Avatar 5:07pm Mary Wing:

Kling klang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Webhamster Henry:

This is Balinese gamelan, which is quite different from Degung stuff that the gamelan I'm in plays. Although the Slendro stuff we do is kind of like the texture here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Scraps redux:

I should have known Mary Wing likes gamelan. It’s all bells!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Avatar 5:18pm Mary Wing:

Heh! All bells, all the time!

This is such a fun set, Mary!

Avatar 5:59pm northguineahills:

We need to rescue Ike from Kyrgyzstan!
Avatar 6:00pm Mary Wing:

Heh. I thought he was chewing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Ike:

ROTFL. Don't worry, that was just Ikegyzstanian (or Ikeinese, if you prefer) for "I'm back, HIPPIES!!!!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Webhamster Henry:

Mary Wing: now with 100% more Whatever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Carmichael:

What the hell!?! You're still on??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

MaryWing !! It's the tuneful hardrives - make me think of Do or DiY...
Hey - anybody know if there's a 128AAC superstream thangy for the Drummer channel?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm ɨkɛ:

@WH, no no, earlier she said it was just 66% more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Parq:

What Carmichael said. Are you back, or have you been on all this time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Carmichael:

RevRab, it appears to only be 128mp3 ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Gary:

Love not tainted!
Avatar 6:10pm northguineahills:

NYS state took my tax refund, plus another $580, even though I'm paying them $280/mo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm ɨkɛ:

Ridgewood Radio was on from 3 to 5 ET. (As far as I know, Ridgewood Radio is always in Ridgewood, so snow doesn't stop 'em....)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Carmichael:

I just ran over to Irwin's house, then ran away from Breckman back to here. And Mary's still spinnin'!
Avatar 6:12pm Mary Wing:

I had a 2 hour break, wherein I ate snacks and chatted with the lovely FMU folks here.
Avatar 6:16pm Mary Wing:

Anybody remember what "the hot stays hot and the cold stays cold" refers to?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm ɨkɛ:

Speaking of Fabio, someone recently claimed there's fewer awesomely avant-ish programs like Fabio's show in the last 10 years or so. I don't think so. Do youse guys think so? For comparison: wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:17pm northguineahills:

@Mary Wing: McDonald's McDLT.
Avatar 6:18pm Mary Wing:

DING! NGH is correct!
  6:19pm rw:

Hello! I’m confused.
  6:20pm rw:

Is it 100% Mary Wing day?
Avatar 6:21pm northguineahills:

My memory is autistic, I just wish it would remember something important, like, where are my pants....
Avatar 6:21pm Mary Wing:

You know, Ike, I was thinking about that comment (I think it was from Fred), and perhaps he is skewing the Wake and Bake show into the mix. Wake and Bake did "replace" the 5 stream shows which were there while JM in the AM was on, especially for our foreign listeners...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

So hot it's kewl
- so kewl it's hot
...HipHop yer Swing to Bop a Rawk
...why knot......
Avatar 6:22pm Mary Wing:

Hi rw! And RevReb, Parq, and those lurking!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Carmichael:

@Ike, Looks from that old schedule that many of my faves (including Madame Wing) migrated over to the Drummer Stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Parq:

Mary, it's a pleasant surprise to catch this show, since I missed your regularly scheduled one earlier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm ɨkɛ:

True. Another thing that skews it is that Bethany isn't on Sundays from 10 to midnight anymore, nor is Dave Mandl. And Scott M., formerly one of those web-only morning shows, has not joined the Drummer stream yet either. Also, back then Pseu was playing lots of weird stuff mixed in with her pop, and now she's just pop (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Avatar 6:34pm Mary Wing:

And we spent so much time together on Sunday in the phone room Parq. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Carmichael:

I gots me my ticket to see Mr. Byrne this summer here in Sacramento. Much excited!
Avatar 6:36pm northguineahills:

Scott M is on the Drummer Stream for fill-ins.
Avatar 6:36pm Mary Wing:

If only David would wear the big white suit again...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Asheville Jon:

great stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm ɛɨk:

AFAIK both Bethany and Dave M. bailed out (for now) of their own volition so unlike what CoelØ (I think him first, before Fred joined in) implied, I don't think it's an intentional scheduling move by the station, just what the DJs happen to be doing or living or into.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Carmichael:

He was on Colbert a few weeks ago. Odd, fun, inventive character.
Avatar 6:41pm Mary Wing:

Thanks, Jon! Jeez, 2 hours feels like I'm barely getting started, and now it's almost over!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Seems it's the DJ's choice more often than not...
Avatar 6:41pm northguineahills:

Kurt snuck into the studio again...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm ⓔⓚⓔⓔ:

I really liked J. Williger's fill-in for Ken earlier. Hope he and Rancho Thatchmo get on the schedule someday....
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

@Ike: Yeah, J. Williger's set was what I needed this morning after the shitshow of a week I've had. We need to hear him again.
Avatar 6:46pm northguineahills:

Sort of like how the only decent club music we get these days is from Duane, Small Change, Jesse and Sam Segal when they feel like playing it. We lost a lot when /rupture and later Lamin left.
Avatar 6:48pm Mary Wing:

Have you listened to DJ Time Traveler, NGH?
Avatar 6:50pm northguineahills:

I have yet to MW.
Avatar 6:50pm Mary Wing:

This sounds like a video game, suddenly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

GaryLucas: ...'I played both MagicBand guitar parts @ once for Beefheart - & his jaw dropped'...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm ⓔⓚⓔⓔ:

Lamin's show was so great! Wish he'd come back. As for DJ TT, the playlists don't suggest anything club-music-y to me....
Avatar 6:59pm northguineahills:

Holy smith, Thanks MAry!

Yeah Ike, wish he would have been given a 3 hour show more often. He did a lot like Jesse, field recordings, noise, avant guarde, ethnic folk, and club music of genres from around the world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx MW !
Avatar 7:00pm Mary Wing:

Thanks for hanging with me! See you next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Loves the DrummerStream - yerknow ?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Webhamster Henry:
