Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I'll bet. I may have heard it and forgotten.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm melinda:

Britches, haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Goyim in the AM:

Spelled "pretzle", you'd have to pronounce it "pretz-luh". Which is not ok.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Uncle Michael:

If I said "britches," I totally missed it.
Avatar 12:42pm burke:

Whoa, you sound pretty salty there Marty! Remember your sweet Felina.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Uncle Michael:

Probably not.
Avatar 1:21pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Uncle M & dinklings
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar 1:24pm coelacanth∅:

...are you going to play "so what" by the cure? (which may or may not really be called "so what", as the song titles were never disclosed anywhere on that album)
- anyway i'm not really asking!
  1:24pm Dean:

My copy of this Miles/Coltrane is a real bootleg, a French release.
Avatar 1:34pm coelacanth∅:

oh and for the record, pretzel logic, i do remember discussing that mispelling with friends whilst peering at the cover through the smoke one bright evening when we were teenagers. i don't remember if i had noticed it before it was pointed out. if i knew how to spell pretzel, i would've noticed it; but i'm not sure i knew how to spell pretzle at that time in my twisted life.
  1:35pm Jeff g.:

No one in Paris was ready for what Coltrane was laying down in 1960: "Coltrane was loudly booed during his solos on 'All of You' and 'Bye Bye Blackbird.'" From: http://www.plosin.com/MilesAhead/Sessions.aspx?s=600321
Avatar 1:35pm Roberto:

That chicken and potatoes sounds very much like what my family and I ate during our trip to Portugal in 1972. It was prepared by an angry drunk cook in a tent. I'm vegan now, so just the potatoes, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Asheville Jon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Lane Gray:

Doctor, I'd say you did the track a disservice by omitting Rice.
I like Jerry as much as the next guy (depending on who the next guy is), but Tony laid down some cool stuff there

Avatar 2:02pm coelacanth∅:

huh.well i don't know him that well and not for very long. mostly i've been getting into his work with Peter Rowen and the quartet....i guess that's maybe 10 years old now. i see Tony keeping his mouth decidedly closed on the youboob videos. the quartet's version of cold rain & snow is indescribably gorgeous.

For some reason, as a joke I suspect, I am the recipient of all my station's Ad Council PSA material (our station has never played them, but they pour in like crazy).
  2:03pm Alex In Illinois:

I did not know that announcements from the Ad council ever stopped.

Avatar 2:04pm ndbob:

Fred Neil was on Elektra then Capitol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Rich in Washington:

Our now retired news director had ferreted away several hundred mailed in PSAs on CD and cassette over the years in boxes all over the place. Her tiny office was like a Gemini space capsule - just enough room to sit at her desk.
Avatar 2:09pm coelacanth∅:

ndbob, i was kidding. it's mostly songs that could (incorrectly and unfairly) be called "traditional" that they pretended to invent.
Avatar 2:11pm ndbob:

Listenin’ to ya live through the app while on the beach. Sounds great today!

I was just saying on someone else's show the other day, there's nothing like cooking while a great live show is playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Uncle Michael:

Wow, Brian.

I hope I'm not ruining your dinner then Rich.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Lane Gray:

Have you got the Farr Brothers CD (or one of them)?
Hugh and Karl

No Lane...will seek them out.
