Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Afternoon, everyone!
Avatar 3:04pm northguineahills:

ahhh, man, that sounded fantabulous, stuff I miss not being in NYC!
Avatar 3:07pm david w:

Hello all! Fred, James, NGH, always a pleasure!
Avatar 3:08pm northguineahills:

Great, way to make me more homesick! :)
Avatar 3:16pm northguineahills:

(My MA was on modelling gentrification for non-profs to predict where it would happen to help them assist those in gentrification's peril. Unfortunately, it's too much of a behemoth to handle)
Avatar 3:17pm northguineahills:

I kept my Southern charm and said hello and talked to everyone on my block (I'm rather talkative, as you can tell), it led to certain advantages in Brooklyn, lets just say....
Avatar 3:18pm david w:

Oh, NGH, there's a challenge. Admirable.
Avatar 3:19pm fred:

I like this BKLYN!ZULU set. You've played them before, I think
Avatar 3:20pm david w:

Yes, Fred. I have. I want to see them keep at it!
Avatar 3:21pm northguineahills:

The challenge, how to balance getting reinvestment into the community w/o replacing it.....
Avatar 3:21pm βrian:

I'm fed up. Fed up with gavage!
Avatar 3:21pm northguineahills:

It's happening here in G-ville as well (on a smaller scale).
Avatar 3:25pm Sem:

Hello, DW, the Ridgewood crew, and all assembled here, now, for this.
Avatar 3:25pm david w:

Ruth says G-ville is kind of a cool town.
Avatar 3:26pm david w:

Hey, Sem! Adventure for you today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm steveo:

hi! enjoying BKLYN!ZULU
Avatar 3:27pm northguineahills:

This is what my friends are working on to fight gentrification in Bushwick: www.nwbcommunity.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Webhamster Henry:

Gentrification is raising its gilded head in Kingston as well. Am I part of the problem? I would be if I had a job or something.
Avatar 3:30pm βrian:

England/Croatia 1-1 so far.
Avatar 3:30pm northguineahills:

ack, missed the Croatia goal! Blasted work!
Avatar 3:31pm βrian:

Yeah, I can't find it streaming anywhere. I may have to duck out to the bar.
Avatar 3:32pm northguineahills:

(I'm using my brother's FoxGo password).
Avatar 3:35pm northguineahills:

Does BRKLYN!ZULU have any connection to the Soul Sonic Force (the Africa Bambaataa collective)?
Avatar 3:36pm northguineahills:

I got priced out of Brooklyn.....
Avatar 3:38pm Sem:

I'm up for it, David.

Adventure is my middle name. Long story (family, eccentricity)
Avatar 3:41pm david w:

Sorry, NGH. ZULU crew is relatively young and we have not really been able to dig deep into their origin story, though Ali Santana's family is musical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Webhamster Henry:

This is fun - what was going on on screen?
Avatar 3:50pm david w:

For Gantt, the screen had his friend playing a VR game and wandering through imaginary landscapes.
Avatar 3:55pm northguineahills:

awww, I miss Julie!
Avatar 3:56pm βrian:

Modular Squelch!
Avatar 4:00pm david w:

The DJ Shakey event series that am blathering about:
Avatar 4:16pm fred:

Amazing how these sets work so well without their video component
Avatar 4:18pm david w:

Yes, Fred. Agreed. The is 100 minutes plucked out of about 400 minutes recorded at the festival. So, it's selective...
Avatar 4:22pm βrian:

Croatia up by one.
Avatar 4:22pm fred:

@david: of course it's selective, but for 25% to reach that autonomy is a pretty high level. Especially appealing to me because I'm short so usually don't get to see much
Avatar 4:23pm david w:

Thanks, βrian. I'm trying to focus so glad to have the help!
Avatar 4:24pm northguineahills:

well, Mazukavic got one in ET....
Avatar 4:33pm fred:

This Tom Hall set is stellar, clicky-stellar even
Avatar 4:36pm david w:

Wow, Fred. Cool. Don't get him confused with the sax Tom Hall from Boston. Interesting character.
Avatar 4:40pm βrian:

Croatia prevails.
Avatar 4:45pm fred:

@david: Is this the right Tom Hall? www.tomhall.com.au
Avatar 4:46pm david w:

That is he.
Avatar 4:46pm northguineahills:

quiero francia ganar en domingo.... (for selfish reasons....)
Avatar 4:49pm fred:

Nice; I saw on his bio that he worked for Cycling '74, which means one of my many bosses might know him and could tell me if/when he tours nearby
Avatar 4:53pm david w:

Yeah, his tech is very advanced yet he likes those retro oscillators.
Avatar 4:54pm northguineahills:

Thanks david, awesome show!
Avatar 4:55pm david w:

Thanks, NGH and everybody. And extra thanks to the artists who let me play this stuff with it's head cut off!
Avatar 4:56pm fred:

Thanks david, as always (and that boss is the one who once played on WFMU)
Avatar 4:58pm david w:

FMU influence at Pompidou. Love it.
Avatar 4:59pm fred:

I put him in touch with Nat Roe when I heard he was going to NYC
