Bonjour, Mary.
Avatar 12:02pm Mary Wing:

Salut, Brian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Carmichael:

Heya Mary and future listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm doctorjazz:

David Garland-the old WNYC radio host? (I know he is a composer/performer as well; used to love his Spinning On Air show)
Hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm doctorjazz:

Lovely piece!
Avatar 12:12pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Carmichael and doctorjazz! Yes, this is most excellent; the words are by Yoko Ono.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mary. If you're looking for some air time, the 7SD slot might be available tonight. I gave Ken that suggestion this morning.
Avatar 12:24pm Mary Wing:

Oh really, Ken? What's the story about that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Andy Breckmanman is out of town and unable to Skype in. Ken was looking for suggestions on what to air. He was asking Aaron from Mpls to send him an hour show if he has one.
Avatar 12:28pm Mary Wing:

Not sure I could handle an hour of Aaron, heh. ken's not looking for a music show though, is he? He likes the chatter at that hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Jeff Golick:

Oooh yeah.
Avatar 12:34pm Mary Wing:

Oh hell yeah, Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm maestroso:

Hippychick! (Hi Mary)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

You could play songs backwards and have callers guess the song.
Avatar 12:38pm Mary Wing:

Heh! I'd love that, actually.

Hey there, maestroso!
  1:01pm Ike:

Capital idea! Sounds a little easy, though. Maybe backwards AND sped up or slowed down AND just an excerpt. I think SSD did ultra-brief excerpts as a call-in guessing topic once, but this would be a new variant.
  1:08pm Ike:

As I've said before, I'm surprised Fabio hasn't done one of those yet....
Avatar 1:16pm Mary Wing:

Hi Ike! Well, it would take a lot of work to prepare the sound bites, for starters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm doctorjazz:

Hard to make much of same chord progressions-my daughter's guitar teacher told her she needed 4 chords, and could play 95% of what's out there...and he was right.
the versus of Don't Stop Believing are the same chords as this, I believe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm doctorjazz:

And yes, it is the same chord progression (I-V- IIm-IV, sounds like)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm doctorjazz:

(the chorus is different on the Green Day)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm doctorjazz:

All Time Low likes these chords as well (a fave of my teen daughter, along with Green Day)
Avatar 1:24pm Mary Wing:

Four chords sounds about right for most radio songs, yeah.
Avatar 1:40pm david w:

Hello Mary and all! A little late to catch you today but happy to hear what I can!
Avatar 1:42pm Mary Wing:

Howdy David & Ridgewood crew!
Avatar 1:55pm northguineahills:

off to lunch, hear ya there!
Avatar 1:56pm Mary Wing:

Hi and bye, NGH!
  1:57pm Ike:

Sound bites?! I must've misunderstood. I just meant a premium of all songs w/moaning ladies in them....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Scraps deSelby:

Avatar 2:08pm Mary Wing:

Scraps! Just in time for 3oak!
Avatar 2:08pm Mary Wing:

Oh, I thought you were talking about backward Name That Tune, Ike?
  2:29pm Spaceman One:

Hello Mary, do you have the Christmas version of "Ring My Bell?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm steveo:

here I am! you can ring your own bell, Mary!
Avatar 2:32pm Mary Wing:

Hi Spaceman One, there's a Christmas version? Who does it?
Avatar 2:33pm Mary Wing:

  2:35pm Spaceman One:

the band Christmas - B side of their Stupid Kids 12 inch. Christmas were from Boston in the 80s.
Avatar 2:38pm Mary Wing:

Oh... Christmas the band, heh. Lemme see if I can find it.
Avatar 2:40pm northguineahills:

Ack missed the Blood Sisters (a fave of mine)
Avatar 2:40pm fred:

Good afternoon Mary and all
Avatar 2:41pm Mary Wing:

Howdy, Sem; you're on tour?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm steveo:

Haha. WE ARE THE 100%.
  2:48pm Sem near Oxford UK:

Yeah, w/ a Toad the Wet Sprocket tribute dub band. Going sorta ok, ;-)
Avatar 2:49pm Mary Wing:

Heh heh heh.
Avatar 2:49pm fred:

I don't think I had heard Big Country in the past 30 years or so. Still recognized their sound
Avatar 2:51pm Mary Wing:

Yeah, nobody seems to have copied that bagpipe-ish guitar sound.
  2:54pm Sem near Oxford UK:

Sorry to have missed DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Plinth, will refresh the memory archivewise.
Avatar 2:57pm fred:

@Mary: Weird, isn't it? Then again, I have never heard a guitarish bagpipe sound
Avatar 2:58pm northguineahills:

Lot's of Black Lips on WFMU lately!

Thanks Mary!
Avatar 3:00pm Mary Wing:
