Yay, Cotton Mather is the cherry on top of your fabulous show! <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Once the station meets the $1.5M goal, the next fund-raiser should be to install an LED sign on the front of the building. Most of the time, the sign will display the dancing Ken GIF. That and Stashu's live polka video feeds.

I saw it - Alice was fine, but I was expecting/hoping for better than fine. Wish he'd opened up at least half-singing instead of just talking the intro.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Bill in W.O.:

OK, OK, those Lemon Twigs tracks are great. How does I buy them for my very own?
Avatar 12:45pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

April Fools is my birthday, so thanks for playing that Foolin' Around song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Lizardner Dave:

I watched it and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I think Alice was playing it oleaginous rather than over-the-top. Judas was great and Pilate was great though I have no idea who those folks are.
Avatar 12:47pm Listening Out There:

Good Alice-related read is Shep Gordon's "Supermensch." Shep managed Alice, fed the Dalai Lama, helped create foodie culture...
  12:49pm Chreep:

Thank god Herod only has one song
  12:51pm Doug C.:

As always the villain is the most compelling character. Judas had a real star turn in JC Superstar. I think John Legend has too good a life to make his way through what is supposed to be the real emotional turmoil the part requires. Pop on to youtube to listen to the original Jesus, Ted Neely who gives no holds barred vocal performances and the correct reading of the meaning of the words.

This is a different version of "Lady" from the one I remember from 70s radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm tadpole:

I would like to get some work done but I would also live to be photoshopping Andy Breckman into the dancing Ken gif.
Avatar 1:14pm dale:

that was nuts - during the song 'mercy' i started singing 'lady.' maybe it wasn't so nuts after all.
Avatar 1:14pm Pseu Braun:

Josh Mostel/Herrod "camp counselor" that is awesome

....and i thought the 10cc song was someone like christine perfect
Avatar 1:19pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

  1:20pm FletcherNYC:

Probably “the man” owns the old recordings. LRB May be sticking it to “the man”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Uncle Michael:

It's all about mechanical royalties. They earn a lot more on a rerecord than the original.
  1:23pm FletcherNYC:

“Want dead”
Avatar 1:23pm Jollyroget:

After 10 years you can redo your master recordings and retain the rights, so if you licsense the song you get the money not your old record label.
  1:26pm Doug C.:

This re-recording of records is done for increased payments for the band in the world of spotify and pandora regarding performance rights. It has less to do with the sales of mostly dispersed fan bases and more to do with our new dark world of the the digital payout. I think the first to do it was Def Leppard who re-recorded their entire first album for increased royalties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Carmichael:

Come Monday.
  1:26pm FletcherNYC:

But I would be roommates with LRB if Buffet would disappear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Uncle Michael:

Come Monday
  1:26pm Jim H:

"Come Monday" Buffett
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Kat in Chicago:

Well, this is enlightening. I was going to say I liked the old version better, but "liked" is probably too strong a term. "Preferred", perhaps.

13th Floor Elevators supposedly coined the term Psychedelic Music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Bill in W.O.:

Absolutely right on Jimmy Buffet. His early career country-pop stuff is OK. He did the soundtrack to a favorite obscure-ish 70's movie Rancho Deluxe that's OK - "Livingston Saturday Night" isn't terrible. But everything Caribbean-based/post-1975 is junk. His cult is inexplicable and further proof of the deterioration of Western Civilization.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Uncle Michael:

I was seated right behind Jimmy and the CRB the first time they saw "Rancho Deluxe." This is a true fact.
Avatar 1:37pm Pseu Braun:

RIP tiki treasure Don the Beachcomber in my old hood Huntington Beach, CA
Avatar 1:37pm dale:

little river cult?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm paul b:

a) I thought re-records had to do with some copyright scam. ie if an artist re-records it and makes that the only version available they get all the royalty money not the back catalog owner --something like that
b) "I've spent four lonely days in a brown LA haze & I just want you back by my side" Yes his best song
c) I might also add "Woman going crazy on Caroline street"

Years ago when I was in Florida with the Navy saying admiring things about Jimmy Buffet was required under state law.
Avatar 1:38pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Bill-I learned of the cult of JB when in the USAF. My instructor (a lady) got really really hammered at a JB concert and got dressed up in a parrot head. Weird. He is like the Grateful Dead to some people I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm PBastille:

I know it's a Steve Goodman cover, but I still can't watch Lets Make a Deal without humming Door Number Three
Avatar 1:42pm Pseu Braun:

"raging"? So sexist.
  1:43pm Doug C.:

How about some Martin Denny to wash away the specter of the Buffet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Rob (Jerzcity):

Avatar 1:45pm dale:

I will say once nice thing about Jimmy Buffet. I like his fans willingness to aim for a totally high good time.

Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Chreep:

He made a surprise appearance at a music festival once ..and somebody had a parrot in the audience.... HE WAS NOT ANNOUNCED ..meaning somebody travels with a parrot JUST IN CASE Jimmy Buffet shows up

Sara B sorta' killed it on JC Superstar the other night. I managed to catch one of her songs. It was quite the thing!
Avatar 2:04pm dale:

buble should have played christ. he would have nailed it so to speak.

  2:18pm Jim H:

JL has nice voice, to be sure. Still have tinnitus from an AC concert years ago.
  2:20pm David in London:

That was a really nice set, though I felt a bit forlorn listen to a song about a ‘hippy summer’ whilst looking out of the window at the drizzle.
Avatar 2:28pm Listening Out There:

Charlie commented earlier. Hi, Charlie, listeners miss you...well, some of us do. Get back on the air someday, OK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Bill in W.O.:

Totally with neilwarren on the XTCness of the Michael Simmons track. Was embarrassed to recognize it was the Sparklejets UK guy only after I looked it up.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Mike Sin:

re: Hudson Bros.
I actually had the chance the meet the very hyperactive Mark Hudson. I had him sign my album, and I think he was happy that someone wanted to speak about some inane details of his past instead of getting hit with a million questions about producing Ringo Starr... his his niece's acting career.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Michael 98145:

She is the daughter of actors Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates end quote
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm The Oscar:

Wiki says Frankie is the daughter of Phoebe Cates and Kevin Kline. Which is super weird, because I think I eavesdropped on some college kids talking about going to her house once years ago, and I had no idea she was someone notable in her own right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Michael 98145:

@dale, i was quite fond of the Innocence Mission. for what that's worth.
