Listener comments!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Alison Porchnik:

Where did you find that brochure?
Avatar 3:03pm AnAnonymousParty:

I find the idea that I could be cremated by a chimpanzee upon my demise frankly intriguing.
Avatar 3:03pm Listening Out There:

Avatar 3:04pm Roberto:

I am indeed considering cremation, although I'm intrigued by that newer method that's somewhat akin to liquification.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Crushed with a giant mallet, Gallagher-style. That's what I'm going to request. Slip my flattened carcass with the squirrels' for later re-inflation.
Avatar 3:09pm AnAnonymousParty:

I'd want it to be the case that right after the service, the chimp would run out, pull a lever, and a door would open through which the coffin would disappear as flames leapt though the opening, leaving the onlookers with one final expression of "WTF!" on their faces. That appeals to me.
  3:10pm KP in DC:

Closest sync between iPhone and iPad ever and perfect song for it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Michael 98145:

don't get soap in your eyes
Avatar 3:18pm Irwin:

AP: Found that mag in the WFMU kitchen. We subscribe because it conveys the TRUTH about JC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm maestroso:

Is this a Shaggs song?
Avatar 3:19pm Irwin:

Of course.
Avatar 3:19pm AnAnonymousParty:

The drummer's no Helen Wiggin, thoguh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm maestroso:

Wow, it's really done well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Michael 98145:

someone has a natural talent for collage
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Zetti:

that was good.
Avatar 3:40pm Listening Out There:

Klaus...ah, it's been ages...
  3:41pm jess:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm rrg:

This is quite a program you have here today.
Avatar 3:48pm Irwin:

Goes downhill from here.
Avatar 3:48pm Irwin:

Considering cremation.
Avatar 3:49pm AnAnonymousParty:

You should try Lancelot Link Cremation services.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Vincent Nifigance:

I want to get disposed of at no expense to my family. Funerals are the ultimate gyp.
Avatar 3:52pm AnAnonymousParty:

They offer Spontaneous Combustion, but it's expensive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Vincent Nifigance:

My best friend says he wants his corpse dressed in a red velvet tuxedo, tied by the legs to a donkey that is scared off cantering into the desert with a boombox on its back playing Story of My Life by the Velvet Undeground.
Avatar 3:54pm AnAnonymousParty:

That's nice, but everybody is doing that these days.
Avatar 3:54pm Itzall Ablurr:

Vincent Nifigance, that's a delightful image!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Parq:

Vincent, I suspect that your friend's local health department might have something to say about that. That said, I would enthusiastically add that I would hitchhike across the country in the middle of winter to attend that funeral.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm rrg:

Yes, RT wrote "I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight". Richard and his son Teddy contributed to that Dori Freeman album but I'm not sure if either played on that song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Parq:

This Bent Knee track is epic.
Avatar 4:02pm Lixiviated Life:

once again, it's the incredible...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm rrg:

It's nice the way you tease the entry on the playlist. First the title...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm rrg:

..then the artist...
  4:04pm andrewb:

That piano needs tuning but otherwise lovely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm rrg:

...and then the "album". (Except no "album" this time.)
Avatar 4:06pm Irwin:

rrg: Actually it's a necessity to add the timestamp relatively accurately.
  4:09pm choggie:

Solid grooves Irwin, cheers from Houston
Avatar 4:10pm Irwin:

Thanks to Hoboken Jack for this one.
  4:11pm choggie:

Q: What is the definition of safe sex down in New Jersey? A: Placing signs on the animals that kick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm rrg:

  4:12pm choggie:

Doth exit 4 protest?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Funerals and other end-of-life discussions at Death Café events. www.deathcafe.com There's one in the town library up here tomorrow night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm rrg:

Exit 14, but still.
Avatar 4:16pm Irwin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm rrg:

The latter. 135 on the GSP.
Avatar 4:19pm geezerette:

There's that beautiful jazz! Aaron Goldberg is news to me, thanks, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm rrg:

I saw John Gorka once at the Bottom Line. He sang his "I'm from New Jersey" and explained about the different exit numbers and gave his own.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm rrg:

The original!

Oh, wait...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Mark Hurst:

Great set, Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Colleen:

I love this station...All day long...Starting with Clay of coarse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm crateslinger:

do not let a chimp near my body
Avatar 4:24pm geezerette:

Is cremation of an incorporeal radio show even possible?
Although, babies are being attempted using DNA from 3 people
in one egg...so...
Avatar 4:26pm Irwin:

Hello, Mr. Techman. Hope the set is accompanying productive labor or relaxing idleness. There is no in-between.
  4:30pm choggie:

sorry joisey, no ill-will intended (rrg)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm crateslinger:

@Colleen - you should have heard Clay when he was Nachem. Boy would he knock your socks off then!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In our short attention span society of today, the funeral should show a quick video clip of the deceased's life, à la a movie trailer. With embellished explosions and passionate kisses, of course.
Avatar 4:32pm Fredericks:

On that last piece Oliver Nelson sounded like a thinner toned Sonny Rollins.
Avatar 4:37pm Seanbelly:

Hi, I'm looking for yodeling recommendations.
Avatar 4:38pm Irwin:

Sean: If you're serious, former WFMU staffer Bart Plantenga has made a multi-year study of the form. Look for him online. He has a book, possibly a podcast.
  4:39pm geegee vindaloo:

Got into Tokyo last night from Boston. hello from Thursday.
Avatar 4:39pm Seanbelly:

Wonderful, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Nick the Bard:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Rich in Washington:

I forgot about that new(ish) Bran Flakes album! Seemed like it showed up during a flurry of new releases.
Avatar 4:48pm Irwin:

Quality-wise it's as good as any previous Bran. They never miss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Rich in Washington:

I remember liking it and playing a large chunk on the air when it came out. Too much music. Everybody slow the hell down!
Avatar 4:51pm Irwin:

Member when home taping was killing music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Rich in Washington:

I home taped like there was no tomorrow but music is still here. What gives?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Alison Porchnik:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Michael 98145:

do i remember fees put on cassettes to address that 'problem' ...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Rich in Washington:

I liked how some Alternative Tentacles EP releases on cassette had 'Home taping is killing the record industry. We left the other side blank so you can help' emblazoned on the tape shell.
  5:02pm ?:

Wait, why is she biting her engagement ring?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm joe mulligan:

Avatar 5:08pm Fredericks:

Irwin, I missed the interview you did a little while back; is it archived anywhere?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm coelacanth∅:

yup! ...i have all her releases - it's just good to hear the favorites in a different context sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm rrg:

"I think you're a phony". I don't know why that lyric always makes me laugh. But I love this song.
  5:32pm Johnzon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm geo in jc:

Massive Wagons or Big Trucks in New Jersey speak.
Avatar 5:51pm Irwin:

That Massive Wagons track mesmerizes me. I dunno what it is. Can't find another song by that band that's even worth airing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Michael 98145:

thanks again, Irwin
Avatar 5:55pm Irwin:

You am welcome all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm queems:

Avatar 5:57pm Irwin:

Bird calls by Augie Colon.
Avatar 5:57pm geezerette:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm queems:

all songs should have bird calls in them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm rrg:

Good stuff today. Go home and rest now. Let those 7SD folks run the board themselves.
Avatar 5:59pm Fredericks:

Not that one, Irwin. You were the subject.
Avatar 5:59pm Fredericks:

Well, Sun Ra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm queems:
