Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm fred:

@RevRab: Nice to see you again! Can I take that as sign that your work/financial situation improved?
Avatar 3:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sorry, bad/sad Irish joke..
Avatar 3:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  3:35pm Morphe:

"There was a day
not so long in the past
when it was easier to get a gun on a Sunday
Than drink in Belfast.."

A true Belfast song by
  3:40pm Morphe:

Ira is a profoundly, lovely, significant name.
In all caps .. IRA .. is where Americans lose their
savings or Irish folks their blood..

I promise I'll lighten up

Thanks Ira!!!!!!!

off to see the 2nd 1/2 of Madrid vs Liverpool..
)0 - 0 now - a bit of a laugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm DonJuanTijuana:

Ira, extremely COOL to acknowledge Michael Chandler!!! He was ACES!!!
Avatar 3:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I think Syd was more about his Echoplex w/ a Zippo for a slide!...
  3:49pm Morphe:

Off... Thanks Ira.. a tremendous mix.... will it be archived????
so I can catch the rest???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm fred:

Morphe brought up IRA, and there's a thing called Roth IRA, so that reminded me I never read anything by Philip Roth, who died recently. I browsed a couple of books but put them back. Should I give his writing a try?
Avatar 3:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  3:57pm Robbie White:

enjoying your show from Silver Spring, MD
  3:58pm Lazarus Johnzon:

Avatar 4:09pm Cheri Pi:

Sounding great Ira!
  4:09pm Dennis Diken:

Avatar 4:10pm geezerette:

Fred, Plillip Roth was a wonderful writer. I hope you'll give him a try and hope you'll want to read everything. He was so sharp, funny and unsparing.
Avatar 4:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...is this Dennis playing on DaveDavies' Polish tour ??
Avatar 4:14pm geezerette:

What Cheri said!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm fred:

@geezerette: Thanks! Any recommendation for where I should start?
Avatar 4:15pm Hoboken Jack:

Hey everybody! Thanks so much for filling in, Ira. I sent my fill-in listener home this afternoon.
  4:16pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

Hi there Hoboken Jack!
Avatar 4:17pm geezerette:

Maybe "Goodbye Columbus" or "Portnoy's Complaint". He was fierce and fearless. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm rbx:

as of this song I now believe in magic.
Avatar 4:23pm geezerette:

Fred, for you,www.newyorker.com... A little context.
Avatar 4:24pm geezerette:

Ira, it's been beachy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm fred:

Thanks geezerette! I have a pile to read through before going back to my favorite bookshop, but I'll keep that in mind. And for context's sake, this is what my fave bookshop looks like: www.google.com...
Avatar 4:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Beautiful fred.
Avatar 4:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the literary equivalent of FMU's sonic spread...
Avatar 4:30pm geezerette:

Oh, Fred, I envy you for that! Is there a cat there too?
Avatar 4:31pm geezerette:

Howdy RevRab!
Avatar 4:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hey geez!
Avatar 4:34pm geezerette:

Good to see you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm fred:

@geezerette: I don't think so (hard to say for sure, the basement is even more crowded). But there's coffee, tea, and maple syrup to be found hidden between the piles (it's a Canadian bookshop)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm DonJuanTijuana:

Charlie Pickett is a lawyer in Florida and still gigging on occasion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Nardo:

Charlie and the Eggs rule!
Avatar 4:37pm Fredericks:

Thanks for the Charlie, Ira!
Avatar 4:37pm geezerette:

I love Paris. :) So beautiful and the people are wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm fred:

@geezerette: That's so puzzling to me: it's so boringly gray to me. And the people are so casually hostile. Then again, I was born there, but never could afford to live there. We should meet next time you go there, maybe meet at that bookshop
Avatar 4:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Has been observed that every Major City has an attitude - Paris juast happens to be Frances'...
'Satisfaction' by the Stones usually held up as a Fuzz breakthru...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Your Ace From Exchange Place:

Love this Clean song!
Avatar 4:50pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 4:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's ClickyStars all the way down...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Yvang:

Hi Ira! I wonder what was the title of the Chris Knox song you played last week in Paris?
Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Ira:

@Yvang: Coloured
Avatar 4:53pm Fredericks:

Now, Sun Ra! Loving it, Mr. K.
Avatar 4:55pm david_:

Le Son'y Ra worked with such an interesting range of vocalists...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Yvang:

@Ira: thank you!
Avatar 4:59pm geezerette:

Never heard of Electric Express but love this!
Avatar 5:00pm Reeshard:

The processed sax on "It's The Real Thing" reminds me of Chris Wood's playing on Wynder K. Frog's lp.
  5:00pm Mike Sin:

Ira, You’re reaching the beaches — great show today!
Avatar 5:01pm Reeshard:

To echo Mr. Sin's thought, both this and last night's show were/are terrific. Thank you, Ira! I know you've got a band and a life and everything, but that doesn't stop me from wishing you were part of the weekly 'FMU line-up.
Avatar 5:06pm Marc Francis:

This is absolutely perfect, Ira.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Summer and Michael:

Great show, Ira! Longtime fans of your group, loving this fill-in. Thank you!
  5:09pm flashbazbo:

One of my fave LPs of all time was Fakenews. It was so unlikely, unexpected, yet somehow necessary. I just had to go with it.
Avatar 5:17pm Reeshard:

Speaking as a Detroit native, allowing that the MC5's original was given execrably bad production by Jon Landau, this cover does not best it...not by a long shot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm fred:

@Reeshard: is there a MC5 cover that you would recommend? I like covers, so I'd probably enjoy it
  5:23pm Greg From Brooklyn:

Excellent show Ira... hope to have you back soon on Saturday afternoon!!!
Avatar 5:23pm Reeshard:

@ fred: You are addressing the liturgical music of my native land. No substitutions allowed.
  5:35pm Katie:

Hi Ira. It’s katie. Rob’s board up can’t get in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm fred:

@Reeshard: Even if the Dirtbombs do it?
  5:40pm georgia:

Just saw Darren's e-mail he is downstairs trying to get buzzed in.. just in case he's still stuck down there.
Great show!
Avatar 5:43pm Sean B.:

Superb show. I don't know why but everytime I hear Johnathan Richman I can't help but think of the Neighborhoods. I have always felt that Prettiest Girl is one of the unsung greatest Boston, MA pop/rock singles to ever be. Huh?.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm fred:

Soon after I started my current job, a coworker told me in a challenging way that all alt/punks were actually art school students acting out. I submitted The Ramones as a counter-example, and got fleeting respect
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm DonJuanTijuana:

Ira, Thank you for another AMAZING show!!! I always look forward to when you're behind the turntables..Cheers!!!
  5:50pm Steiner in Whately:

Ok this is great
Avatar 5:53pm geezerette:

Thanks for summer sounds,Ira!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Dave in Vermont:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm fred:

Thanks Ira, I enjoyed the show a lot (proof is I'm still listening when I should be getting some sleep instead)
  5:56pm Gary:

Thanks so much Ira. That was awesome!
  6:43pm Ira:

Thanks for listening and thanks for the comments!
