Wow, lookee who's here! Guess I better open on time today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00am Stanley:

How you doing Bill? Warm and claggy afternoon, here.
Avatar 9:01am Sem:

Hello, Bill, Stanley. Cheesecake is God's apology.

Going to 0C/32F here tonight. Garden damage implied.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am Stanley:

False start, everyone back to the line.
Avatar 9:03am Sem:

Hell, no! I'm already halfway around the track.
Avatar 9:03am Jay/London:

good afternoon bill only just saw ur email :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am Stanley:

Hi Sem. You'd better cover up them tender little plants.
Jay! How's /London?
Swag For Life Member 9:05am Rich in NC:

Good morning all, thanks for the heads up Bill!
Avatar 9:05am Bill Mac:

Warm and claggy here too. Morning gents, sorry for the late notice. Everything is last minute these days. Glad to see you here!
  9:11am Doug Schulkind:

Our Zero!
Avatar 9:12am Jay/London:

hi stanley it hot here .. at mo and up the north ?
Avatar 9:12am Bill Mac:

I'm on! Had to crank start the ciphering device and here we are!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Stanley:

Hi Jay. Warm and thunderstorms threatening.
Meanwhile, nursing a bit of thick head due to late night and whisky and I'm having to do my father's French tax return today. In French!
Avatar 9:22am Bill Mac:

@Stanley Is he living there because of the taxes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Stanley:

Haha, Bill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Stanley:

Great Mustaphas album, that. Track sounded a bit Haitian style to me.
Avatar 9:25am Jay/London:

yes stanley i very much over did the drinking on friday at a motown bank night
  9:25am V Priceless:

Hey Bill! Happy freakin’ 79th to Ian Hunter, by the way!
Avatar 9:27am Bill Mac:

Hey, those are the kinds of questions I ask because I'm totally ignorant of living details elsewhere. For instance, these days is really expensive to live on the East Coast here.
Avatar 9:28am Bill Mac:

@VP - Hunter is 79.... wow... you know he's doing a few shows this summer with Morgan Fisher & Arial Bender...
Avatar 9:29am Sem:

Shocked by the price of everything in Oxfordshire, UK, during the April visit there, Bill. Canadian money x the exchange of 1.8 = local prices!
  9:30am V Priceless:

@ Bill - yes! Hoping they get to the states with that!
Avatar 9:31am Bill Mac:

@sem It seems like we touch on living expenses in other places on a regular basis. I've always wondered how feasiable it would be for a Yank to live someplace like NS, Labrador or Newfoundland.
  9:39am V Priceless:

Woo! Nice one, Bill! Mott forever!
  9:40am Will:

Bill does one of those shows where it helps to have Discogs right nearby so these wildly flung oddities can be further checked. [Spoken as the biggest nerdball in the world]...Will J, Pawtucket
Avatar 9:40am Sem:

So many intangibles and taken-for-granteds in that assessment. Sure, it takes 0.77 US cents to buy a Canadian dollar, amd friends who moved here from Orange County, Calif., said they had better internet access speed than there, BUT...
As for Labrador, if you want to live at 51 degrees north, try Oxfordshire, UK. Same latitude but minus the tundra, seals, Inuit, and 11 month winters.
Avatar 9:40am Sem:

Lovin' the Hoople.
Avatar 9:40am Bill Mac:

This is different from the album version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Stanley:

London is incredibly expensive. I don't know how people manage.
Avatar 9:41am Jay/London:

its very hard stanley .. and now i have had to give up work
Avatar 9:42am Bill Mac:

@Will Most of what comes out of my mouth is from the heart not the head.... think of it as a game... I know I do
  9:42am V Priceless:

Cool, yeah. Never heard this. Mental Train - early version?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Stanley:

Oh dear, Jay. Hope you have things covered.
Avatar 9:47am Jay/London:

well Stanley had to go on benefits and food bank sometimes :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Stanley:

You have to get pretty canny when you're in that circumstance. Good luck, mate.
  9:56am Jeff g. via app:

Cheers, Bill, and fellow listeners!
Avatar 9:56am Bill Mac:

Yo ho Jeff!
  9:57am wendy del formaggio:

Avatar 10:07am Bill Mac:

He had a one off a few years back doing SAHB & SAHB without Alex material... I think he needs a vocalist.
  10:15am V Priceless:

Zal’s new thing is under the band name ‘Sin Dogs’
  10:17am Michael and Birgit:

Hey Bill, short visit, but I`m out now .Back at home.
Avatar 10:17am Bill Mac:

@VP Hope it's good. I'm a big fan.
  10:18am Jeff g. via app:

Bill, have you listened to Mary H's new one, Code Girl? I haven't gotten to it yet.
Avatar 10:20am Bill Mac:

@Jeff Can't say I have.... you wouldn't know if we have it here?
  10:23am Jeff g. via app:

Not sure; believe it's been played, but haven't laid eyes on it.

Avatar 11:00am glenn:

well, detroit was a french fort, so...
  11:02am rw:

UM, Your show the other day made me pull out the E.Costello records and think about my college radio days. KJHK, not far from you! You weren't there in the early '80s were you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Uncle Michael:

rw, yes, I've been here since '80, minus one 2.5 year span. I'll bet we know people in common. I had no idea you hailed from around here. KJHK was once great...and the *second* radio station to ever stream online.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am doctorjazz:

Hey, just made it. Went to Philly last night to hear Nels Cline perform Lover. Great show, really late getting home...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Uncle Michael:

(jealous of Doc)
Avatar 11:08am Bill Mac:

Hey DJ, at Union Transfer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Stanley:

Good. that's the old man's tax return done. Two hours it took. I meant to do it this morning but slept in for some unknown reason.
Avatar 11:11am Bill Mac:

Maybe to avoid doing taxes?
  11:12am rw:

UM, I grew up in So. Cal. but was at KU in '82-'84. I'll bet we do know people in common. I still talk to and see Frank Morris occasionally. Wade Johnston too. You know either of those guys?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Stanley:

To avoid doing anything, as it happens. Now liberated I shall enjoy the rest of the show and I'm out to a gig later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Uncle Michael:

No. The music guys I know would be Steve Wilson and Todd Newman. Bet we were at all the same shows at the Lawrence Opera House.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am doctorjazz:

Yup, at Union Transfer, watta great band they put together. Ars Nova even printed up books with essays by different writers, didn't get to read them yet, Ben Ratliff was one, quite a few others. Show was dedicated to Philly. (pain to get there and back, but I like Philly...).
  11:16am rw:

I remember Todd! How's he doing? Yeah, I'm sure we crossed paths a few times. Did Iggy Pop play the Opera House? Shockabilly? Those are a couple shows I remember.
Avatar 11:17am Bill Mac:

@I'm 25 minutes from UW but haven't been there's in a couple years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am doctorjazz:

(then again, it's a pain to get to Manhattan and back from Central Jersey as well)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am doctorjazz:

Like this Elf Power!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Uncle Michael:

Iggy at the Opera House three years running. Todd's been in Minneapolis for many years. He works at an art museum and is a single dad. He moved up there with The Leatherwoods, the band he formed with Tim O'Reagan long before Tim joined the Jayhawks. You must remember Steve...fronted Thums and worked at Keif's Records.
Avatar 11:21am Bill Mac:

Me too! I wasn't expecting it to be this catchy
  11:21am rw:

I remember one night at the radio station Todd Newman peeking through the window to see what song the DJ was about to play and then calling to request that song. Doing it several times in a row with different voices. Every time the DJ would come out and say, "Hey, you'll never guess what just happened!"
Avatar 11:22am glenn:

any relation to cat power?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Uncle Michael:

That's absolutely something Todd would do.
  11:23am rw:

Yeah, it was that moment that I realized he had done that to me too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Uncle Michael:

One day I was driving around Lawrence and listening to KJHK and Todd was on someone's show as a guest, playing "chooglin'" records.
  11:25am melinda:

HI all
Avatar 11:26am Bill Mac:

Hiya Mel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am doctorjazz:

Avatar 11:27am Bill Mac:

UM A chooglin' record!
  11:27am rw:

That's Todd! Tell him hello for me! Robert Wedemeyer. See if he remembers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Stanley:

Never tire of this
I'm always threatenin' t' go down t' N'Orleans-uh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Uncle Michael:

I'll ask him now...and yes, the Captain choogles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Uncle Michael:

Todd says he remembers the name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am doctorjazz:

Ahhh, 60's stereo...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Stanley:

Digging this new(?) bed music
  11:32am rw:

Bill, I pulled out Doc at the Radar Station yesterday and played it real loud in the back yard for me and all my neighbors. I'd forgotten how good that record is.
Avatar 11:32am Bill Mac:

@DJ I was surprised to find we have two Enoch Light releases on CD here. They don't make 'em like that anymore
Avatar 11:33am Bill Mac:

@rw Love that late 70s period CB

  11:43am melinda:

I love Shiver Me Timbers
Avatar 11:43am Sem:

Lovely thing, this Waits. Taking me way back. Listen, his vocal chords sound chromed.

  11:54am rw:

Beautiful! Very midwest. And the lunch menu sounds amazing. Dinner menu, I mean.
Avatar 11:55am Bill Mac:

@UM When I remember I had an opportunity to see him about 25 years ago and didn't I cud kick myself
Avatar 11:56am northguineahills:

What is lunch? I have a lot of cleaning and gardening to get done, so if I eat anything today it will probably be a Jamaican patty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Uncle Michael:

I'm gonna go get street tacos for lunch after the show and before the baseball game.
Avatar 11:57am northguineahills:

ZZ Top would still come last in my records even w/ ZZ Hill.

Hello Bill, due to having visitors will avail myself of the archives.
Cheesecake update. We had a delicious rhubarb one. Fresh from the garden, with pistachios, it was part made with Quark! Tasted better the second day after it had infused somewhat. End of update. Over.
