A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

TDK60 - That show was fantastic. The show airs on television, but has a new rendition that isn't as good as the original. It might be on Netflix or Hulu? I loved this show as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am EG_Astro:

They movies are definitely available on youtube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am The Oscar:

@TDK60 They actually just relaunched it on Netflix-- new cast, but Joel's back on board writing/producing. You can also find a bunch of classic episodes scattered around various streaming services. There's one called PlutoTV which basically works like a fake cable package, and one channel is entirely dedicated to MST3K 24 hours a day. In a few small ways, it's a good time to be alive.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am !ke:

@TDK60, as I noted above, "Cry Wilderness" is part of the new season on Netflix and it's amazing(ly terrible) and hilarious. But some of the other episodes are pretty lame. For instance, there's nothing they can do to make "Starcrash" less than pure suffering, even with all their jokes. It's not a fun kind of bad, it's just straight-up pain (and the Hoff, who might as well be a Nobel Laureate compared to most of the cast, isn't even in much of it).

I SO need some disco right now. Thanks, Trouble!
Avatar 11:14am TDK60:

LL: Delightful is one of the adjectives for Trouble's show. I hear they call it enchanteur in French.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am thriftstoreleather:

off to work, have a good one folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am steveo:

Last night some Led Zeppelin song about elves or something came on FUV and I thought Robert Plant's voice sounded particularly beautiful at one point so I joked that I didn't know that Sandy Denny sang with Zeppelin and then I looked it up and it WAS Sandy Danny. Thanks WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Linda Lee:

enchanteur ~ always.
  11:16am Karen:

Morning! I named my oboe Oblio, after The Point.
(Sorry for delayed response, cleaning the entire cup of coffee spilled into my purse.)
Avatar 11:17am coelacanth∅:

Sem i'd give you some of mine if we were closer in proximity. i've saved them, but practically never wear them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Linda Lee:

believe that's a noun though!
Avatar 11:18am JakeGould:

@steveo: The second I realized Robert Plant was singing about Hobbits and stuff like that that is the day some of Led Zeppelin’s catalog was kicked down multiple notches for me. Uggh. Bleagh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Linda Lee:

.. yes, someone who casts spells. Trouble does that for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Ike:

thanks for that unknown human orchestra like it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am steveo:

Yeah always struck me as cheesy, Jake. I guess they were going for a kind of folk-rock feel, though?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Linda Lee:

generally if you see the 'eur' ending, that's a noun.
i know this from my dances with the brainbell jongleur as a youth.
Avatar 11:22am TDK60:

Love that L. Zep cut with Denny. Maybe Fairport Convention influenced? Nice addition to their usual heavy sound.
Avatar 11:23am coelacanth∅:

i still occasionally listen to led zeppelin II & III. good stuff; not too hobbitty.
Avatar 11:24am coelacanth∅:

...and 2 songs from the 4th. (battle of evermore & four sticks)
Avatar 11:25am TDK60:

I like Zep AND The Fall! How can one brain handle it?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Linda Lee:

tang was invented for General Foods in the good ol' USA, coel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Linda Lee:

that astronauts thing was pure marketing.
Avatar 11:33am dale:

it's actually teng, not tang. but still as refreshing.

  11:38am kevlicki:

@Trouble, do you listen to Mirah? She’s a musician that I don’t hear much of on WFMU and is super talented.
Avatar 11:38am Lixiviated Life:

tang: (taNG)
1. a strong taste, flavor, or smell.
2. the projection on the blade of a tool such as a knife, by which the blade is held firmly in the handle.

(and they wanted us kids to drink this?)
  11:38am mrmikestandsir:

Trouble, did/do you fence? What weapon?
(dumb question actually. the only people who talk about fencing are themselves fencers...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Linda Lee:

LL ~ had no idea that was called the tang!
  11:39am own crabapplesatellite Johnson:

I can't be the voice of reason forever... eventually you're all going to have to go out, go to a grocery store, and eat something. Pro tip: You should probably take your groceries home first, eating in the store is generally frowned upon.

"natural tasting" ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Adrian in London:

I'm thinking of getting an iPad and using at as my main computer; my 10yo MacBook has stopped letting me use the letters Q and W, which makes it difficult to type in WFMU to the menu bar…
Avatar 11:42am northguineahills:

If fencing is so mainstream, why did I have to stream it online during the last summer olympics, and not on tv?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Linda Lee:

kevlicki ~ i like the stuck progress bar, myself. "error: spring failed to load."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am KevinfromBayRidge:

Saw Ms Teng at Lincoln Center in the 80s. Very impressive. Tragic early(42 years old) death.

Dale, it’s an amusing perspective. Not so funny when you work on a farm tho. Sucks to be outside and things are not growing very quickly

Avatar 11:50am coelacanth∅:

i actually poach the eggs for the dogs! but i'm sure they'd rather have what i'm having.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Ken From Hyde Park:

When I was a kid, fencing meant loading posts and barbed wire into the pickup and driving around the pasture's perimeter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Linda Lee:

think it's called 'salad' cause the eggs are chopped up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Greg from ZONE 5:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Linda Lee:
