  6:06am David in London:

Morning to you Jeffrey and my fellow shrunken heads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13am Jeffrey Davison:

Glad to be here, and glad to see y'all...annie, spamoni, duke and David in London.
  6:14am testingwithfire:

Morning Jeffrey and tiny cosmonauts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17am Zetti:

Hey friends! Listening from rainy Poconos Pa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23am annie:

ok, i'm back on this tab again. good morning shrunken fans! i found some juicy news articles for dissemination to the teeming hordes. it's the end of week one at this pet-sit, ready to see the second week go just as smoothly. this place is wet, green, and lush with birds and wildlife, i love it. there's a nest of Eastern Peewee babies in the carport. the parents are as active and any barn swallow could be against the two outside cats. the fledglings are ready to jump to freedom; i wonder what it is in their genes which directs them to stay for now, have another mouthful of flying bug.. this is my happiness for now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26am Jeffrey Davison:

Sounds nice, annie. All I have is Pizza Rat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26am Jeffrey Davison:

And hey to testingwithfire, Zetti.
Avatar 6:27am TDK60:

  6:30am testingwithfire:

@Zetti where in the Poconos? Cresco was where I spent my toddler years back when the resorts were still booming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30am jkeigh:

Good Morning Everyone. It's good to be back on this Shrunken Planet
Avatar 6:32am TDK60:

On birds: I first heard then saw a catbird yesterday. Love their gray color.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42am annie:

catbirds are great!! i think the most fascinating of birds is the Pileated Woodpecker, followed by the Flicker family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42am Jeffrey Davison:

Welcome jkeigh, TDK60, and all fans of vinyl, chromium dioxide, shellac, and what have you, per se, and so on, forthwith.
  6:42am David in London:

@TDK - Being a Brit, I've never seen a catbird. Just looked at a picture online. What an elegant little thing.
  6:44am Marshland:

Morning all. Are you at the Leigh-on-Sea Folk Festival this weekend David?
Avatar 6:47am TDK60:

David in London. They do have sound similar to a cat.
  6:48am David in London:

@Marshland - Sadly not. Rather stuck inside doing a sub-ed job this weekend. However, I have Wednesday off, and was planning to do the walk from Leigh back to Benfleet along the estuary path, which is a favourite of mine. Are you going?
Avatar 6:50am TDK60:

Heheh, the last few bands' names sound like hippies.
  6:51am Marshland:

Yes, I'll be going for the late sets this evening (9-11pm) and all day tomorrow, should be great.
  6:52am David in London:

@TDK - Wow, I just listened to a sound file. It does sound exactly like a kitten. That's glorious!
  6:53am Luke:

The Bong Bummer Union from the Great state of Jeeferson
  6:54am David in London:

@Marshland - Thomas Truax is playing on Sunday. He's always a hoot. Damn, wish I could go. Have a rollicking folky old time yourself, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55am Zetti:

@testingwithfire Sorry for the late response, busy making breakfast. I live in Reeders, Pa near Tannersville, Stroudsburg.
  6:57am adrian in mpls:

Morning all! A bit late to this - but saw my first catbird a couple of weeks ago - a happy find on a bike ride
  6:57am Marshland:

Thanks, yes, have seen Thomas play lots of times, mostly at the Railway Hotel in Sarfend. Am looking forward to seeing You Are Wolf & Stick in the Wheel of course.
  6:59am David in London:

@Marshland - Are you based in Southend, then? I'm there reasonably regularly for work (as we have a small office there). Any excuse for a Rossi's ice cream...
  7:01am Marshland:

@David in London - I'm in Canvey Island, so not far away.
Avatar 7:01am spamoni:

@Zetti hi neighbor I'm in Matamoras,Pa.
  7:04am David in London:

@Marshland - Got it. Ah, the legend that is Canvey. I love that whole south Essex coast. It's such an amazing landscape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am testingwithfire:

@Zetti @spamoni wayback machine: One of Frank "Vanilla Bean" Balesteri's radio gigs before WFMU was at WVPO, a little AM station out of East Stroudsburg. I was lucky enough to hear his show there when I was in high school. 1979-80, so lots of amazing new music for him to play.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am Jeffrey Davison:

Welcome Marshland, Luke, adrain in mpls, and various seers, prophets, soothsayers, long-in-the-tooth sayers, and all ya playaz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am Doobois:

Howdy, Spamoni. I visit your town around this time every year. As a New York resident, I can't say why... :)
Avatar 7:17am spamoni:

@Doobois if you blink you'll pass right thru
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am Zetti:

@spamoni Hi!, Very nice up there!

@testingwithfire. I clearly remember the Vanilla Bean, I called into the station (wfmu) several times to speak with him, once almost getting him tossed off the air for a second time. Was that radio station part of East Stroudsburg University? ESU still broadcasts on FM.
Avatar 7:21am spamoni:

@ testingwithfire those were my Jersey years and WNTI out on Centenary College
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am Zetti:

@spamoni It's sad what happened to WNTI.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am redkayak:

Good morning, all :)
Avatar 7:29am spamoni:

@annie it's been 4 weeks and Myah is officially in charge driving both me and Bella crazy and we love it!
Avatar 7:31am spamoni:

@ Zetti what happened?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am annie:

hehe @spamoni, i'm SO glad to hear that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am annie:

i was reading an article about mr prine and how his music is actually a benefit to those experincing depression symtpoms. Blues, the healer
Avatar 7:33am TDK60:

It's Midsummer in parts of Europe right? People gather at Stonehenge or make bonfires in parts of France. St John the Baptist for some Christians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am annie:

i'm very fascinated by the rituals of old and the honoring of all souls passed and currently active. (and, yes, i mant to spell "passed" that way.) :-)
Avatar 7:39am TDK60:

I think the Puritans in New England tried to stamp out any ancient/pagan celebrations so Amerikinz don't celebrate but I've heard various Native groups have similar rites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am Zetti:

In 2015 the collage sold the station to NPR, not telling the DJs and other lifelong volunteers. They showed up to find the studio dark and doors locked. Could you imagine that happening to WFMU?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am annie:

those damn puritans...i i wish england had banished them to australia instead, well, if they hadn't i'd have had completely different life... oh well, i'm glad to be murkan. what station Zetti?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43am annie:

aahh, i see, zetti.
Avatar 7:43am spamoni:

@Zetti WNTI is still on the air @91.9 i don't know the format but nothing compares to WFMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am annie:

looks like talk schmalk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am Zetti:

Yes, WNTI is still on the air but not the same.
  7:46am David in London:

@ Annie - We've got plenty of puritans left in old England, so we didn't banish them all... But spend a solstice at Avebury (THE stone circle in England, forget Stonehenge) and thankfully the old ways are still very much alive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am testingwithfire:

@zetti I'm not sure about the station's ownership; I remember that Frank's was really the only listenable show on the station, so I doubt it was a college station.
Avatar 7:50am spamoni:

@David in London I've been watching the Royal Ascot all week what a show they've put on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am Zetti:

Be back shortly, out to collect the eggs and clean the coop.
  7:58am David in London:

@spamoni - Yes, it's quite the event of the season, isn't it? I read somewhere this week that they are enforcing a strict sock rule on the gentlemen.
Avatar 7:59am wolfg:

morning all
Avatar 7:59am wolfg:

jeffrey always sounds a bit illuminated, but perhaps it's just the morning hour
Avatar 8:01am wolfg:

one thing u learn from the Talmud: do not talk about your enemies .. that's why Jesus isn't mentioned there .... Puritans? shhhh!!!!
Avatar 8:01am wolfg:

I see, jeffrey
Avatar 8:04am TDK60:

I won't mention Prudes anymore. Hurrah to all homo, trans, in-between, and yes hetero, folks, who'll march in Pride parades tomorrow!

Avatar 8:23am wolfg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am Jeffrey Davison:

hey there wolfg...don't know too much alpine folk, but I'm sure I've heard some stuff over the years...
Avatar 8:29am wolfg:

is very unpopular in Alpine countires....is hard to find the real stuff, only a few people do that kind of music or listen to it
Avatar 8:30am TDK60:

Wow, that Kristofferson tune is all the way back to his 1st LP-1970. Its opening tune, a funny one "Blame It On the Stones."
Avatar 8:35am wolfg:

that's not so bad www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am annie:

if there's any of that alpine stuff on fmu, you're likely to find it on GTDS's show
Avatar 8:38am TDK60:

The Flying Burrito Bros. I don't hear those old hippy country-rock bands so much anymore: Byrds, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Commander Cody, Poco, Gram Parsons, etc. Except here of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am annie:

and please be sure to catch Holy Modal Rounders.
Avatar 8:47am wolfg:

www.youtube.com... they all look like a bunch of fascists, but the lyrics are just about love, sex, the wind and the forest and the mountains
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47am annie:

...and the [word-for-leaving-church-after-the-service] has begun. recessional? thank you jeffrey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks everyone for being out there. Otherwise, not much sense of being in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats, the planet is shrinking as is our time together this morning. Thanks for the tunes, Jeffrey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am WillCrete:

Thanks again for the fine sounds to start out this Saturday Jeffery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am Jeffrey Davison:

And a late hello to Ken From Hyde Park, WillCrete...
Avatar 8:56am wolfg:

be certain, Jeffrey, you do have faithful and grateful listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00am jkeigh:
