There's a good Sonatas and Interludes done by Joshua Pierce, whose done a lot of Cage work.

Welcome Fred and Ken and Henry and James and all.... I'm certain to hear about other great pieces and recordings that use prepared piano. Let's find as many as we can!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/18/18 3:12pm Webhamster Henry:

There's a Cage Trust endorsed Prepared Piano sampled instrument from Big Fish Audio, in case you don't have room for one, and a box of preparations and instructions.
Avatar Wed. 7/18/18 3:13pm david w:

Henry, that is so tempting. And interesting that it got endorsed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/18/18 3:14pm Webhamster Henry:

I was a little involved with Kevin Hobby's Hyperpiano project: wound strings are precisely unwound to achieve a desired partial structure:

Hello, David, Ruth, Ridgewoodians and properly prepared pianos.
Ears open!

I'm pretty sure The World Spins isn't from 1970: I wasn't born then, and I was in college when Twin Peaks blew my mind
Avatar Wed. 7/18/18 3:17pm geezerette:

"endangered guitar" :)
Avatar Wed. 7/18/18 3:17pm david w:

Thanks, Fred. Fixed.

Hello Gzette! These two have great titles and blurbs about their music, which I always admire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/18/18 3:19pm Webhamster Henry:

As you can hear in this Maroney/Tammen cut, there are few devices called "Hyperpiano". I think Tod Machover probably has one too.
Avatar Wed. 7/18/18 3:22pm david w:

Good point, Henry. That term was a little too low hanging to stay fresh forever.
Avatar Wed. 7/18/18 3:30pm geezerette:

Entrada, beautiful. Also great title.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/18/18 3:40pm Webhamster Henry:

The Una Corda piano by David Klavins is a lightweight piano that only has one string per note (usual pianos double and triple and quadruple them up), and has a "tone modulator" that presses felt on the strings.

Cool, Melinda. I did not immediately love this piece, being more attracted to their wilder stuff. But it is quite thoughtfully made.

Tenney seems to get the instrument to ring more than some of the other recordings (many that I adore). One magic hour. Enjoy.
