But that would be normal, right?

Haha ether. We had a lot of fun with that too, back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm annie:

i'd make a terrible junkie, i hate the smell of those gases.. i had surgery on my fet way back in '60 and the ether was powerful.. "smell like flowers", my ass..

Avatar 1:02pm northguineahills:

I used to roofie myself 20 years ago, I enjoyed it (although it made riding my bike impossible).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Stanley:

What the hell is 'roofie'?
  1:03pm johnk77:

keith had lots of aggro edge
as label co-owner of an artist
i toured with in 1979
however my sources on stones
tours since the 90s
called him a pussycat off-stage
despite pro user quantities
of blow, weed, cranberry juice
and vodka
more nice work selecter @billmac
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Parq:

Are we supposed to be making Gary Glitter references because of the riff in the Madfilth, or because of the roofie discussion? Or both?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Stanley:

Thanks βrian. But was that what ngh meant?
Avatar 1:10pm Bill Mac:

@Parq YES
Avatar 1:10pm northguineahills:

@Stanley: Si, rohypnol. when I was 18-19, I had a gf that had liberal access to various stuff. I grew out of that shortly and found what works for me.

Also sometimes referred to as "the date rape drug." Nothing to do with Medjools, mind you.
Avatar 1:17pm Brian in UK:

Got some lovely Coachella Valley dates right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Parq:

NGH deciding to roofie himself brings to mind that monologue of Tom Waits (from Nighthawks at the Diner, lo some 42 years ago) about taking advantage of yourself.
  1:18pm frenchee:

are we sure this is LOOOOOU?
  1:19pm frenchee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Stanley:

This Hany Mehenna is wonderful, Bill. Great find.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm The Oscar:

The album is all songs inspired by Edgar Allen Poe. The opening track is literally just Lou singing about Poe's life, with the chorus "These are the stories of Edgar Allen Poe/Not exactly the boy nextdoor!" The "Hop Frog" track is mostly Lou and Bowie yelling "Hop Frog!!" Steve Buscemi pops up on it. The whole thing is bananas, but not unlikable.
Avatar 1:22pm Brian in UK:

Love Antony's voice.
Avatar 1:23pm βrian:

Avatar 2:42pm Bill Mac:

Irt's like that here right now. We have pre summer warmth last week, now we're back to near freezing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm doctorjazz:

Squeeze in a comment, loving the set. Haven't heard a version of Needles and Pins I didn't like. Gave to look for this Tzadik record, sounds like fun.
(are you the DJ who plays Captain Beefheart the most? Not a bad thing...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Parq:

Garrison Keilor isn't very popular in these parts, and I hope you will excuse me for bringing up, but there's a line of his that I always quote: March was put into the year because God wanted people who don't drink to know what a hangover feels like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Stanley:

Fran, any good gigs lately or lined up? All I've got up here is Kamasi Washington in May
Avatar 2:43pm Bill Mac:

@DJ I think I am the Beefheart guy. Don't know whether my consistency in that department is good practice here but no one has complained.

Nice one, Fran. Yes, Os Mutantes. I'll have to see if they're coming north of the border. Saw Kamasi a couple of years ago. I hear he's got a new release - three tracks that can be played on their own or on top of of each other.
