Hello, @fred, thanks for checking in. Hope your Sunday goes well.

Greetings, too, to @tom from Glasgow!

Morning, might be my first time here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Jeff Golick:

Hey, there, @TDK60! Thanks for stopping by!
Avatar 9:13am TDK60:

Funny little story: '06-'09 was DJ on small internet radio station. Played a sidelong Cherry cut {forget name now} on wrong speed at 45 rpm, didn't realize til after but it still sounded great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am tom from Glasgow:

gotta love some Don on a Sunday afternoon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Jeff Golick:

@TDK60: ha! Maybe one of those Cherry Blue Notes...

@tom: Cherry + Charlie Haden = *chef's kiss*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Jeff Golick:

(...not to mention Billy Higgins!)
Avatar 9:28am TDK60:

It might have been a side of this Brown Rice LP!.. the sounds were around that era.
  9:32am Doctorjazz:

Morning Jeff and DO'ers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Jeff Golick:

Good morn, @Doctorjazz!

Hello, Jeff, Destination folk, rogue tubers in the Stream, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am doctorjazz:

Missing this year's Record Fair due to family stuff, sad (but my bank account is cheering).
Swag For Life Member 9:48am Mikey_B:

I never realized how perfectly Elizabeth Fraser's voice matches with a Sunday morning (or any time really)
Avatar 9:52am TDK60:

Yeah T.M.C. had interesting tastes for their covers then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Jeff Golick:

Hi there, @Sem! What is up, @Mikey_B! Welcome.
  9:57am Doug Schulkind:

Andrew Cyrille played live on my show. It was the day Dizzy Gillespie died. Good morning, maestro Jeff and Outbounders!
  9:58am Doug Schulkind:

My graduation is in about 5 hours!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am Jeff Golick:

Dr. Schulkind!
  10:00am Doug Schulkind:

It is you who is performing open-ear surgery, Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am Jeff Golick:

Have you customized your mortarboard, @Doug?
  10:02am Doug Schulkind:

Nawp. I’m not good with glue and glitter.
Avatar 10:02am northguineahills:

Actually made it today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Jeff Golick:

Yah, @northguineahills! How goes?
Avatar 10:05am northguineahills:

Have fun Doug!

All of my college graduations happened at 8 or 9am on Saturdays, so me and my friends were always hungover. (when you're in your 20s, that's allowed).
  10:07am Doug Schulkind:

Most of my classmates are in their 20s. So bright and committed and inspiring.
Avatar 10:08am northguineahills:

catching up on sleep. Have to wake up early tomorrow to continue moving my office. I'm going to be dead come Friday evening.

Chad Taylor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Jeff Golick:

@Doug: how did the young'uns approach you -- did you get on with them?
Avatar 10:11am northguineahills:

When I was in grad school, we had classmates from age 22-80. It was fun. I still keep in contact w/ most of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Jeff Golick:

@ngh: as someone who will be moving house in a matter of weeks...I am...not excited by your comments re moving.
Avatar 10:15am northguineahills:

Spent 8am-6pm on Friday. We have a lot of lab equipment and I'm the youngest of the four (although the others are more used to physical labor then I)(ever since my orthopedic dr told me to stop running and playing soccer).
Avatar 10:16am northguineahills:

Anteloper, new to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Jeff Golick:

Anteloper = Jaimie Branch, trumpet + Jason Nazary, drums.
  10:18am Listener Gregory:

This (Anteloper) is groovy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Jeff Golick:

Bienvenue, @Listener Gregory!
  10:21am Listener Gregory:

Bonjour, M. Jeff!
  10:33am Dean:

Big Jay McNeely turns 91 today, one day after my mother accomplished the same. Mom's not a honker and screamer, though.
Avatar 10:33am northguineahills:

I had to find my wife an apartment last fall. Since I took a job in FL and our rent went up to $2500/mo., I picked Crown Heights in the Hasidic portion, as I thought it would be safe for a woman. Rent is more reasonable, but the commute is longer (the L was shutting down anyways), and there is less venues nearby, but Prospect Park and the Brooklyn and Childrens Museum are nearby (as is my favorite Jamaican restaurant, Islands, and Tom's Diner.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am doctorjazz:

Lovely, the Duke/Trane track, the album was one of my earliest jazz obsessions. (WKCR plays Duke for 24 hours every year on his birthday, for anyone interested).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am Jeff Golick:

@Dean! Is she a bar-walker? Happy belated to your mom!
Avatar 10:35am northguineahills:

Oh, we got notice from our lawyer on Friday that my wife's fourth and last interview was approved. It only took 6 weeks instead of the usual 30 mins (thanks to the naranja shitgibbon). Unless things get worst, next year, we start the citizenship process,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Jeff Golick:

@ngh: big congrats on that, and hope it goes smoothly from here on.
  10:38am Dean:

My kids' preschool teacher was clearing out her parents' house following their passing. She had a stack of their records--Dinah Washington, Billie, Bessie Smith, Earl Hines, etc.--and asked me if I was interested. I snagged a box of them, including this Trane/Duke LP.
  10:39am Listener Gregory:

Hitting all the great Strayhorn songs on Ellington's birthday! Some day Johnny Hodges will get a birthday tribute too, when the world has come to its senses.
Avatar 10:41am TDK60:

Trane/Duke- <just to type that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Jeff Golick:

That sounds like a nice haul, @Dean. She knew you for a collector? You kid puts out feelers?
  10:43am Dean:

She knew. Doesn't hurt that my daughter endlessly reports that her dad likes "records, amplifiers, and beer."
  10:43am Doug Schulkind:

Some of the students didn’t know what to make of me, some weird old dude. But a few were quite adventurous and were friendly and not weirded out.
Avatar 10:44am Brian in UK:

Hello Jeff. Yes, the Coltrane/Ellington is a beaut.

Doug, congratulations, do you get letters after your name?
  10:44am Dean:

...not that she's stretching the truth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am doctorjazz:

I sometimes hear from folks trying to get rid of old LPs laying around somewhere, but it is usually not a haul like Dean got-usually very scratchy copies of Knock Three Times by Dawn and the like (sometimes a beaten copy of Kind Of Blue)
Avatar 10:45am Brian in UK:

@Dean in that order?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Jeff Golick:

Great to see you, @Brian in UK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am Jeff Golick:

@Doug: intergenerational communication really warms my heart.
Avatar 10:46am TDK60:

Trimmed down my LPs at a street fair once, a few folks berated me for getting rid of certain ones!
  10:46am Dean:

Any permutation works, @Brian in UK.
Avatar 10:46am Brian in UK:

Just moved so all sounds are enboxed. (is that correct)
Avatar 10:47am northguineahills:

Sweet, Dean!
Avatar 10:53am TDK60:

Just saw that the T. Barton/LeGuin music is about to be reissued by RVG Intl.

  10:56am Listener Gregory:

You can hear Jimmy Blanton underpinning this one. [Please don't tell me that it's actually Jimmy Woode or someone. Leave me my illusions.]
Avatar 10:56am northguineahills:

Here, I've made friends aged 25-70 at gallery openings and music soundings that I hang out w/ regularly...
Avatar 11:02am Sem:

Congrats, DS! I know you celebrate in moderation.

Thanks, Jeff, been a wondrous morning. See you and all next time in this quadrant, if that's the way it plays out.
  11:03am Dean:

Yes, congratulations, Doug! One set of d:O should be devoted to a loop of Pomp & Circumstance.
  11:04am Doug Schulkind:

...by Cecil Taylor
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Jeff Golick:

Thanks for being here, @Sem! Have a great rest of weekend.
  11:06am Dean:

Now that's free association:

Elgar? Cecil Taylor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am doctorjazz:

Going to go out with Ozzie in a bit-congrats again, Doug!
  11:14am Listener Gregory:

When I am king, Harry Carney's birthday will also be celebrated.
  11:16am Listener Gregory:

Also, and apologies for bringing it up here, today is National Pinhole Camera Day. I hope everyone celebrates it safely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Jeff Golick:

No apology necessary. I loved my pinhole camera experience in high school. Quaker Oats tube!
Avatar 11:27am Brian in UK:

My favourite 'camera' is the Camera Obscura.
Avatar 11:35am northguineahills:

My wife has been obsessed w/ her analogue fisheye camera (for over a decade).
  11:42am Listener Gregory:

Nice reaction, Jeff. If only they were Aztec Pinhole Camera, it would be perfect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Jeff Golick:

Thanks. @LG. My well isn't that deep.
  11:47am Doug Schulkind:

Thanks much, doctorjazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am doctorjazz:

Is this the original Walk On? Sounds different, but haven't heard it in a while...no back up singers. Like it!
Avatar 11:51am TDK60:

Those hairy Californians onstage again. Hee. Thanks for the show, gotta run!...
  11:52am Doug Schulkind:

My wife is kvelling over Neil. Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am doctorjazz:

That explains it, great show, Jeff, nice week all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Jeff Golick:

Bye, @TDK60! Thanks for hanging out!
  12:03pm rw:

Thanks Jeff!!
  12:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Sweet one, Jeff! So happy to be home and listening and not Triscuitizing.
  12:04pm Listener Gregory:

Very nice show, Jeff. Thanks.
  12:06pm Doug Schulkind:

I plan to be the world’s first antisocial worker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @Doug! Walk that walk!
Thanks, @Listener Gregory!
Thanks (and hello!), @rw!
Thanks, @doctorjazz!

Bye and thank you, one and all.
