I was on tour the last two weeks, so I had to rely on the archives to hear the shows. Thankfully the app allows for downloads as wifi access was intermittent at best in Europe.

Smart phones definitely to blame for bad concert behaviour but something else, almost indefinable, has occurred over the past decade or so.

  11:49am clarke:

i had the same cough last year - took a while to go away, but it kinda did eventually.
  11:49am Rick A.:

I think cellphones are largely to blame for the bad behavior. I am reluctant to see a film in a big multiplex nowadays because of people on their phones. Also, people talk on the phone in libraries now too which should be sanctuaries of silence.

I think the bad behavior at concerts might also be due to people seeing bands because it's a "cool scene" to be seen in as opposed to going to see the music. We saw Sharon Van Etten at the Bowery Ballroom a few years back and the people in the balcony were terrible and they supposedly know her!
  11:49am Eddy in Australia:

Clarke: Okay, you've convinced me, I'll watch it again. We've had a rash of horrible pop culture two-parters of late so maybe I didn't give it a fair go.
  11:51am clarke:

Eddy - check it out, again! let me know (of course, i will not be around much this summer)

of course, it will be winter for you...
