Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm redkayak:

@geezerette - Considering I'm usually working in urban/suburban settings I do see my share of interesting creatures. Last week, for example daddy long leg spiders were everywhere :)

Birds are pretty low key these days now that breeding season is past....
Avatar 4:50pm geezerette:

@red, here in the city there's so much construction noise that the Mockingbirds are shouting to be heard. They're so good at projecting now that they're ready for opera.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm redkayak:

Avatar 4:52pm geezerette:

Having too much fun, gotta work.
Staying aboard though. :)
Avatar 5:00pm monkeyz:

Avatar 5:15pm northguineahills:

Finally getting around to brinner I brought w/ me in my Radio Blau tote!
Avatar 5:15pm monkeyz:

agreed, goes well with my summer drink of the week, lemon sherbet and beer.
Avatar 5:18pm northguineahills:

made some dominican rice and bean w/ ghost peppers, oh boy!
Avatar 5:20pm monkeyz:

oh that sounds swell!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm David D:

Sounds like another great picnic in the making!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm David D:

The lemon sherbet will help with the peppers.
Avatar 5:25pm northguineahills:

a working picnic at the office! Eno's "Baby's on Fire" would be appropriate right now. Nothing like Bhut Jolokia's from your own garden!
  5:27pm melinda:

Nice spacey sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm David D:

Bleep, bloop!
Avatar 5:30pm northguineahills:

I found a recording from Eimert at my uni's music library when I was an undergrad. I don't think I've heard him since....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm doctorjazz:

Sounds like late 60's free jazz, this Thornton . Cool stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm David D:

Those space sounds will always be the future...
Avatar 5:37pm northguineahills:

You'd think I'd heard of Clifford Thornton by now....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm doctorjazz:

New one for me too.
  5:40pm Dean:

I'd heard of him only through his appearance on a McPhee record issued by hat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm David D:

He played with Sun Ra and many others in addition to his own stuff. I believe McPhee's first recording was the one we just heard with Thornton.
Avatar 5:44pm northguineahills:

This McPhee reminds of a Cooper-Moore piece mixed w/ Sun Ra,,,,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm David D:

Correction: He was also previously on Sun Ra recordings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm David D:

I mean Thornton was - never mind the correction. My brain is fried.
Avatar 5:55pm monkeyz:

mmmhhhh fried brain, what a good dessert to the picnic ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm David D:

We used to call the weird plum desserts in our school cafeteria "brains", so it all makes sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm David D:

At least I think they were plum.
Avatar 6:00pm monkeyz:

this track reminds me of klaus schulze - not in a direct way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm doctorjazz:

Time to hit the road, Jack, catch you in the car! Thanks David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm David D:

Safe journey, Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm Stanley:

We're pulling into my station, too. Right on time.
Thanks David. Bye all
Avatar 6:01pm northguineahills:

I believe I've heard Emanuele E. Forni before.

laters, doctorjazz...
Avatar 6:09pm northguineahills:

How to speak Danish. Learn Swedish. Drink a few bottles of vodka. Fill your mouth w/ marbles. Proceed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm David D:

Good night, Stanley!
Avatar 6:18pm northguineahills:

How to dj like Bryce. Find a blender, fill w/ marbles, turn on blender.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm David D:

I'll have to see if we have one in the kitchen here. Maybe bottlecaps will fill in for marbles...
  6:48pm Dean:

Apologies if you mentioned in this on the air, but in a rave review of one of the volumes of Nightingale SQ's Langgaard records, Jim Svejda writes, "While a far less significant contribution than the composer’s 17 symphonies, Rued Langgaard’s string quartets—all early works—were largely written in response to the major emotional event of his life. While vacationing with his parents in Sweden during the summer of 1914, the 20-year-old composer met and fell in love with a girl named Dora—virtually all that posterity knows about her is her name—and in the following year began a musical sublimation of that doomed relationship, much as Smetana had done with his deafness in the Quartet 'From My Life.'"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm doctorjazz:

Lovely piece, made a nice car ride. Catch you all next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm David D:

Thanks, Dean, for filling in the backstory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm David D:

And thanks, doctorjazz!
Avatar 6:58pm northguineahills:

Thanks David!
Avatar 6:58pm monkeyz:

peace out, thanks for the music! till next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm David D:
