Friday morning pilgrim who can't listen regularly because of time zones. Great show as always.
Avatar 9:52pm Franco Twinkie:

Man, I just woke up, did anybody make coffee? Didn't the Byrds do a cover of this?
  9:56pm chresti:

Did Neil Diamond wear sparkly jumpsuits?
That’s how I picture him.
Avatar 9:58pm coelacanth∅:

- but the byrds changed the word "korean" to "cheeses"
Avatar 9:59pm Franco Twinkie:

That was the Gram Parsons influence, i guess,

I liked whatever the hit was (one or two of many) when I heard it on the radio

Avatar 10:02pm Franco Twinkie:

Dear, I think you.re confusing Gram with Neil. Gram wore the sparkly jumpsuits.
Avatar 10:06pm coelacanth∅:

my mom and i bonded over Neil Diamond. i liked cracklin' rosie & sweet caroline. i still like cracklin' rosie once in a while; but solitary man and red red wine get stuck in my head sometimes...and holly holy - though i don't know about the lyrics to that one...
- and i thought Gram wore the sparkly overalls...
Avatar 10:09pm Franco Twinkie:

But Neil Diamond wrote Four Dead In Ohio, right?
Avatar 10:12pm coelacanth∅:

i think that was Clara Young. Neil Diamond wrote "several dead in illinois" but it didn't chart.
Avatar 10:14pm Franco Twinkie:

I'm totally mixed up now. Maybe I should go back to bed.
Avatar 10:15pm TDK60:

I've seen sparkles sprinkled across many musical genres and their stage costumes... hippy country rock, Neil D., Glam/Bowie, Sun Ra, etc.
Avatar 10:15pm coelacanth∅:

i'm still mixed up when i go to bed. it doesn't help.
Avatar 10:16pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, good point. I'll stay up then.

Stay up Franco. // Good drivin' rock now DJ MMC..

Avatar 10:35pm coelacanth∅:

...but have you seen the female Neil's pole dance while balancing a brightly colored dancing bear balanced on another pole balanced on his/her nose?
Avatar 10:37pm Franco Twinkie:

I...Can't...What!?! Did you make that up?
Avatar 10:38pm TDK60:

I dunno, that Neil costume is very futuristic..

Everyone I know has worn sparkly attire on occasion in some form or another
Avatar 10:43pm TDK60:

Avatar 10:44pm coelacanth∅:

Neil Diamond related. True story.

Back when he came out w Coming to America I turned on him. Sorry. The wrong people got crazy over that song.

When I watched The Last Waltz w the Band I’d always fast forward through his bits.

In the summer of ‘86 he invited me to the deck of his place in Malibu for a drink and a chat. I was working there. He was being genuinely polite.

And he was. Very nice. Charming. Friendly. BUT. I was a kid. Didn’t know what to say. Had the perfect opener too. Both of us from Brooklyn. How can you go wrong.

But. So nervous. Played it cool. Conversation with him and his buddy or bodyguard stilted. Petered out.

I left. Never had the chance again. Regret a little.

Later on became aware of one lady. Called herself Nellie Diamond. Delivered papers to the property. Was advised that if I let her in to see him my job was toast.

World class stalker. Changed her legal name ffs. Nice enough in person though.

Just. Totally obsessed w him.

Legend had it he took her on a rollercoaster ride as part of a radio promotion when she was a kid.

She got hooked.

Fast forward. Xmas ‘85. She drops a real nice sized package w me to give to Neil Diamond. Ok. Bye!

Swing shift. Overnight guy comes in. Old timer Bill. Odd duck. “Oh no!” He says as he starts tearing it open and we find....

Lots of stuff. Tchotchkes. About a dozen items. Some nice some cheese. All I remember now is the gold Parker pen & pencil set that I still use to this day.

True story.

Glad you played Neil. Good song. As they say a “perfect segué” in FMU parlance.

Caught my attention. Annoyed the bride asking if she liked it too — that she took as changing the subject and then leaving the room.

Double score. Rest of the show perfect as always. Grazie.

i've worn some crazy shit too...for halloween but also not necessarily.
- Franco, someone gave me a deer skin once (with the fur) and i wore it for halloween once, caveman style. not sparkly at all.
  10:53pm chresti:

I wore a metal, chain-like jumpsuit on my 21st Birthday, otherwise, maybe glitter on a headress or something like that.
Avatar 10:54pm TDK60:

you were Lo-Fi coel.

Thanks, chresti. I notice now that more of the 43 pictures show him and the suit.

Okay Fleep. That's a theoretical physics construct. I went into the bathroom to look in the mirror and I saw a chaotic storm of molecules rearranging themselves. Should I be concerned?

Problem with molecules is they're always dunking on quarks. Like, your ancestors were quarks, dude.
