Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Daniel Blumin:

Hallo, melinda & Franco!!! coela, please report back!
  9:54pm Joe Mulligan:

I have not heard this Otraslab track since the 90s and I love it! Thanks Daniel!
Avatar 9:56pm TDK60:

Coel, maybe invite your new roomies into your room, pass round some sacred tea leaves, and all will be well...
Avatar 9:59pm TDK60:

...or if that doesn't work, maybe an Ancient 1970s cheese fondue ritual?
  10:03pm Jocelyn:

Mmmm cheese fondue
Avatar 10:03pm coelacanth∅:

TDK i'm sure their each at least 5 beers and a couple joints in already!
Avatar 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

(i mean, "they're")

...Bryce is back and so's Scott McDowell. good news
  10:08pm Joe Mulligan:

Oh yes, Sabotage!! Those Austrian pranksters were always pulling stunts, like swapping phone books from different cities into phone booths
  10:11pm P-90:

Bloomin' Blumin! Wanted to punch in here for a moment just to say how truly jazzed we are in P-World that you'll be continuing on Friday evenings straight through the Fall and Winter...
  10:12pm Joe Mulligan:

The KLF chill out album -and- the satire compilation from Sabotage were both faves of mine. I think a slip with a link to a wolf conservation organization was in that CD
  10:12pm Jocelyn:

I miss phone books!
  10:13pm P-90:

Dude: I'm chuffed. Chuffed, I say!
  10:16pm Joe Mulligan:

Haha Jocelyn! So many pranks to do with phone books
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Daniel Blumin:

Jocelyn, all hail! Phone books!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Daniel Blumin:

p-90, chuffed am I as well that I'll be here through the cold and dreary months! Hope I don't get caught in me scarf or some such whilst spinning... spinning... spinning....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Scraps:

hey h’lo
  10:24pm Jocelyn:

Hi scraps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm melinda:

I'm assuming the appropriate garb for the ancient cheese fondue ritual would be caftans.
  10:27pm Jocelyn:

Caftans, cheese fondue and casseroles!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Daniel Blumin:

Avatar 10:31pm coelacanth∅:

my autumn caftan is at the cleaners, but i do have these fonue trousers...cdn.shopify.com...

greetings Scraps
Avatar 10:31pm coelacanth∅:

(fondue trousers, that is)
Avatar 10:38pm JakeGould:

There are about 710 results on Google if you search for “Caftans WFMU” www.google.com...
Avatar 10:38pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, I tried to stay out of this discussion, but if yous guys are going to start a cavalcade of back to school fashion proclamations.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Daniel Blumin:

coela, those trousers are perfect for the long weekend...
  10:39pm Joe Mulligan:

What’s a caftan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Daniel Blumin:

Joe, it's what everyone listening is wearing right now! But it's not mandatory...
Avatar 10:40pm JakeGould:

@JoeMulligan: Ask Pseu Braun and get educated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Daniel Blumin:

Avatar 10:41pm coelacanth∅:

yes,Daniel, or an evening by the fire with friends and fondue.
Avatar 10:41pm coelacanth∅:

and the best part is - they're removable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm melinda:

@coel nice trousers! I suppose jumpsuits might also be appropriate for the ritual, but caftans seem more laid-back, less action-oriented.
Avatar 10:43pm coelacanth∅:

melinda it kind of depends if your fondue buddies are the food-fight type or not.
  10:43pm Joe Mulligan:

So much to learn! But careful with those peppers and dragonfruit
Avatar 10:44pm Franco Twinkie:

....I'm gonna dig my Sky Saxon knockabout loafers out of the trash heap I call my bedroom closet and show all you fuckers how a real man dresses for a late summer cook out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm melinda:

@Jake those entries are hilarious. Top one: "Liberace in a buckskin caftan". haha
Avatar 10:44pm JakeGould:

Peppers are good. Dragonfruit is exotic bullshit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Assuming the weather next month won't be as blazing hot as the last few, maybe the time is right to start up a fondue food truck business.
Avatar 10:47pm JakeGould:

@Ken: Set up a “Fon-Dudes” truck.
Avatar 10:48pm coelacanth∅:

i'm parking my pickles 'n' hummus truck across the street fella
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm melinda:

I had to look up Sky Saxon...interesting bio.
Avatar 10:52pm Franco Twinkie:

Vegetable smearage on crisp corn tile with a frosty cream soda in the back seat of a Checker Marathon.
Avatar 10:52pm coelacanth∅:

i know Sky Saxon, but i'm assuming "sky saxon knockabout loafers" will just yield pictures of the band loafing about.
.....waiting for pictures Franco!
Avatar 10:53pm coelacanth∅:

would you please pick me up?
Avatar 10:53pm coelacanth∅:

- i'll sit on a jump seat if i must
  10:54pm leshwatt:

Extinct baby horse
Avatar 10:57pm Franco Twinkie:

If I remember correctly, and that is becoming a shakier and shakier proposition...In the movie Psych-Out. The Seeds are playing a song in the park and a bunch of flower children are dancing around....and the loafers are clearly visable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Ike:

Agreed that dragonfruit is disappointing, at least the ones I've had. Bland! As far as exotic fruit goes, mangosteens and durian are way better!
Avatar 11:01pm david_:

when did americans start wearing sneakers en masse
Avatar 11:11pm TDK60:

david_: 1985?
Avatar 11:11pm northguineahills:

thanks Danie, losing conscious soon (very sleep deprived).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm melinda:

I think I had a disappointing dragonfruit too, is it the one that's white inside with little black specks?
  11:13pm Jocelyn:

I like finger lime. Much better than dragon fruit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Daniel Blumin:

ngh, rest well, Sire!
Avatar 11:14pm northguineahills:

best bed music ever!

@melinda: I had dragonfruit w/ ghost peppers and queso Oaxaca earlier. In culinary heaven!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm melinda:

reeboks were big then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm melinda:

@ngh dragonfruit is probably better combined with other ingredients. It's pretty.
Avatar 11:15pm northguineahills:

danks, Daniel (no typos I hope)
Avatar 11:16pm coelacanth∅:

ugh. do finger limes actually taste like fingers? and if so, who's?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Daniel Blumin:

Thanks, ngh! I'll take that vote of confidence into consideration! It's certainly guaranteed to discombobulate!
  11:19pm Jocelyn:

Mmmmm ghost peppers
Avatar 11:20pm northguineahills:

@ melinda: I have certain culinary style. It's not for for everyone, but I endorse it. (I'm not great at making my dishes look aesthetically pleasing) [the missuss is great at that]
Avatar 11:21pm northguineahills:

kanbanwa, Jocelyn. Oneric time por moi.....
  11:22pm Jocelyn:

Finger limes taste like lime but they're finger shaped and the inside is little round caviar looking fruit.
Avatar 11:23pm northguineahills:

love Catherine Christer Hennix. T'will be my dream sndtrk. Besos todos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm Daniel Blumin:

ngh, you heard that the Village Voice closed up shop fer good today?
Avatar 11:24pm coelacanth∅:

i don't remember what dragonfruit tasted like, though i remember it not tasting a lot....like carambola. (starfruit) very pretty but i described it at the time as like an orange without the tartness and less sweet...which doesn't leave much.
it'd make an excellent garnish for ice-cream or cake.
Avatar 11:24pm TDK60:

Village Voice gone!
Avatar 11:26pm coelacanth∅:

Jocelyn, so those aren't related to limes then?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm melinda:

I'm liking the well-tuned marimba
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm Daniel Blumin:

Yup, 63 years and done, TDK...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm melinda:

That's sad about the VV
  11:29pm P-90:

Cool soundstaging
Avatar 11:30pm northguineahills:

One of our great friends, posted the village voice going under, earlier today. I remember always looking for shows and openings and later online for such. (journalism and more). ouch!
Avatar 11:30pm coelacanth∅:

village voice. next thing ya know studebaker will go out of business.
  11:33pm P-90:

You guys knew when Rupert Murdoch bought The Voice he has going to drive into the ground... And remember, it was a shade of its former glorious self by that point anyway. Just saying: it's sad but no surprise.
  11:36pm Jocelyn:

I'm not sure if they're in the actual lime family or not. I was really fascinated with them and consumed quite a bit.
  11:38pm Jocelyn:

Knowing something is going to end doesn't make it hurt less. The VV was one of my favourite reads.

  11:43pm P-90:

  11:45pm rw:

It is pretty fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm Daniel Blumin:

I'm just trying to imagine what this sounds like if you're driving, p-90!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm melinda:

I switched to earbuds and it sounds like the aliens are speaking to me.
Avatar 11:46pm TDK60:

sorta like announcements over the intercom in my subway station, unfathomable reverb.
  11:47pm rw:

I just switched to headphones too. Thanks P-90!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Daniel Blumin:

Jocelyn & ngh, always looked at the music listings and the film/music reviews + some columnists back in the day but must admit I hadn't looked in years prior to today's announcement...
  11:48pm P-90:

I love tracks you can sing along to...
  11:50pm Jocelyn:

I still read a lot of print papers/magazines. I'm trying to enjoy it all while it's still here.
  11:52pm hendrix wolfbat:

You rule! love , from the dungeon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm Daniel Blumin:

hendrix, thanks lots! love from the freeform hot spot!
Avatar 11:55pm TDK60:

VV was one way of looking at the Village/NYC from the 1950s on, thru so many eras of culture and politics; it was a bit more mainstream than me, but a sort of mirror of this city. The music ads, for one, were always checked.
Avatar 11:59pm coelacanth∅:

in the mid 90s i was seeing a city dweller who always had a full itinerary of shows (usually "punk" oriented) we were going to check out when i came in to see her. i think most of her info came via the voice. that's the most i've ever used it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm fleep:

Happy landings, everyone. Thanks, DB.
Avatar 11:59pm TDK60:

..great show Daniel -- next time.
