Hi David ... totally tuned in ....
Avatar 3:18pm david w:

Yay stéphanie!!! Lots of goodies for you today!
Avatar 3:18pm geezerette:

Well THAT'S a relief! Thanks, David. :)
Avatar 3:19pm david w:

I am a sucker for fireworks and BBQ, but neither of those transmit well on the radio, thankfully.
Avatar 3:27pm Sem:

Listening, eyes closed...
Avatar 3:29pm david w:

Cool, Sem. This next few hours has lots of eyes-closed-soak-it-in stuff.
Avatar 3:33pm geezerette:

We're having pulled pork, can't resist that either; been hearing fireworks near and far in every direction for days.
Avatar 3:33pm fred:

Good afternoon David, Ruth, and listeners. I'm spending some time on the main stream too today (PGB is there and I haven't heard his show in a long time)
Avatar 3:35pm david w:

Hello Fred! I understand of course and thanks for popping in. Archive guaranteed!
Avatar 3:35pm geezerette:

Hiya Fred!
Avatar 3:37pm fred:

Let's say switching between stream is a study in contrasts. I'm almost tempted to pull a Kenzo move and play both, but this one here would get drowned out
Avatar 3:41pm david w:

Double streaming! Ives lives!
Avatar 3:46pm david w:

Post show menu is heavy on grilled veggies, chips and guac, and hamburgers by request. I brought popsicles but they melted in my backpack.
Avatar 3:52pm northguineahills:

Nice Dresser! (which reminds me, I need to buy a new one).
Avatar 3:53pm northguineahills:

I'm an expert at grilling veggies, I make some mean carrot dogs!
Avatar 3:54pm david w:

Top drawer!

I haven't seen seen Maria Chavez since she left NYC (But she got to meet my Mexi wife). My favorite show of hers was when she played a show on the roof of my friend's apt above Matchless (in Greenpoint) and there was only a vertical ladder through a hatch to get to said roof. I helped her carry her turntables down said hatch, which was challenge. Talibam! also played, and getting Kevin Shea's drums down the same hatch was nearly impossible. But we managed.
Avatar 4:20pm northguineahills:

(For non-Brooklynites, that intersection overlooked McCarren Park)
Avatar 4:23pm david w:

Chavez comes up in Part 2 today when I channel Kenzo for two hours. For the Matchless show, I'd almost imagine Talibam! letting you toss their stuff off the roof!
Avatar 4:25pm northguineahills:

@david: We almost did w/ netting through the window. (hung out w/ the lads in FL on their our the weekend before last)
Avatar 4:27pm northguineahills:

err... on their tour...
Avatar 5:32pm fred:

I'm back, but not for long... early meeting tomorrow, and since it's a one on one thing, I can't even use it to catch up on sleep. That boss is talkative though...
Avatar 5:35pm david w:

Gotcha, Fred. Maria Chavez up next so you have to decide if that will send you dreaming or keep you up all night!
Avatar 5:38pm Sem:

Mind awhirl in the music, eyes still wide shut. Thank you, DW, and Ridgeway wonders.

Howdy, gang!
Avatar 5:42pm david w:

Glad to hear you are seeing, Sem... and welcome Gary!
Avatar 5:49pm fred:

I had never heard of her before, but the start makes me really interested. I'll stick around a little longer
Avatar 5:52pm david w:

This is a good introduction, though 8 years past, as she built the evening as a retrospective. And I left some of her commentary in, which I rarely do.
Avatar 5:58pm david w:

This piece uses Margareth Kammerer and The Magic I.D. "till my breath gives out" vinyl on Erstwhile Records.
Avatar 6:03pm geezerette:

Like her a lot!
New to me too.
Avatar 6:07pm david w:

Chavez tours constantly across USA and Europe. You may get a chance to encounter.
Avatar 6:12pm fred:

I hope I'll get the chance. But she might be a little too big for Instants Chavirés, and anyway their financial difficulties mean they'll have to cut back on shows until next year
Avatar 6:20pm fred:

Thanks David for introducing me to her music! I hate to leave during this great set, but I have to sleep. That early meeting is to prepare a later meeting. Just typing the word "meeting" makes me sleepy, and that's three times in two sentences.
Avatar 6:21pm david w:

Thanks, Fred. Appreciate your ears always!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Gary:

It was Kenzoey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi David - I was out so I'll have to catch this in the archive!
Avatar 6:54pm david w:

I'll post after the BBQ! See you in the archives Henry! And thanks Gary for the affirmation!
Avatar 6:59pm david w:

Stay tuned for Gary S. 5 more hours of Drummer delight! Thanks all!
