I remember someone in the 1990s—or early 200s?—on WFMU who would record audio of walking through Coney Island on a crowded summer day. Now THAT is a memory.

Mark G:

You should have been at the "Peter Stampfel and Friends" gig yesterday afternoon at the Sidewalk. Not only is Stampfel and an incredibly loopy and creative vocalist in his own right, but yesterday he did a set (a first for them both) with Shelly Hirsch. The way they played off of each other vocally was like the wackiest classic 1940's cartoon music/soundtrack ever! -Simply astounding
Avatar 7:34pm
Linda Lee:

Thanks for the link Dan! that one looks juicy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Webhamster Henry:

Yep, Peter Stampfel and Shelley Hirsch and others have a new record coming out soon. Tracks from their previous one has been played on this very show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Dan Bodah:

@JakeGould, not sure who that was but it could have been Monica Lynch? She has used a lot of great recordings of the city on her shows over the years. Also if people are interested in that kind of thing, I used to air recordings I made of subway musicians on my old show Airborne Event back in the early 2000s.
Avatar 7:35pm
northguineahills:

@Jake: Then there is Meghan's Underwater Theme Park on GTDS stream that uses Coney Island recordings as her bed music.
  7:36pm
JakeGould:

@NGH and @Dan I am thinking it’s more of a Meghan thing. But like I said, this was years ago. Possibly like 1993 or 1994?
