Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Krys O.:

Lovely opening track!
  12:04pm tfunk:

Sup daddy Duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm JtotheK:

cool, looking forward to synth tunes! hi duane, hi everyone.
Avatar 12:05pm northguineahills:

Synth on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm melinda:

I'm looking forward to the synth too
Avatar 12:05pm B/wad:

All aboard, Captain!
Avatar 12:07pm Jshatan:

Happy synth day, all!
Avatar 12:09pm northguineahills:

Must have synth on my mind, mislabeled a botanical species in a report for work, 'synth'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm BronwynB:

killer segue, but its duane so of course it was :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm BronwynB:

wow i love this!!
Avatar 12:16pm ben abs:

Hey Duane & everybody. Ready for a killer set to get me through the last stretch of the day!
Avatar 12:20pm northguineahills:

*Furiously looks up Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai OST*
Avatar 12:21pm PKNY:

Good call on the Moog Machine, luckily they went with a live drummer on that one. Lots of funky covers, and fairly easy to find out in the field.
Avatar 12:23pm northguineahills:

I actually have Switched-On Rock on LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm LAZCAD:

Avatar 12:26pm Jshatan:

Did Hugo get any help from Tonto's Exploding Head Band on this track?
Avatar 12:28pm Mr. Lowry:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Rich in Washington:

bits of the Wrecking Crew played on some of those Montenegro pop records, but I wonder who his Moog knob twiddler was?
Avatar 12:36pm Jshatan:

Expanding, yes! Exactly, Rich - will investigate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Rich in Washington:

Who were the hot young Moog playing session people c. 1968 or so?
I know Mort Garson played under a few aliases.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Rich in Washington:

The Duane Train is running down the track on fire today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Passaic River Blues:

This whole show feels like a gift.
Avatar 12:43pm Jshatan:

According to Discogs, the synth players on the Montenegro album were Programmed By [Arp Synthesizers] – John Montenegro (tracks: A2-A5, B2-B5), Programmed By [Moog Synthesizer] – Dick Hamilton (tracks: A1, B1) and Soloist [Featured] – Larry Muhoberac. I'm assuming John is Hugo's son, but I can't be sure.
Avatar 12:45pm Jshatan:

I know The Monkees had one of the first Moogs - you can hear it on their track Star Collector, which came out in 67. I may be wrong, but I believe the Beatles may have borrowed a Moog from the Monkees for Abbey Road, where they used three instruments if I recall correctly. George Harrison was apparently the most skilled with the device, having used it for Wonderwall Music.
Avatar 12:48pm Jshatan:

Sunshine Baby always kills me - what an unbelievable track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Asheville Jon:

i should go downton and go to the MOOG building and wish them a happy synthesizer day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Asheville Jon:

and a happy birthday to Bob. rip
Avatar 1:00pm northguineahills:

moar Patrick Cowley, plox!
Avatar 1:02pm northguineahills:

Patrick Cowley was almost as eclectic as Arthur Russell (kindred souls IMHO).
  1:04pm ali lacroix:

It’s Moog like Vogue with an M
Avatar 1:04pm oshiwoshi:

Terry Manning - also worked at Stax with Staples - then Studio manager at Compass Point
Avatar 1:05pm northguineahills:

what ali lacroix said...
  1:06pm analager:

yup - moog is pronounced like "rogue". great show btw!
  1:07pm carrots:

what is this?!
  1:07pm analager:

my OCD was kicking in :)
Avatar 1:08pm alanr:

You made me sad, Duane. I miss my Korg Polysix, that I bought in the early '80s. It may be circulating somewhere, still making sounds. I hope. But great sound and the best DIALS. (pre-midi, too)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm rbx:

this is like prince doing vocals for throbbing gristle
Avatar 1:08pm northguineahills:

I was going to say, I haven't heard this Prince yet, not even from Kurt!
Avatar 1:09pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

That was my favourite Prince thing ever, no question.
Avatar 1:09pm northguineahills:

good analogy, rbx~
Avatar 1:11pm northguineahills:

(kurt gottschalk is an acolyte of the great purple funkness).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm JFR:

I miss my PolySix too. Best damn synth on the lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Rich in Washington:

I had a Moog Liberation, one of those silly keytar type synths. It was really limited and was monophonic, with one kind of ugly sounding polyphonic voice. It was fun to make weird little burbly sounds with, though.
Avatar 1:27pm northguineahills:

Yellow Power, not to be confused w/ Yello, Yellowman, or the NYC d&b dj/producer, Yellow.
Avatar 1:27pm Duane:

Thx for listening everybody! Hope you're diggin it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Rich in Washington:

Totally digging it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Michael 98145:

as always
  1:31pm b wad:

Totally diggin the synths vibes ! יאללה דוואין

Duane, that Jan Hammer track is a banger. Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Scott Williams taking over?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Passaic River Blues:

Avatar 2:26pm Duane:

HA! By special request, Ken! TImaandVic: Thanks
Avatar 2:26pm northguineahills:

Hello Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm BronwynB:

yeah its funny because the bed music is always so closely aligned with the DJ in my mind that it becomes their theme song that follows them around. so i literally was like "oh scott is here"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Asheville Jon:

Duane, will you be playing any Giorgio Moroder today?
Avatar 2:27pm northguineahills:

Shakes fist at Ken!
  2:28pm TIMandVIC:

So was that Terry Manning track. The combo blew my mind. Back to back mind bogglers!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm BronwynB:

when i was watching the people vs oj series, they used "black superman" at a point when the courtroom door opened and someone was coming in and i was like Marty McSorley is here! I didn't know he was OJ's lawyer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Scott Williams:

Weird, I do feel a compulsion to speak
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Michael 98145:

a summoning !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm JtotheK:

midnight, midnight ... (enjoying pekka pohjola!)
  2:31pm kbo:

Almost thought you were gonna spin some DJ Shadow, ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Passaic River Blues:
