As an anti -stalinist, anti-Putin and his Trumpet, I cannot be accused of paranoia.
I think the amerikkkans invented it to avoid May Day -
May 1st - the traditional workers' day for the rest of the world -sort of like the difference between the World Cup and the Super Bowl???????

Hi Joe! I work today and it’s going to be awful but I’m enjoying your show before I leave :D I shall work as slow as possible

And now we Dance!
  9:59am Morphe:

I am having intuitive spasmatic linguisitic neuron connections:
It is thought that origins of the boating call "MAY DAY!!!!" comes from the French: "ME AIDEE!!!!!!!!""" NI IDEA...
Which also leads Neurons fllowing to a great anthropological book: "COWS PIGS WARS AND WITCHES." Sort of explains why Jesus became famous while all the other crazies died in the desert?????
  9:59am GListener MW:

the Gleaming Spires!!! wow
  9:59am GListener MW:

  9:59am Gaylord Fields:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am Mark Hurst:

Just got back from China last night & will be hosting the very special jet-lag episode of Techtonic tonight. I did listen to some WFMU while in China - as Gaylord said, it was nice to hear my friends while traveling!

@Joe: I have to thank you for playing “Does Your Mother Know” and now Rose Melberg doing Linda Smith!

@Mark: Sometimes technology is almost worth it.

@Wild Neil: Thanks! Rail travel in Europe is so so much better than in the US! And, as proved by this message, the WiFi is more stable.

Sheila B.!!! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Mark Hurst:

@Jasper, WFMU comes through perfectly in China! No blocking for us, as there is for many other US-based sites/apps.
  10:34am Gaylord Fields:

@tadpoles: You’re showing both our ages!

@djsheilab: Glad I’m here but also wishing I were home, for various Sheila-related reasons!

Sam Cooke is so good. That was soothing.
  10:39am the illuminated void:

love the show joe...does artwork count as work....hahahs..
  10:40am melinda:

Yet melancholic too, I agree, maybe that's why it was soothing.
  10:41am Jasper:

Wow I think it's a 50/50 split of DJs and unwashed listeners in this chat.
@Joe: I only came in near the finish line, but it's a nice feeling to come across comments of people being so thrilled to get their swag. FMU breeds patience ;)
Avatar 10:42am Joe McG:

@void: I'm not sure! I hope not. @Jasper: We do help people develop that quality. ;)

Let's Go, yay
  11:02am Gaylord Fields:

Sheila, I only got the gig because you gave me the confidence to pursue it after our conversation! I’m so thankful to you, for that and other reasons.
Avatar 11:03am Brian in UK:

I can just see Gaylord grooving to the Move as he whizzes through the countryside. Facing the engine or back to it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am queems:

WOO it's hot out there yo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Irene Trudel:

Had to look that Move song up. I almost thought it was an unknown George Harrison song. Beautiful.
  11:09am hendrix wolfbat:

Nice sets this morning! I think a healthy breakfast in 1980 was probably oatmeal or cream of wheat or something...
  11:10am hendrix wolfbat:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am thriftstoreleather:

Avatar 11:22am Brian in UK:

Ah Rough Mix, one of those albums that got lost when moving one time. How does that happen?

Lazing around, on this holiday. This show is just another example of why Joe is one of the finest DJs here or anywhere...
Avatar 11:25am Joe McG:

Wow, Jeffrey, that just made my day! Shrunken Planet, folks, the greatest, every Saturday morning, 6-9. If you're not up that early, do what I do: Archives! JD is always there first.

Whoops! Jeffrey might want to rescind that endorsement!
  11:31am Morphe:

Gaylord - within the current EU temperment keep the peeps/windows open behind. Been jacked up 2x for helping people of color - one was minor - small stab wound from a facisist. 2nd time -- knocked to the ground by 3 and booted in the head for stopping them spitting on a man selling hand bags in CENTRAL CENTRAL Madrid.... No one helped until it was over... Eyes in the back of the head, WINDOWS OPEN, and the ear to rail as we say in Brooklyn!!!! Morphe
Avatar 11:32am Joe McG:

Much nicer at the right speed! I love the line "On your way to Sleepytown..."

Well Joe, king of the decks, got to cut and run. Gardening issues.
