roger that!
Avatar 9:01am duke:

Hello D:O
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am doctorjazz:

On the stream, I assume...
Hi Jeff and listeners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Jeff Golick:

Hey and hello, @listener james, @duke, @doctorjazz! Be there in a min.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am listener james from westwood:

Millie Jackson here with a very real-estate-oriented heartbreak song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am Jeff Golick:

I can relate. Real estate has been giving me heartburn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am Jeff Golick:

We are rolling. (I hope.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am Andrew Waterloo:

good morning
  9:33am Uncle Michael:

I'm in the yard. I'm listening. I'm waiting for their to be enough wind to light the brush pile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am Jeff Golick:

Good to see you, @Andrew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Jeff Golick:

Will see if we can kick up a breeze, @UM. Hello.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am Uncle Michael:

No word to dispatch from the chief about burning this morning, yet. I'm all dressed up with no place to go.
Avatar 10:15am TDK60:

Hello Jeff and outniks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Jeff Golick:

Greetings, @TDK60!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am doctorjazz:

Been in and out (computer problems).
this is pretty, nice Bone tone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am doctorjazz:

The Home Page FMU has that nice new App on it, I like using it, but I think it tipped off my office that I was connecting to a site that "should" be blocked, and the firewall stopped letting me listen to FMU at the office. Have to figure out something else for tomorrow (phone connection, or some other alternative). Happened Friday, was very bummed!
Avatar 10:39am TDK60:

Hmmm sorry to hear doc; where is this new app on the main page?
  10:39am Doug Schulkind:

Greetings from Triscuitville, Jeff. Happy Mother’s Day, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Jeff Golick:

Welcome back, @Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am doctorjazz:

It's not really new, the "listen now" arrow on the left of the page connects to the main station or the streams. It was recently updated, and I think using it tipped off the firewall at the office (can't prove this, of course, but that's when I got blocked, after years of using the "pop-up" without a problem).
Avatar 10:47am TDK60:

Oh, you mean the Popup thing.
  10:48am Dean:

@doctorjazz: Have you tried the old pop-up directly from the playlist? I see that it is hosted at wfmu.org, while the new app is hosted at radiorethink.com. Maybe the firewall prohibits the latter, but not the former.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am doctorjazz:

They seem to be different pop-ups, the one on the Home page, and the one that's on the page of the show you are listening to.
  10:49am Dean:

Yes. If you can view the wfmu site, you should be able to operate the old pop-up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am doctorjazz:

@Dean-I did, it seems once the Firewall figured out WFMU was ferboddin, it recognized the old all the pop ups, won't even allow the web site to come up.
I'll try tomorrow with an iPad-oddly, my office has wifi that anyone can use. The "connected" internet is heavily blocked, but the wifi is OK (has the net result of having staff spend time checking their Facebook pages on their phones instead of the PC's, a questionable improvement...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am doctorjazz:

Great old album, The Clarinet Family!
Have to look or that Naomi Moon Siegel album...
Avatar 10:57am TDK60:

So, use the popup on the show page not the main page. I'm human, I can change.
  11:00am Dean:

That's the problem: the entire wfmu site has been blacklisted, in addition to the slick new player. Weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Jeff Golick:

@doc: naomimoonsiegel.bandcamp.com...
Avatar 11:01am TDK60:

Have you now or ever been a Woofmoo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am doctorjazz:

Thanks, Jeff. Out in a bit with Mother in law (101 and a half years old, bless her), Lox, Stock and Deli, then a visit to her 98 year old baby sister
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Jeff Golick:

God bless 'em, @doctorjazz.
  11:06am Dean:

I wonder what would happen, firewall-wise, if you tried to listen to the station via archive.org's Wayback Machine...
  11:08am rw:

Avatar 11:09am northguineahills:

Actually made it on time, Momma Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Jeff Golick:

Hey there, @rw and @northguineahills!
  11:12am rw:

101.5?! Wow. drjazz, tell her Happy Mother's Day from all of us too! Firewall issue sounds annoying. There must be a workaround. Can you talk to the techs about it? Maybe they can unblock in exchange for a box of doughnuts and a 12 pack of nice beer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am doctorjazz:

That I haven't tried, Dean, worth a try. I'm sure I will be able to listen with some gadget or other, but posting on the pages will be limited. Not a tragedy ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am doctorjazz:

My Mother in Law isn't doing great, mind you, Docs thought she'd be gone quite a while ago, but she's a tough, stubborn lady, doesn't like to be told what to do.
Avatar 11:20am northguineahills:

I'm so happy I control the firewall at my office (I allow everything, makes things easier, then again, I assume my coworkers aren't idiots).

Hope your mother-in-law recovers, buena suerte, and have a fun day!
Avatar 11:20am northguineahills:

Love this Witch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Uncle Michael:

Never heard the Move cover of Hey Grandma before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Jeff Golick:

Your Move moved me, @UM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Uncle Michael:

good for me!
  11:30am rw:

Mama, mama, mama, mama.
  11:35am Dean:

This Funkadelic record appears in OED as the earliest illustration of the second entry for the suffix -adelic:

Forming adjectives designating or relating to a style of music which combines psychedelic characteristics with the style or genre indicated by the first element.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Jeff Golick:

  11:37am Dean:

Later illustrations include Tex-adelic, grunge-edelic, punkadelic, and swingadelic.
  11:42am rw:

What's the first entry? Psychedelic? And you have a copy of the OED? grunge-edelic sounds terrible. I don't even want to know.
  11:43am Dean:

First entry:

Forming adjectives designating something which embodies in a psychedelic way that which is denoted or implied by the first element.

Earliest illustration from NYT, Feb. 16, 1967:

Any swingers who have yet to shop in an ‘electrodelic environment’ should race right over to Best's Fifth Avenue while the fuses hold out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am doctorjazz:

Took me a inute to recognize this version of Abdullah Ibrahim's thie, Love IT!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am doctorjazz:

minute, that is...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am doctorjazz:

and tune (and I"m not even using my phone)
  11:45am Dean:

Google's ngram viewer shows occurrences of Funkadelic pre-'70, reviews of shows, I'm guessing.
  11:45am Listener Gregory:

Far too late suggestion: Mama Rose by Archie Shepp.
Hold till next year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Jeff Golick:

@doc: Great ears! I don't think I know the Dollar Brand orig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @Listener Gregory! And hi there!
  11:50am Dean:

Stevie Wonder, in an interview in Melody Maker, March 15, 1969, refers to "funkedelic" music.
Avatar 11:53am northguineahills:

If I don't get back, thanks Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am doctorjazz:

Mamma I first heard on this album, which was one of the first I heard, and still one of my favorite albums of his.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @ngh!
  11:55am rw:

Me too. Thanks Jeff for the Mother-delic Motherlode of Mama-tunes. Later everyone!
  11:56am Dean:

Heh, short-lived rock band Widowmaker has a tune, "Pin a Rose on Me," that includes the line, "Hey, mama, pin a" etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @doc; don't know that one. Will have to look for it...

@rw: My pleasure, and thanks for being here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am doctorjazz:

Thanks Jeff! Happy Mothers Day and a good week to all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @doc, same to you and happy loxing.
