guy on the f train back in the 80s would take a newspaper and tear out an article. then he would tear off each line as he read it and stuff it in his shirt pocket. the noise got to me once, that incessant sloooow tearing sound, and i yelled 'do you really HAVE to do that?!' he stopped then but after that if i saw him on a car i moved because i felt like i was the one who was the jerk.

I know it yesterday, but since no one answered Clay's call for info on the Oneida Community, I feel obliged since I learned about it in college. As Medson said, founded by John Humphrey Noyes in 1848, they were "Perfectionists", believing Jesus had already returned to earth, therefore they could establish the Millennial Kingdom. This included communalism, complex marriage, male continence, and expanded rights for women. en.wikipedia.org... I didn't realize that other Noyesian Communities were established, including one started 1853 in Newark. The original Community fled to Niagara Falls, Canada in 1879 with Noyes's arrest imminent, and fell apart soon after. However, Oneida Silverware was their most successful venture, though no longer manufactured in NY.

@melinda, any DJ offering a tote bag premium, I grabbed it. Any leftover tote bags in the prize vault? I claimed 'em. I'm stoked. They will join my collection of Prairie Home Companion, Downton Abbey, Nina Totenbag, and more

Who's been dissing Pet Sematary? One of my favorite Ramones songs, especially Joey's plaintive chorus. Gotta drop by his grave, which is at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, because he wanted a view of The City. www.findagrave.com...
