Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

Yeah, it better be a good one. It's going on your permanent record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm efd:

Luckily my permanent record is written in invisible ink
Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Julie M:

Nice cover. Over the weekend I heard her cover of George Harrison's "Within You Without You," which was also really good!
  9:19pm andrewb:

boy what a voice that Patti
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm medson:

Hey Evan. Cant wait to get your DJ Premium and all the rest of my swag. Awesome crop this year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm Drunken Creep:

Patti and band sounding beautiful
Avatar 9:20pm JakeGould:

Wonder if you could go back to your public school and get your permanent record? I still have my elementary school report cards. Oh those notes!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm fleep:

medson, have you seen the cover of efd's premium? apparently there was a period of time in the 70s when the entire world ran out of shirts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Fuzzy:

Curious about that cover, like -- who is it? I thought Def Leppard for a sec, but that ain't right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm medson:

@fleep I did see it and I was thinking the same thing. It was the 70's who needed shirts or seatbelts. hahaha
  9:29pm andrewb:

havent thought about this magazine cut in decades . would have thought it was buzzcocks
  9:31pm johnk77:

soviet valves perhaps
a reference to tubes?
vacuum tubes in a guitar amp
  9:32pm andrewb:

Avatar 9:32pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

You beat me to the punch motherf*cker.
Avatar 9:34pm JakeGould:

Shhh… Don’t tell Evan than nobody cares about CDs nowadays. We just rip them!!!
  9:35pm johnk77:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Drunken Creep:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm efd:

Avatar 10:02pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Cherry giving off somewhat of a Parquet Courts vibe here...
  10:10pm herb.nyc:

wnyc has a pledge drive now, and its no fun hearing it. wfmu makes it fun for us, and themselves. Thx. I just wanted to say I'll be doing my usual donation PLUS 1%, something I started after Occupy. Maybe others will want to as well. Every little bit helps. (When I donate to Todd's show maybe I make it MINUS 1%.)
  10:14pm Figgsrock:

Wait, is this new (or newish) OMD? This is pretty great. Who knew?
  10:14pm Steve:

Hey Todd-o-phonic Todd, any upcoming new interviews like the excellent one you recently did with Eric Carmen ?
Avatar 10:15pm Number Six:

Evening, efd & all! New OMD is fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm efd:

@Figgsrock yeah, came out last fall!
  10:17pm Figgsrock:

@efd is it all sort of like this song? If so, you’re making me buy yet another album.
Avatar 10:18pm Number Six:

Sounds like they've been listening to a lot of Kraftwerk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm efd:

definitely worth picking up imo
  10:18pm Steve:

EFD, I see where there is going to be a deluxe expanded edition of John Foxx's classic 1980 album, 'Metamatic' coming out in the U.K. this May. Is that something you would play on your show ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm efd:

very likely! I liked that album a lot back in the day, saw that news about the reissue as well.
  10:20pm katharsis:

  10:21pm Steve:

Cool, I'd love to hear it !
Avatar 10:22pm Number Six:

New Ladytron!
10:23pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Ladytron should have been right after OMD--this track is very reminiscent of early OMD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm efd:

honestly that's kind of why I separated them! :)
  10:24pm Figgsrock:

I’ll add it to my pick up list. My music budget needs to have a built in EFD show portion each year at this point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm efd:

also I wanted Ladytron to be right before the mic break
  10:25pm kbo:

Haven't heard from Ladytron in a very long while! Honestly surprised to hear that they're still around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm DC:

That new Ladytron was outstanding on the ears
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm DC:

The good news keeps coming. Rat Scabies is Damned exciting
  10:37pm kbo:

Always thought PNK SLM stood for "pink slim", hahah
Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Julie M:

I was going to say "punk slam"... I like slime better, though. More punky. Night Evan and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm efd:

goodnight Julie!
  10:43pm medson:

It’s been a long day. Good night all. I’ll catch the rest on the archive Evan. Great show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm efd:

alright, thanks medson!
Avatar 10:58pm Number Six:

Here's a live video of OMD performing Isotype. Check out who the Audio Engineer is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

  11:33pm kbo:

That Bellamy Brothers song got stuck in my head after having watched HBO's The Leftovers last month, hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm Zetti:

Wow, Romanelli, super rare.
  11:43pm Theo:

My girl and I danced in the living room to the WHOLE show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm efd:

ha, I remember you Theo! Don't have one of those planned at the moment but I had a lot of fun doing that show.
  11:47pm Theo:

It was a GREAT night...but every night can be. You made it better. My GF called you to tell you how much fun we were having...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm fleep:

It was a good one! (But it always is.) Thanks, efd.
  6:30pm Pex:

Yes, Soviet Valves was a reference to Soviet valves.
  6:31pm Pex:

I blew my amp at our first rehearsal, took it to this guy, he rang me a few days later saying he needs to replace the valves and got some from USSR. this was 2004 and I already forgotten what USSR was. Told the singer what happened and he said: thats the name for the band, Soviet Valves!
