Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Excited for some EUROVISION!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Uncle Michael:

Oh, no...no Eurovision on the show. I've vowed to only use my power for good. If it consoles you, you may have this, which I made six ears ago...before I came to the light.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am 23 Wolves:

Aww dang, I am firmly allied to the forces of evil...thanks for the consolation though! I guess I'll listen regardless.

Hi all... Bummed, after years of listening to FMU through my office PC, the firewall has found me out and blocked me. Still able to connect with my phone, but hard to post (and be without my phone). I'll figure something out, but stinks!
  12:23pm Dean:

When the Prince tune started, I thought it was gonna be Paul Nicholas' "Heaven on the Seventh Floor," only because yesterday I saw the Nicholas album for two bucks and almost bought it.
Avatar 12:24pm βrian:

@ Doctorjazz: Why would they do that? What's the point?
  12:24pm dan:

You should have bought the record. A $2 Paul Nicholas record doesn't come around every day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Jeff Golick:

Or maybe not as unlikely as I thought....www.whosampled.com...
Avatar 12:25pm βrian:

And it's only one "wafer-thn" record, after all.
  12:28pm Dean:

@dan: 63 copies of the LP at discogs from $2.00.

@βrian: The "wafer-thin" rationale crosses my mind most times I add stacks to the collection.

@UM: Same here. Mozart. Such a prick.
  12:32pm dan:

Where did you dig this cover of Respect from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm annie:

i have to give a great promo for Tunein, the free-listening server i use for radio. when i first started using it, i just had a collection of stations available and i'm noticing now that are TONS of archived shows for the stations i listen to. the latest joy is finding hinky-dink in archive. i'd love to see WWOZ jump on that banwagon, but they only hold shows are two weeks; by that time i've forgotten the one i wanted to re-hear. Tunein is becoming a valuable resource for me and i'm sure for many others. they can keep the sports and news, i want the music..and it's free
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Uncle Michael:

Artie, it may be some new hardware at my end.
  12:41pm dan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm annie:

i just l-ed ol at your comment dan
  12:46pm Doctorjazz:

@Brian...I don't really think it makes sense, though they would say it saves bandwidth. I think it's for the same reason they have blocked Facebook and similar sites, to keep staff from "goofing off" at work. But, they have wifi, so the staff just uses that to goof off anyway (and probably slower that way). Ultimately, I just think administrators here are evil...

  12:51pm dan:

@ Jeff Supertramp can kick REO Speedwagon's wimpy ass any day.
  12:52pm Dean:

I have this album, "Crime...," in a Mobile Fidelity remastered version in a big box, not even wafer-thin. Only 'tramp album I kept.
  12:52pm dan:

Here's a question to the group. Who do you like better, Supertramp or Rush?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm melinda:

hi all. I feel like it means something that I tuned in right in time for Supertramp's Dreamer, but I'm not sure what.
  12:53pm Dean:

Only Rush I can stomach is that awesome DJ Cummerbund remix from a year or two ago, YY Milk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Jeff Golick:

Agreed. It's not often I reveal my ignorance so blatantly. (Usually I do it more surreptitiously.)
Avatar 12:53pm northguineahills:

@annie: I planted in mid-Feb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Uncle Michael:

I prefer Supertramp to canned mushroom soup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm melinda:

I don't have strong feelings about either Rush or Supertramp. REO Speedwagon gives me the willies.
  12:58pm mauri:

I was wondering when its time for ABBA
  12:59pm dan:

@ UM. That makes a good dinner/music combination. Like wine with jazz music

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Uncle Michael:

me too Spaniel...I hope it doesn't suck!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm 23 Wolves:

This is close enough to Eurovision for me! Enjoying immensely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Uncle Michael:

dan, they're doing a hologram tour
  1:03pm Stevel:

UM: Did you favor ABBA back in HS days? You couldn't miss hearing them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Uncle Michael:

Not a fan in HS. I got on board in the early '80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Jeff Golick:

Impossible not to sing along.
  1:06pm dan:

Back when instrumentals actually made the Top 10 on the charts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Uncle Michael:

which set of words? There is more than one.
Avatar 1:07pm Spaniel:

ha, yeah, I doubt I could make a show but maybe if I get my hologram projector working they can come to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Jeff Golick:

Uh...words? Maybe "sing" isn't exactly the right word, then. Vocalize along?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm annie:

i was already way over twenty when abba came along... i loved 'em
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Jeff Golick:

"Duh duh duh duh, DUH DUH."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm The Oscar:

I remember hearing a comedy skit many moons ago about The Theme from Hawaii Five-O Cereal-- "All the excitement of the theme from Hawaii Five-O in every bite!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Jeff Golick:

"Move" by The Move from Move
  1:13pm dan:

@ Jeff The chorus is literally, band, song, album
  1:17pm Dean:

You say you were gonna play some Triumvirat?
  1:19pm dan:

The album was Crime of the Century
  1:19pm Stevel:

Triumvirate? [ears perking]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Uncle Michael:

Not today! No Gentle Giant either.
  1:22pm Stevel:

The mouse in the lightbulb is frowning.
  1:22pm dan:

Who gave this woman singing and songwriting lessons? She's terrible at both.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Uncle Michael:

Well, I did ask.
  1:27pm Dean:

No Triumvirat, no Gentle Giant. I guess that means no Supersister, either? Seems right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm melinda:

I liked the Haley henderyickkxkx
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm The Oscar:

I dug it too-- I liked how unhinged it got toward the end.

If there's one thing better than library music, it's *spooky* library music!
  1:46pm Mark R.:

Dude, this "Terrestrial Journey" track is groovy, man.
  1:46pm Stevel:

If I were assembling my Tommy James doc. , I'd use that version of Hanky Panky for one of the more speed-addled scenes.
  1:46pm Dean:

Steven Wright's joke about naming his dog Stay tickles my kids. "Come here, Stay!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm david w:

I learned Hanky Panky off the sheet music when I was 12. How dumb is that?

@UM The song is from 1968 not 66.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Uncle Michael:
