Muffler shop SFX.

This must be the place. Hiya, Bill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Brian in UK:

What's up, Bill 'n Sem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Brian in UK:

I remember Wreckless Bill.
Avatar 12:03pm Andy in Berlin:

Anyone here know how to get to Main Street?
Avatar 12:04pm Sem:

Left off Main, Mr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Brian in UK:

Turn left at the lights, Andy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm fred:

Good afternoon Bill and all
Avatar 12:04pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Brian in UK:

Or as Lee Marvin said in Point Black. "Hang a left".
Avatar 12:07pm Bill Mac:

Wasn't it "Hang a louie?"
Avatar 12:07pm Andy in Berlin:

Left is Main Street. I'm looking for Main Street
Avatar 12:09pm Bill Mac:

Hang a left turn around take another left and head to Main St.... turn at Main Street and head toward Main Street
Avatar 12:12pm Sem:

...here in the country, you get directions like:" Go down here to where Doctor Jim's house burnt down, then go left until you see where that foreign guy got killed by a haybaler..."
Avatar 12:15pm Andy in Berlin:

No Bill. that's Main Street. I'm looking for Main Street.
Avatar 12:21pm Andy in Berlin:

Actually when I used to live in NY, a movie theater I used to go in the West Village moved to Watt Street. I had never been there so I asked a policeman if he could tell me where Watt Street was. Abbott and Costello ensued.
Avatar 12:26pm Bill Mac:

What Street?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm fred:

@Andy in Berlin: Nice one, and you didn't even end up getting arrested (or shot)
Avatar 12:27pm Sem:

Been waiting some time for new GBV, BIll?
Avatar 12:27pm Andy in Berlin:

@ Fred - Still here to tell the tale
Avatar 12:28pm Andy in Berlin:

@ Fred - actually strangling would have been the more appropriate response
Avatar 12:29pm Bill Mac:

@Sem Seems that many folks here at the station drool over this stuff, new release included.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Brian in UK:

Sem is that band named inspired by Jean d'Arc?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Mr.Bill & relative Zzzzzzzeroes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm northguineahills:

Well, I miss a lot of good stuff....
Avatar 12:31pm Bill Mac:

@NGH Plenty more ahead, hopefully
Avatar 12:31pm Sem:

heh @BiUK.

I thot maybe Son of Sam.
Avatar 12:31pm Bill Mac:

CC!! Hotcha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm fred:

Speaking of Zzzzzzeros, isn't that getting close to how much time Doug has left as a student?
Avatar 12:34pm Sem:

Graduates either today or tomorrow, fred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Brian in UK:

@fred two weeks maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Brian in UK:

I used to work in a cemetery, had to leave it was a dead end job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Brian in UK:

We were really short of workers. We were on a skeleton staff.
Avatar 12:44pm Bill Mac:

Bah-dup-PAH!!! Thanks Bri!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@BiUK - Sounds like you didn't get much of a chance to work your way down the ladder of success.
Avatar 12:51pm Sem:

A Mother's work is never done, always between a rock and a hard place.
Nice time travel tune.
Avatar 12:52pm Bill Mac:

Cut my teeth on Frank, didn't hear the 'good' stuff til much later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Brian in UK:

Seriously, it is a really skillful job digging a grave. especially a deep three/four person.

If she were my daughter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm coelacanth∅:

i know what i'd do...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm coelacanth∅:

i've dug many graves; some with hand shovels with one other person. sometimes it's weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm coelacanth∅:

-then you throw the body in and...

smother that girl in chocolate syrup, strap her on again...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm coelacanth∅:

well, Bill, Brian was supposed to pick that one up! and you know the mothers of invention lyric, no?
...i did work in a cemetery for a few years.
Avatar 1:07pm Bill Mac:

I missed it, I thought we were changing the topic to desserts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm coelacanth∅:

sounds good to me!
Avatar 1:09pm Sem:

I dug graves for a couple of years when I moved to a little village here. Maybe fifteen or twenty a year. Talk about an entree to village society! Everybody wanted to know the dirt: how many floral tributes, what kind of caskets (i.e. cheap or expensive), how many mourners, how many cars in the procession... got couple of good stories out of the experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Brian in UK:

@coel sorry for dropping the baton, had to feed the cats.

Go see Modu Moctar if you get the chance.

Driving the dumper truck was the best bit for me in the cemetery.
There is a lovely Ron Sexsmith song called 'Pretty Little Cemetery'.
Avatar 1:11pm Bill Mac:

Wow, and this has never come up with you guys before? I knew a janitor that also worked at a cemetery.
  1:11pm melinda:

Hi Bill and all
Avatar 1:12pm Bill Mac:

Seeing Modu Moctar next week. He's currently touring the states.
Avatar 1:13pm Bill Mac:

Hi Mel!!!
Avatar 1:13pm Sem:

Hello, melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm coelacanth∅:

yeh this is excellent

- hi melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Brian in UK:

Bill you will not regret it. Stanley and I saw him at Cafe Oto. The thing that impressed me most was that he never looked at his guitar or hardly ever. He just knew what he was doing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Brian in UK:

What ho, Melinda.
Avatar 1:16pm Bill Mac:

Going to see him play the Thomas Edison National Historical Park aka home where Thomas Edison did most of his inventing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm fred:

@Bill: Mdou Moctar is great live, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I hope he'll do some of his quieter stuff too, he's amazing with just his guitar and light percussion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm coelacanth∅:

i really enjoyed working at the cemetery usually. i learned groundskeeping, machine maintenance, how to drive a snow plough, tractor, & backhoe, and quite a bit about jewish culture.
- and learned to drive a stick on a truck, which is more robust so i never ruined a clutch. (& haven't to this day)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Brian in UK:

I know this sounds obvious but it is very peaceful place to work.
Avatar 1:19pm Bill Mac:

@Fred I'm looking forward to it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm fred:

I like this Cut Chemist track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm coelacanth∅:

heh,true! quite peaceful.
the place i worked at had amazing plum blossom and dogwood trees...and no headstones, just plaques at ground level; so looking across it it just looked like a beautiful park.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm coelacanth∅:

i dug that cut chemist too
Avatar 1:23pm Bill Mac:

I'm digging the set so far.
Avatar 1:25pm Sem:

haha, Bill.
Avatar 1:26pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm fred:

I hope I'll get to see Chocolat Billy again soon. So weird that I first heard about their new record on the station, a few weeks ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm coelacanth∅:

Bill, make sure you show your appreciation for the dj somehow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm coelacanth∅:

believe it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Brian in UK:

Sounds like a harmless story.
Avatar 1:32pm Sem:

Yep, had to shift people around in family plots, when the cemetery map wasn't especially well made. Happened often enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm coelacanth∅:

where i worked only less than 1/4 of burials involved vaults. i think it's reprehensible to use a vault.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Recent In Real Life episode where the team visited the Edison museum. www.wfmu.org... They even mentioned the old Edison's Attic program.
Avatar 1:37pm Sem:

Not hankerin' to pick up a long-handled spade, a clay pick nor a rock hammer, myself. Believe I'll sit here and listen to Bill play sets he likes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm coelacanth∅:

the weather jesters said it'd be overcast, cool and partly rainy today, so that was my mindset when i stayed up 'till 5am. but it's gorgeous out and i'm slowly getting ready to go out and absorb it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm fred:

Chocolat Billy is one of the many projects featuring Ian Saboya, who's also the driving force behind the Potagers Natures label based in Bordeaux
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm coelacanth∅:

a little "walk away renee" vibe here.
Avatar 1:41pm Bill Mac:

@Fred Looks like it's one of several labels associated with the release
Avatar 1:42pm Bill Mac:

@CC It does-good, it's happening to other folks too
Avatar 1:43pm Bill Mac:

@Ken Yeah Jerry is the curator over there - used to DJ EA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

oh Bill it always happens. it's like a disease.
this is like a combination of walk away renee and "she may call you up tonight" (also by left banke)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

(that was)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm coelacanth∅:

...and yet when "bittersweet symphony" came out i never once heard an obvious sample of a rolling stones song. even after i knew it was in there it wasn't obvious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Brian in UK:

Was it the Rollings Stones Orchestra with Loog Oldham? So no original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm fred:

The first time I saw Chocolat Billy (they opened for Deerhoof a dozen years ago) I bought their LP. I didn't have a working turntable at the time, but it was the kick in the ass I needed to fix that
Avatar 1:57pm Bill Mac:

Wow, they've been around the block a few times....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm coelacanth∅:

Brian yeah it wasn't even the 'stones version. shit head, overrated andrew loog oldham orchestra version of a song that the 'stones basically stole in the first place. then scumbag who had no creative part in it at all allen klein is the one who started the trouble so to get all the royalties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coelacanth∅:

...i guess that's why i didn't recognise it. it wasn't the rolling stones' "last time" at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Brian in UK:

Hey music fans this is for you.
Avatar 2:08pm Sem:

Haaaa! All the news that's fit...
Avatar 2:11pm Bill Mac:

This made our news today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Brian in UK:

Phil Och's first album 'All the News That's Fit to Sing'. Fair turned my head. Still does.
Avatar 2:18pm Sem:

And in the same era, Mort Sahl would have a copy of the NYT folded under his arm as he went on stage, and then riff on the news of the day contained therein...
Avatar 2:19pm Sem:

Yikes. Have not heard this in a great long time. Much obliged.
Avatar 2:20pm Bill Mac:

Sometimes you need a little Jimi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm coelacanth∅:

i often need a little Jimi. i not infrequently need a lot of Jimi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm fred:

Has anyone launched a Milli Vanilli blockchain currency yet?
Avatar 2:22pm Sem:

Be the first one on your block, fred,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm northguineahills:

lo siento, took a nap, woke originally at 3:30 after falling asleep at 20:00 last night. Circadian rhythms, how do they work!????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm coelacanth∅:

nice. haven't heard this in a minute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm northguineahills:

Phil Ochs!!! Any of his bios (I've read), are great *

*also tearjerkers....
Avatar 2:24pm Bill Mac:

What about fucking magnets, NGH
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm coelacanth∅:

i know a little about circadian rhythms. i know more about cicadian riddims.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Brian in UK:

Thanks Bill.

@ngh this got you going!
I am in the same state as you CDs and records all in boxes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm northguineahills:

@Bill Mac: Now, that's something I can explain!

Didn't Phil take his life in Far Rockaway? (Books at my house have yet to abc'ed.)
Avatar 2:28pm Sem:

Yes, NGH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm northguineahills:

@Brian in the UK: CDs and records are happily alphabeticalized in their shelves/towers. Most books are out of the boxes, but yet to be shelved. (Before the next time the missus visits).

@Bill: Oh yeah, I got the O'Reilly reference ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm northguineahills:

In other news, my wife's last interview was FINALLY approved yesterday, only 6 weeks after the interview. Each previous one took 30 mins. The hoops they made us jump through this time was insane. Next year, we start the citizenship process. (one less stressor down).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm northguineahills:

Still waiting for the hard copy of the interview (only confirmed by our lawyer).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm fred:

My records are set up in three parts: people I've seen live, people I haven't, and WFMU premiums. The last one is the only one that is ordered, according to the current schedule (off schedule is a mess). I like it that way, it helps me pull off something I forgot about when looking for something else. I try to randomize it regularly, but I'm running out of shelf space
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Brian in UK:

@ngh Yes at Far Rockaway, His sister's house. She has DJ'd on this station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Brian in UK:

Great show, Bill. got to get my skates on and eat some fish.
Avatar 2:39pm Bill Mac:

Good luck with that Brian! See you soon!
Avatar 2:39pm Sem:

See ya later, BiUK. Hi to Lili.
Avatar 2:41pm Bill Mac:

@Fred How many premiums do you have?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm fred:

Michel Colombier also wrote a lot of Psyche Rock. The guy contributed on at least two classics, but was thoroughly overshadowed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm northguineahills:

I'm a strict albecedarian, no categories for me for my records. I flirted w/ the Library of Congress System for my books, but decided against it.

(worked in the university library as an undergrad).
Avatar 2:42pm Bill Mac:

@Fred I really liked that cut
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm melinda:

Nice to hear Patsy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm northguineahills:

yeah, that guitar lick on "Requiem Pour un Con" kills me every time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm melinda:

My CDs and records are semi-organized by category but mostly it's chaos.
Avatar 2:46pm Bill Mac:

@Melinda It's been awhile since I played her
Avatar 2:48pm Sem:

Oh, Captain, My Captain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm melinda:

This is the first Beefheart song I heard. Dig it.
Avatar 2:52pm Bill Mac:

We have OCD when it comes to the Captain here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm northguineahills:

representing recent Masters recipient maester Dougy Doug!
Avatar 2:52pm Sem:

True that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm fred:

@Bill Mac: I don't know, somewhere north of five hundred
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm northguineahills:

(was listening to an English etymology history podcast in the pre-dawn hours. That's where George Martin got the term (if he tolkeinized the language as I think).
Avatar 2:59pm Bill Mac:

Folks, I'm off until the next time, which is who knows when. Thanks for showing up, good time as always. See you sooooon!!!!
Avatar 3:00pm Sem:

See ya, Bill, Zzzzzzeroheads, next time. Be well, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm fred:

Very nice show as usual Bill, thanks for filling in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zzzzzzero out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm fred:

@Bill Mac: current tally of premiums is 565, so I wasn't too far off
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Bill!
