by Sallie Ford. She's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Rob from colonia:

EVEN the grateful dead
Avatar 12:38pm TDK60:

..my current in-the-works mix tape is just for me. I used to churn them out for others.
  12:40pm clarke:

me, too, TDK. i still churn out the youtube ones, online, and plan to make one to send out this xmas, maybe?? i also plan to digitize a lot of 45's i have accumulated over the past few years, now that i have a little more time...
  12:44pm clarke:

so what are the two songs on the beginning of each side?
Avatar 12:47pm TDK60:

I still have a mix tape I made @ 1982. I was surprised when I played it recently, it still sounded okay, a Maxell. A lot of other tapes from '77-'84 went muffled or the tape wilted.
  12:48pm Gordon FM:

Was there somehow auto tune on “I can’t stay”?
  12:48pm clarke:

oh yeah, maxells really stand up well! actually i pulled a TDK out from long ago and they are ok, too
  12:50pm clarke:

it's like a little time machine.
  12:52pm clarke:

i had found this 8track recorder at a yard sale years ago, and this week had/took the time to try to make a tape with it -- could NOT make the thing record. (going to hand it off to a friend with more time to fix it up)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Uncle Michael:

Michael, I'm seeing McGuinn, Clark and Marty and the Superlatives tomorrow.
  12:55pm clarke:

whoah if it is Clark you must be going to a seance
  12:56pm clarke:

yeah, i think there is some tone-correction going on here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Uncle Michael:

Oops. Now that's a brainfart. I did see M, C, and H in '79.
  12:58pm clarke:

whatta show !!!! salvation!!!!
  12:58pm Gordon FM:

This song too?? I just don’t get it. Seems antithetical to the genre. And I like Cher! Oh well. You tune you. And RIP.
