the reason given for someone getting fired (etc) is rarely the REAL issue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Bill in W.O.:

Yeah, word on the street was Del didn't care for Steve Earle's profanity. I saw that tour too, they did the bluegrass single/central mike thing, show was great, and Iris Dement showed up to duet on the tune from The Mountain where she guested. Del and the band were riveted to Iris. Steve Earle was still being randomly obnoxious to audience members, as was his thing in those days, but a great show.
  12:07pm clarke:

ok, gang, gotta put on the rainsuit and get some work done... adieu...

The truckers were speeding. Rocking chair being the area between the rear and foremost truck in the caravan

Am reminded of Pajama Slave Dancers' 1988 offering "Homo Truck Driving Man."
  12:21pm ?:

It might not have been the artists point, but it seems me that the truckers were so wrapped up with their own homophobia that they neglected to keep an eye out for "smokey" and ended up getting caught for speeding. Homophobes, look out...

"White Night" by Cletus Maggard
  12:25pm Listener Robert:

I think the idea is that, speed limits being hat they are, if you're distracted while driving you'll end up breaking them. This is indeed how this whole philosophy of local revenue works: that mere prudent driving is not enough because limits are set unrealistically low and change suddenly just to generate tickets.
  12:25pm GW:

Love Scatter Me . A great way to look at the inevitable.

Another CB classic: The Bull and The Beaver by Merle Haggard and a female country singer.
  12:28pm Listener Robert:

I wonder how that philosophy of road enforcement looks to people reading this thread in other counties, where the orientation might be around, you know, actual safety. And that goes for a lot more than road enforcement in the USA.
  12:28pm paul:

Leona Williams as "The Beaver"
  12:29pm prudy:

so true listener Robert

Meanwhile, Mr. Shelley, there's hope for tinnitus. Talk m.c. Ian Punnett had to give up that career because of tinnitus while wearing cans, but recently he announced his comeback. Apparently he got better.

Listening from Carrollton, Ohio, about 30 minutes from Wintersville. Lots of foxes here too.
  12:35pm Listener Robert:

The paradox is that in many ways Americans have greater freedoms than people in many other countries. However, the way that comes out is in the lengthening of the leash, and frequently leads to very idiosyncratic "gotchas" in the middle of an overall appearance of tolerance.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Listener Baby:

A fox used come to our house and call out to us for as long as it took for my dog to come out and play. It did not matter to the fox what hour of the day it was. My dog was the same color as the fox.

there's the kicker.

English rockers and country gals. Nice.
  12:46pm paul:

Next up: The Stones and Taylor Swift sing As Tears Go By (please don't, but it did happen)
  12:47pm prudy:

hard for me to compare Taylor Swift to Lucinda Williams. Williams is the real deal.
