Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm kuba:

Avatar 4:04pm hilmar:

the train is put on the ship...hallo...
Avatar 4:05pm David D:

Greetings Kuba, NGH, Brian and βrian! That is actually a giant wharf thing in Gdańsk. Didn't try to play on it, myself, although it does look like it could be fun.
Avatar 4:05pm David D:

And Hilmar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm doctorjazz:

Hey, strap hangers!
Avatar 4:06pm David D:

Avatar 4:11pm Brian in UK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Stanley:

How's everyone? I'm eating an iced lolly.
Avatar 4:12pm David D:

Stanley, send some over, please!
Avatar 4:13pm βrian:

Had to look that up: popsicle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm kuba:

a hot decaf here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Stanley:

It's a Mivvi and it's nearly gone. Sorry, David.
Avatar 4:15pm David D:

That's okay, cold drinks should get me through the studio heat...
Avatar 4:16pm Brian in UK:

African reggae has a groove all its own. As you would expect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm kuba:

@brian - that wheel thing is impressive! never seen anything like it! side note: the narration sounds totally slowed down
Avatar 4:18pm Brian in UK:

@kuba a dour Scotsman. Does not give it much life.
Avatar 4:18pm northguineahills:

That's the Free City of Danzig, to you! en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 4:18pm northguineahills:

(yes, they still have a gov't in exile).
Avatar 4:20pm hilmar:

once upon a time lech walesa climbed on that green thing but then it was still grey...now it is green...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Carmichael:

My next band will be called Giant Wharf Thing.
  4:26pm Tamar:

Hi David! It's the same temperature in NYC-- though my office has the luxury of good-enough air conditioning.
Avatar 4:26pm David D:

NGH: Funny they didn't mention the government in exile at the Free City of Danzig Museum, which is actually very much worth tracking down and visiting.
Avatar 4:28pm David D:

Giant Wharf Thing! And there's your t-shirt logo.
Avatar 4:28pm David D:

Tamar: I've got the window wide open, hoping for a breeze at some point...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Stanley:

I saw Alpha Blondy at Nyon Festival in 1986. he was a massive star back then. (On the same line up as James Brown no less). Don't hear much about him nowadays.
Avatar 4:36pm David D:

Nyon! I lived right near there for a year, missed Alpha Blondy by about two decades, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Stanley:

Nice one, David. you know Romandy. I hung out in Geneva with a bunch of freaks for that summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm kuba:

digging this percussion
Avatar 4:57pm David D:

Okay, here's some balafon...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm kuba:

keep the fons coming!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Carmichael:

Keep the Fonz coming ...
Avatar 5:06pm David D:

Fon(z)ing it in...
Avatar 5:08pm Brian in UK:

David, delicious music.
Avatar 5:16pm Brian in UK:

Things go better with a calabash.
Avatar 5:18pm David D:

And just a dash of one of NGH's peppers to round it out...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm doctorjazz:

Great groove you got going!
Have to go (finishing up a bit earlier than usual), catch you in the car
Thanks, David!
Avatar 5:25pm David D:

Thanks, Doc, sounds like a good idea in the heat - have a safe trip...
Avatar 5:29pm Brian in UK:

Got to cut and run, well walk in a dignified manner. All these sets are cookin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm kuba:

ugh. now a ton of bugs has gathered on the ceiling around the lamp
Avatar 5:29pm northguineahills:

All right, finished a project before tomorrow's deadline, so, I won't be all night after all.

When I say my ghost peppers are my crack, I'm not kidding. They are addictive AF, even more so then other peppers
Avatar 5:30pm northguineahills:

be here all night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm kuba:

just thinking about peppers made my mouth water. damn you, pavlov
Avatar 5:36pm northguineahills:

FUUUUUUUU, Stanko!!!! Kills me when genius passes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Carmichael:

I just had some Thai-marinated chicken thighs last Sunday. I whimpered like a homesick dog, they were so delicious.
Avatar 5:36pm northguineahills:

errrr.... when a genius passes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm kuba:

nice simile, carmichael. i screwed up my gnocchi today and was so sad to have wasted nice, fresh herbs from a friend's garden
Avatar 5:41pm David D:

We will have that picnic one day...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm kuba:

will there be subs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm kuba:

and a continental breakfast? (sorry)
Avatar 5:46pm David D:

Kuba: We always called them heros, back in the day. But hey, why not?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm kuba:

is this one of these soda/pop situations or capitalism & branding related?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Carmichael:

Or hoagies. Or Po Boys.
Avatar 5:51pm David D:

Could be both - I'm sure studies have been carried out. Hoagies is more of a Philadelphia thing, I believe.
Avatar 5:52pm northguineahills:

submarine sandwiches, or a torpedo? I think originally, it was regional etymology that determined what they were called, then certain companies ran w/ those terms.....
Avatar 5:54pm David D:

Hercules Heros could have made it big...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm kuba:

just went down the google image search & linguistic cartography rabbit hole...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Carmichael:

There's something from South Africa called The Gatsby, similar to a torpedo roll. Man, now I'm hungry.
Avatar 6:18pm northguineahills:

I think I may have never have heard this Cecil Taylor album....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm doctorjazz:

Just got home, loving the jazz/Stanko set, don't want to leave the car and turn it off ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm doctorjazz:

Have that CT on vinyl, but haven't listened to it in ages.
Avatar 6:42pm David D:

And now for something completely different, I guess...
  6:43pm Tamar:

Great show-- a wonderful antidote to all the maddening workthings I'm dealing with.
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

Merikanto, new to me, only 94 years too late!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Webhamster Henry:

We don't gat a lot of organ music on WFMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Webhamster Henry:

There's a really nice organ here in Kingston's Old Dutch Church. Really some new and old pieces should be played on it -- a lot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Webhamster Henry:

I believe this is the map long sandwich lovers want to see:
  6:49pm chresti:

Hello from sf!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm kuba:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm kuba:

@wh - definitely prefer this one to the boring scientific heatmap one
Avatar 6:50pm David D:

Thanks, Henry, that should settle it once and for all!
Avatar 6:51pm David D:

Hello Chresti!
Avatar 6:51pm David D:

And thanks, Tamar - glad to help unmadden things a bit.
Avatar 6:54pm northguineahills:

I convinced my parents to convince the musical director of their church to allow me access to their pipe organ to sample. That was fun!
Avatar 6:57pm northguineahills:

Po Boys and Cubans are different from subs in my experience. Never heard of a wedge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm kuba:

ngh - can we hear your parents' church's director's organ's samples somewhere?
Avatar 6:59pm northguineahills:

Never heard of a zep, either.

kuba: I'm still trying to think what to do w/ the samples. I mostly did glassian minimalism, but since, I was out of practice, only a few minutes here and there came out great. (I can probably salvage 12 mins).
Avatar 7:01pm David D:

Thanks everyone! (Looking forward to hearing those samples, NGH)
