Party Time!
  12:08am Goobz:

Let's rock
  12:08am DJ E:

Michael Bloomfield said that Moby Grape we're the only San Francisco band he liked as they were the only "professionals". always found that weird. MG are great though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am fleep:

Arbitrary extended daylight greetings.
Avatar 12:11am Cheyenne:

Howdy all! MC Cheyenne here - thanks for joining us on this most auspicious and already enjoyable evening!!!
  12:11am Goobz:

The other GD
  12:12am Goobz:

Was it Moby Grape that Huey Lewis played with?
Avatar 12:12am Jeff Conklin:

Morning, all. Please welcome the incredible Cheyenne to the AG
  12:14am Agent Peter:

Careful with the 80's references around here :-)
Huey Lewis was in Clover
Avatar 12:15am Cheyenne:

Sorry I said "evening" - I'm still on California time! Thanks for pledging everyone. Call us at 800-989-9368 OR online at wfmu.org!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Andrew Waterloo:

I get the impression Moby Grape existed in a period where "professional" meant a lot of things.
Avatar 12:17am Cheyenne:

Pledge this hour and get in our prize drawing. $20 or more gets you a chance at the Paul Major "Feel the Music" anthology CD, Fumio Miyashita "Live On The Boffomundo Show" LP, or Gunn-Truscinski Duo "Bay Head" LP!
Avatar 12:18am Jeff Conklin:

Let's hear those phones folks!

  12:25am Goobz:

@Agent Peter. Thanks! I made a 60s era Huey ref though. Bay Area freak from way back
  12:27am Goobz:

*wouldnt mind hearing some Touch of Grey era Dead tonight though; since you mentioned the 80s ;)
  12:34am Christopher A Danni:

Cheers, Jeff. Great tunes
  12:36am Bee Death:

hallo people
  12:42am SelloutScharpling69:

My God, people are still equating online music lovers with thieves. Not everyone makes a million dollars every month to buy 5000 albums like FMU can afford. Musicians don't deserve to be millionaires.
Avatar 12:43am Jeff Conklin:

FMU doesnt buy any albums but thanks for the troll attempt. Be gone.
Avatar 12:46am Jeff Conklin:

Seriously though, couple more big pledges and I'll drop some unreleased International Harvester on y'all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Andrew Waterloo:

This Gunn-Truscinski Duo is sweet.
Avatar 12:48am Adamsworth:

That's cool that a $75 pledge gets you an FMU shirt and magnet along with the DJ premium this year.
Avatar 12:49am Cheyenne:

The magnet is so great. It glows in the dark!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Andrew Waterloo:

It will look great on my office cabinet.
  12:59am Bee Death:

tonights show is so upbeat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Ron:

Killer show as always Jeff! I'm one of the, apparently many, Brooklyn insomniacs listening live on mondays
  1:06am yippie:

Cheyenne you are not really shy I was kidding but this show is always terrific even if you dont want David Peel, I love all the music you play. one amazing thing in LA is almighty opp now wfmu is finally starting to play this amazing puppet show music of almighty opp
  1:07am yippie:

im gonna start listening to Cheyenne FMA show, I like hearing you on clay pigeon wake and bake and now on marathon too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am pacific standard simon:

That's a good point about "human curating", Jeff -- I do sometimes use Pandora, but it's an incredible amount of work to keep it from playing all sorts of irrelevant crap.
Avatar 1:11am Adamsworth:

All those streaming services suck, and they make you pay if you say, want to hear the Kinks but not mostly their 80s stuff!
Avatar 1:12am Anthony in North Florida:

Is this 2-14-68?
  1:12am Agent Peter:

VLB - As rockinest as it gets!

Lyrics somewhat confounding when in Tahoe however...
  1:12am Adam West Coaster:

Thank you so much, Jeff and Cheyenne! I am very excited to hear the live Fumio Miyashita release!!! I was pretty certain I *wouldn’t* win it. I just thought I’d dream out loud in mentioning it. WFMU is my real prize! I am what folks would call “poverty level.” Haha. But, I keep on “swagging for life” for the station, because I love this community, beyond mere words. ❤️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am pacific standard simon:

Tony Bourdain, who I admire, says he would fire anyone who played the Dead in HIS kitchen. So I guess he would have to fire me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am fleep:

[Happy clicking noises] Thanks, Jeff & Cheyenne
Avatar 1:15am Adamsworth:

One time I was on a road trip through Wisconsin and the Dead came on TWICE, and both times he was into it until they backannounced what played, and changed the station, ha ha
  1:16am BEAVO:

Love the early raw stuff
  1:17am yippie:

the 68 and 69 live dead is always good I think I heard 90% of the dark star the eleven jams so viola lee blues is sounding super fresh tonite
  1:17am BEAVO:

Is this the one from Tahoe?
Avatar 1:18am Cheyenne:

Thanks so much for pledging tonight, friends! We're getting closer to that goal!
Avatar 1:22am Anthony in North Florida:

Cheyenne How do I favorite your show on GTDR?
Avatar 1:23am Cheyenne:

Hi Anthony! Look me up at wfmu.org/playlists/fm
Avatar 1:23am Jeff Conklin:

Yes, Beavo!
Avatar 1:23am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks so much for the pledges, folks. Seriously.
Avatar 1:25am Jeff Conklin:

We're loving all the phone calls by the way.

More! Let's hit this goal tonight!!!
Avatar 1:25am Cheyenne:

Keep 'em coming! We have three AMAZING prizes up for grabs. Pledge $20 or more for F. J. McMahon "Spirit Of The Golden Juice" LP, Richard Osborn "Endless" LP, or Shannon Lay "Living Water" LP! They'll be gone at the top of the hour, so get your pledges in soon to be safe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am pacific standard simon:

@Adamsworth - That would be a Wisconsin Dead Trip, ha ha -- inside photography joke.
Avatar 1:27am Jeff Conklin:

btw, I believe the FJ McMahon repress is out of print.
Avatar 1:28am Cheyenne:

And Jeff's premium has previously unreleased tracks -- literally priceless -- for $75 or more! Chip in, support freeform noncommercial radio, AND get bragging rights!!
Avatar 1:29am Anthony in North Florida:

87-93 dead was the only dead I saw live. IDK why it gets a bad rap except that old timers still don’t like us touch heads.
  1:30am yippie:

crazy to think that jam was half a century old it still has live fiery energy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am pacific standard simon:

I am very partial to the GD when I was listening to them on KSAN in San Francisco, so '71-'74.
Avatar 1:31am Cheyenne:

@yippie - some music ages well; other music is timeless.
  1:32am snooobz:

tuning in from texas
Avatar 1:32am Jeff Conklin:

I'm a proud touchhead. Well actually I'm not even that. Never saw them. But love that period, Anthony
Avatar 1:32am Jeff Conklin:

<3 Snoobz
  1:33am Goobz:

Touch heads are still better than Mayer heads (*frosted tips). 87-93 had some great shows
  1:33am Erik in Michigan:

Greetings from Chicago...just got back to the hotel after the phil/Bobby show. Really great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34am pacific standard simon:

Carnival In Babylon -- I love that Amon Düül II album. Still have a copy. Very hippie-ish, least abrasive, maybe.
Avatar 1:36am Anthony in North Florida:

Keep on playing dead. And give Widespread Panic a try sometime. You might like em.
Avatar 1:36am Jeff Conklin:

Ok here you go:

  1:37am Erik in Michigan:

Avatar 1:37am Jeff Conklin:

I've seen Panic a few times and will stream them live sometimes. Good band!
Avatar 1:39am Cheyenne:

$20 or more to get in the drawing for this hour's prizes, pledge now by clicking the banner at the top of the page!
  1:39am Erik in Michigan:

How was this unreleased!?
Avatar 1:41am Jeff Conklin:

From the forthcoming boxset which contains 3 LPs of unreleased material...
Avatar 1:47am Jeff Conklin:

All of you are going to this American Primitive festival in Takoma Park next month, right?

  1:48am Erik in Michigan:

I wish...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48am Santos L. Halper:

Yay Jeff, keep doing your thing, thank you!!!
  1:49am Erik in Michigan:

Are you still heading to the Midwest, supporting the wet tuna?
  1:54am yippie:

do you think time is timeless
  1:56am yippie:

I think David peel voted for trump to help set the world on fire
  2:00am yippie:

im listening to more Richard Osborn over your talking and it sounds great together
Avatar 2:12am Jeff Conklin:

Up for grabs this hour for a pledge of 20 or more:

Tom Armstrong LP
Davy Graham LP
Philip Lewin LP

Avatar 2:13am Cheyenne:

We're getting closer to that goal!! Pitch in now and help us make $1,412 in the next 45 minutes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14am pacific standard simon:

Sour cream western: For A Few Dollops More.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am Guido from Cologne:

Good morning everyone! :-)
  2:22am yippie:

I like ramen westerns, they are like spaghetti westerns but with Japanese samurai cowboys
  2:23am yippie:

and they eat miles of ramen and ride horses for miles in Japan
  2:24am yippie:

of course lots of good music or just make your own soundtrack and watch in on low volume with subtitles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am pacific standard simon:

Yes, but the soba westerns have buckawheataroos!
  2:26am Mark R.:

Morning, Guido! Question: Is your name pronounced GWEE-doh or GEE-doh?
Avatar 2:27am Cheyenne:

$75 gets you a premium from Jeff's show AND a chance to win one of our three prizes: Davy Graham "Large As Life And Twice As Natural" LP, Philip Lewin "Am I Really Here All Alone?" LP, or Tom Armstrong "The Sky Is An Empty Eye" LP! $20 gets you in the running for the drawing at the end of the show.
  2:27am Mark R.:

Thank you for your continuing support of WFMU btw. It's been several years now that you've come through at Marathon time and we all appreciate it!
  2:28am yippie:

there can be a couple scenes with soba
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am Guido from Cologne:

GEE-doh in Germany
GWEE-doh (original italian pronounciation) internationally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am Guido from Cologne:

It's like Köln and Cologne.
  2:35am yippie:

my friend shy Anne is gun shy
Avatar 2:36am Cheyenne:

Thanks for chiming in and keeping us company tonight, friends! Keep those pledges flowin'! We've got a little more time to reach our goal - and we've come a long way already, which we can't thank you enough for. Truly, your support means the world to us!
Avatar 2:37am Cheyenne:

Woo! I hear a phone! Call us at 800-989-9368!
  2:38am Mark R.:

That's why my co-host last week (Dave, an American ex-pat who lives in Germany) pronounced it GEE-doh, whereas I've always thought it's GWEE-doh because I live in New Jersey. Make of that comment what you will.
Avatar 2:39am Cheyenne:

80% raised! We're getting closer!!! Thanks for all those pledges tonight - we are doing amazing things together.
Avatar 2:40am Cheyenne:

20 minutes to go! There's still time to call

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am pacific standard simon:

No "China Cat Sunflower"?
Avatar 2:44am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks so much for the pledges. WE"RE SO CLOSE!!!!
  2:44am yippie:

I like this song especially because it mentions frisco in the song and people in cali dont like it when you say frisco, but in songs and train lingo its appropriate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50am pacific standard simon:

Essentially the same song as "High Flying Bird", I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52am Guido from Cologne:

whow! Davy Graham!
Couldn't be better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55am pacific standard simon:

Other Simon! Hello!

And an extra special thanks to Cheyenne for doing such an awesome job. Support the FMA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am pacific standard simon:

My ex got in trouble with a previous boyfriend for thinking that this song was about a waterbed, not a wall of death..
