Listener comments!

Avatar 6:47am Sem:

Good morning, Bill, and hello to Zzzzzzero Hour friends everywhere.
Every year, our local arts council hosts two days of plein air painting w/ an attached auction of the new work, splitting the revenue 50/50 with the 80+ artists. This morning, as usual, I am hanging art at our temporary gallery, missing your show live. Will catch up on the archive! Hear you again soon, I hope.
Avatar 7:25am Brian in UK:

Sem, good luck with the show. I thought you had to be dead to make money out of painting. Damien Hurst notwithstanding.

Bill, quick hello. It just occurred to me as I was painting the chicken coop that there is no Archies tribute band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44am Scraps:

Nor a Wombles tribute band, nor a Banana Splits tribute band. Yet there are several Spinal Tap tribute bands! Shocking.
Avatar 9:02am fred:

Good morning Bill and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am Rich in NC:

Good Morning all----thanks for the heads up Bill
Avatar 9:04am Brian in UK:

Just finished painting the coop. Do I sign it?
Avatar 9:08am fred:

@Brian: Why not?
Avatar 9:10am Bill Mac:

Aaaaaarggghhhh! Hey we have liftoff!!!!
Avatar 9:13am Bill Mac:

Banana Splits! I was just last night perusing a Banana Splits long player that I considered putting on today... I think I opted for the Cowsills instead
Avatar 9:20am Brian in UK:

I believe that there is more than one Rutles tribute band.
Avatar 9:21am Bill Mac:

Should there be an Archies tribute band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Stanley:

Hi Brian, have you painted a mural on the coop? Sunset in Tahiti? A scene from the 1926 general strike? Or was it in your usual Howard Hodgkin style?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Stanley:

....and hi Bill and everyone
Avatar 9:25am Brian in UK:

Ofcourse not. The Archies of Loaf?
Avatar 9:25am Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am Uncle Michael:

Hi, gang.
Avatar 9:26am Brian in UK:

Stanley, no brushes were used. No muriels either.
Avatar 9:27am Bill Mac:

UM!!! How dem Cubbies doing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29am Uncle Michael:

Very well, considering. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am Scraps:

Rutles! I should have thought of that. Better for Spinal Tap for the joke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Scraps:

(Better than, not Better for)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Stanley:

Mediaeval rock is like aromatherapy - all right in small doses.
Avatar 10:19am Bill Mac:

I saw a bunch of muscular gents in kilts playing some war music in front of a castle a few weeks back... they looked like they were getting ready to play a football game.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am Stanley:

You sure that wasn't the actual army strutting their stuff at the military tattoo? It's going on at the moment. It's amazing that in this day and age 220,000 people pay up £35 to £350 ($50 to $500) to watch an outdated celebration of military might by a country that still thinks it has an Empire. Howver, in these reactionary times, it is taboo to poo-poo the tattoo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am doctorjazz:

Hi folks!
Avatar 10:37am Bill Mac:

These guys had a more Braveheart flavor to them, complete with tattoos...

The doctor is in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am doctorjazz:

Cool version of this Aretha classic, live, terrific! And Bukka White had a kind of folk feel to his blues.
Avatar 10:43am fred:

@Stanley: I hear you. Looks like our own self-proclaimed thunder-god failed to inspire the orange one to waste millions on a parade though. I guess one only pays for a long-gone empire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am Stanley:

Yeah, they will be our country's finest football fans, getting into the zone before a match
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Stanley:

@fred: true words and boy, are we going to pay for the next era of our 'glorious' history.
Avatar 10:50am fred:

@Stanley: I'm getting offered jobs in the UK every other week or so. It might be related to the expats who are coming back because of Brexit "uncertainty". Though something smelly certainly seems headed for a fan. Why do I think I'll get hit by some of it, someway?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am doctorjazz:

Love this Gladiators, in my power pop zone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am doctorjazz:

My daughter's favorite band All Time Low, is playing tonight, I'm going with her. Should be fun.
  10:53am rw:

Good morning. Is it Zzzzzzero hour already?
Avatar 10:53am Bill Mac:

you might want to refresh... i'm noticing the current songs is sometime incorrect...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am doctorjazz:

Oops, that was Apples In Stereo...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Scraps:

Washaway! The extra XTC song that was the best!
  10:55am rw:

If it’s XTC this must be Zzzzzzero
Avatar 10:57am Bill Mac:

Hey rw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am Scraps:

XTC extra songs are.... not the best. They always pick the good songs and stick them on the albums. Except “Washaway”. It’s great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am doctorjazz:

Great set!
Avatar 10:59am coelacanth∅:

greetingz Bill and Zzzzzzeroes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Scraps:

(Well, and “Dear God”. But almost immediately they put it on =Skylarking=.)
Avatar 11:01am coelacanth∅:

- and that John Parish sounds quite different than other John Parish i've heard. still very good though
Avatar 11:02am coelacanth∅:

someone dosed the cowsills' milk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Stanley:

I wouldn't do it. All reliable opinion is that we're headed for utter chaos in the short term (1-2 years) followed by a severe recession. It is quite a phenomenon that this self created catastrophe we're headed for is being allowed to happen. Sense doesn't have look in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Stanley:

(sorry, reply to fred 10:50)
Avatar 11:11am Bill Mac:

Avatar 11:12am fred:

This set starts very well
Avatar 11:13am coelacanth∅:

in the us we drove a car with all the wheels loose on a pot hole ridden road; then when the wheels started falling off we kept driving it. then when the wheels were gone we put bicycle wheels on it and drove it even faster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Scraps:

(The extra songs on =Mummer= are pretty good, though. But still, the songs on the original album of =Mummer= are better...)
Avatar 11:16am fred:

@Stanley: No way I'm taking the bait. The salary is great, but I don't know whether I'd be able to stay a year from now. Some offers were suspiciously backloaded too (options, mostly, but also guaranteed raises if I could remain eligible). Sounds like a scam to me
Avatar 11:19am Bill Mac:

@Scraps- I was always a fan of their extra releases back before it was fashionable, but it was really hard to keep up with all of their releases
Avatar 11:21am Brian in UK:

Bonus tracks, my arse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Uncle Michael:

Back in the A/C. Weeds have been whacked. The new mother nature has been vanquished.
Avatar 11:34am fred:

@UM; So you're friends with distinction? You do know Doug, though, so it shouldn't be a surprise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Uncle Michael:

Distinction, but not benefits.
Avatar 11:37am fred:

Something tells me this Budgie is not related to any Banshee
Avatar 11:40am Brian in UK:

Budgie was also a television series over here in the early Seventies starring Adam Faith.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Uncle Michael:

Lenny Cravats covered Croatian Woman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Uncle Michael:

You're on your own. Make shit up.
Avatar 11:45am Bill Mac:

Shhhhhh! Yr breaking the DJ code.... as if ...
Avatar 11:51am fred:

One thing I miss about the old home page is the random quote. I think one read something like "50% of band names are made up on the spot"
Avatar 11:53am Bill Mac:

You don't think any of us ever bothered to learn how to read Welsh or Finnish.... or English, do you?
Avatar 11:58am Bill Mac:

Hey Folks, it was a great thing to see you all today.... this is your favorite tinkerer Bill Mac saying see you next trime you need yr knives sharpened
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Uncle Michael:

I don't know what I like...but i know Art.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Stanley:

Listened all through but did the housework, too.
Thanks, Bill. always good to hear you on the waves.
Take care, man and ll.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Uncle Michael:

Thanks, Bill! I think I hear your ride...
Avatar 11:59am Brian in UK:

Jolly good show, Bill.
Avatar 12:00pm fred:

Thanks Bill! It's always a treat to hear your show
Avatar 12:02pm Bill Mac:

Thanks all.... yep I hears my ride... keep your head and arms inside the car at all times
Avatar 12:06pm coelacanth∅:

take care
