Good evening, Jeff.

I am, thanks. I tune in in the mornings, rarely at night. I dig your show description.
Avatar 10:13pm Jeff Conklin:

Cool, welcome!

P-90, whoa, been a while. Hey, fleep...
Avatar 10:14pm Neanderthal Head:

It's so cool to keep discovering new shows, like Avant Ghetto.
Avatar 10:15pm Neanderthal Head:

Right outside this lazy summer home...

  10:17pm wendy del formaggio:

Hey Jeff. My tablet cuts off the full album title. What year are these tracks from?
Avatar 10:18pm JakeGould:

@Wendy: Huntington Civic Center, Huntington, WV, 4/16/78 via “Betty Board Bootsville”
Avatar 10:19pm Jeff Conklin:

"Cocaine" haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm J.M.Hart:

This is swell!
Burning batteries to stream in the power outage.
  10:21pm wendy del formaggio:

Thanks, Jeff! These recordings sound pretty nice.
Avatar 10:21pm Adamsworth:

Hello all, I forgot that the show started at 10 tonight...ha ha...I will listen to the full Dead jam later.
  10:22pm Jeff Conklin:

@JM: Damn that sucks! How long? No MPP?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm medson:

Hey everybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm mb:

Sounds like they are teasing something in this Eyes
Avatar 10:22pm Neanderthal Head:

You guys having thunderstorms in NJ?
Avatar 10:23pm Jeff Conklin:

Had a passing one in Brooklyn earlier, NJ seems dry for now...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm medson:

No rain at the moment
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm medson:

Pretty crazy rain here yesterday here in NJ. Flash flooding.
Checkout this video of a flash flood near a car dealership
Avatar 10:26pm Neanderthal Head:

Hi medson. Don't you have to go to bed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm medson:

@Neanderthal Head no why?
Avatar 10:27pm Neanderthal Head:

Had it been extremely dry there? It's been very dry all summer here in MI.
Avatar 10:28pm Neanderthal Head:

@medson Oh, I was just wondering with Wake & Bake and all that.
Avatar 10:28pm Adamsworth:

Oh shit, Cosmic Invention...I love this album so much. I own it but will probably rebuy the Drag City reissue because there's a bonus jam I think.
Avatar 10:29pm Jeff Conklin:

There is a bonus jam and its Glorious.
Avatar 10:30pm Jennifer_PNW:

Hey everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm medson:

@Neanderthal Head. ah, No I'm not in until Wednesday
Avatar 10:31pm Adamsworth:

The new cover isn't much of an improvement of the old one. I liked the early Photoshop art style. I wish they'd just used the cow from the inner cover or something
Avatar 10:31pm Neanderthal Head:

This sounds great. Never heard of Cosmic Invention.
Avatar 10:32pm Adamsworth:

@Neanderthal Head it is another band of Batoh from the band Ghost, the Japanese one, not the corny (imo) metal band.
  10:34pm Greg:

Looks I’ll need to pick up this Cosmic Invention reissue - it’s killer!
Avatar 10:35pm Neanderthal Head:

@Adamsworth I like it a lot.
  10:36pm Eiderdown:

Evening everyone!! Jeff, I keep missing you at your new time. Glad I got my priorities straight tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm mb:

I'm going to guess 76'? amirite
Avatar 10:36pm Neanderthal Head:

I'll have to check out Ghost, too. Where does one begin?
Avatar 10:37pm Adamsworth:

Also another Maskaki Batoh project which I think is hugely underrated are his 2 albums with Helena Espvall. They can be found pretty cheap, too!
Avatar 10:38pm Adamsworth:

@Neanderthal the Ghost album Lama Rabi Rabi is my favorite, thought it's also the first one I ever heard.
Avatar 10:39pm Jeff Conklin:

this is from 1997!
Avatar 10:39pm Neanderthal Head:

Awesome, Adamsworth. I'll def check out.
Avatar 10:39pm Adamsworth:

the classic grunge sound, ha ha
Avatar 10:39pm Jeff Conklin:

just like Candlebox
Avatar 10:40pm Adamsworth:

I think I found this album super cheap used because I was online friends with that guy Lee Jackson in like 2000, maybe even '99..
Avatar 10:41pm Adamsworth:

He turned me on to so much cool stuff. He'd definitely be a regular listener to this show if he were still with us. RIP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm medson:

I forgot all about this being reissued
  10:46pm Eiderdown:

Those Batoh/Espvall records are fantastic!
  10:46pm Greg:

Loved that tradition into this new Myrrors track! This album has been on repeat since receiving it last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm medson:

This Myrrors album is great. It was waiting for me when I got home from vacation. Been on the turntable all day
Avatar 10:49pm Neanderthal Head:

Omg, this show is blowing my mind.
  10:49pm Jeff Conklin:

Ah man everyone’s heard this already :/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm medson:

@Jeff its awesome I dont mind hearing it : )
  10:51pm katharsis:

Hellos, This is a catchy tune.
  10:52pm Eiderdown:

I hadn’t heard it yet Jeff. Always good to hear more Myrrors
Avatar 10:53pm Jeff Conklin:

@katharsis: Toe tapper for sure
  10:58pm DJ E:

Is this still Lawn Boy?
  10:59pm DJ E:

Cool song
  11:00pm Fashion Tashjian:

Good morning from EVN.
Avatar 11:03pm Neanderthal Head:

Jeff Conklin, where have you been all my life?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm mb:

1st set looks good on paper
Avatar 11:07pm Jeff Conklin:

@DJ E: Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm Aitch:

Blotting paper?
  11:07pm J:

Yeah they're saying the Co Bros are the new Touchheads. Might have a point
  11:09pm herb.nyc:

Just back from central pk summerstage show organized by Richard barone, about the 60s Greenwich village. Reeeeal nice. Evan Davies was there, and Irene trudel. And John Sebastian and Jesse Colin young and josé Feliciano and Melanie and... (Oh my swag arrived, and there's the avant ghetto cd!)
  11:13pm MONEYBAG$:

I’m wandering around outside MPP trying to find shakedown. What did I miss?
  11:17pm Jeff Conklin:

Not much. Ask a cop where it is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm mb:

Very nice article in the NYT this weekend about the story of "Summer in the City". Would read again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Fuzzy:

"No, mother -- I'm MEDITATING!"
  11:22pm MONEYBAG$:

no shortage of cops here
Avatar 11:23pm Adamsworth:

@mb cool, I'm going to check that out. The Lovin Spoonful were such a weird band.
Avatar 11:24pm Jeff Conklin:

Ha, fuzzy.
Avatar 11:25pm Jeff Conklin:

Nice, herb. How was Jesse Colin Young??
Avatar 11:29pm Adamsworth:

I got the new Flower Room batch in the mail on Friday, been jamming it a bunch, especially the new Starbirthed. Not so much that I'm not psyched to hear it again though!
  11:31pm BushwickBill:

Are you making it to curveball Jeff?
Avatar 11:32pm Neanderthal Head:

@mb Thanks for the reading tip. That article mentions Lansing, MI, where I am now, as having a 'race riot' in '67. That history is so important - as events in D.C. show...
  11:32pm Jeff Conklin:

@BushwickBill: Nah.
  11:36pm phat:

making my urge to start a new band even stronger
  11:37pm BushwickBill:

Too bad. But looking forward to the monday am drive back with the AG archive. Think of us archive drivers as you are blasting off next sun.
Avatar 11:38pm Jeff Conklin:

Jam some archives in the campground!
  11:39pm MONEYBAG$:

I just tried to play the show on lot but it got drowned out by The Bee Gees
  11:39pm BushwickBill:

For sure. Loading up the app before I take off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm Todd76Pct:

Great show, Jeff! Really feelin' it tonight.
  11:41pm BushwickBill:

haha. MB$. Gonna need a bigger bluetooth.
Avatar 11:42pm Jeff Conklin:

Ah, thanks Todd
Avatar 11:42pm Jeff Conklin:

Its the thought that counts, MoneyBags.
Avatar 11:48pm jaywbabcock:

So great to hear the Cosmic Invention record! Had no idea it was being reissued. I think it was more of a Michio Kurihara-led project than Masaki Batoh but perhaps I've misunderstood.
  11:51pm zenkoan:

golly, Nathan Salzburg's playing is just gorgeous, as always
Avatar 11:52pm jaywbabcock:

If you like Cosmic Invention and Ghost from this period, the obvious next stop is: Sweet & Honey ‎"Live At Your Cosmic Mind" (1997)
Avatar 11:58pm Jeff Conklin:

Thanks for hanging, all. See ya next time...
Avatar 12:01am Neanderthal Head:

Great show. Thank you.
