Avatar 1:30am

At my work we've been into listening to slowed down versions of songs off youtube lately. Hall and Oates I can't Go For That is one of the best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am
jj.:

nope, really the chipmunks! alvin.wikia.com...
Avatar 1:31am
grtyvr:

i will load Audacity just for that....
Avatar 1:32am
grtyvr:

still don't believe that the enunciation here is possible at chipmunk speed....
Avatar 1:33am
Adamsworth:

it's because it was recorded at that speed
Avatar 1:33am
grtyvr:

recorded at 16 and sped up?
Avatar 1:33am
Adamsworth:

You Just Keep Me Hanging On is my favorite of those slowed down Chipmunks. It sounds like their hearts are being torn out of their chests...

There is a slowed music for airports. Lovely
Avatar 1:37am
Adamsworth:

that's the link to the slowed down Chipmunks on soundcloud. I guess it's maybe by someone different than slowed down the one Jesse played?
Avatar 1:39am
grtyvr:

that is some tragic chipmunks....
Avatar 1:51am
grtyvr:

i still call shenanigans for the chipmunks reference. The sounds are spectacular, but I think the album title is clickbait, and it worked!
Avatar 1:52am
grtyvr:

is bennik far behind?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am
jj.:

i mean, it's definitely on this LP:
www.discogs.com...

and this guy claims responsibility:
nowtoronto.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am
coelacanth∅:

i always assumed the chipmunks was music recorded at regular speed > slowed down so singers can sing the song to it, slowly and with an abnormal amount of enunciation > then sped-up again.
then i figured maybe with newer digital technology they just sang it to the music and it was put through a process to make it sound like shit, er, i mean "chipmunks.
...i've never researched it.
Avatar 2:03am
grtyvr:

well Bagdasarian checks out... He is on the credits for the movie. It is almost like a message to the future

hey future 16 is the best speed to play it at.....
Avatar 2:04am
grtyvr:

and cole, yes, I have listened at regular speed and it is .... well,, not like it is at half speed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12am
coelacanth∅:

heh, that article is funny... Brian Borcherdt said the idea was simmering in the back of his mind for a long time.
... i wanted to play a chipmunks record at a slower speed when i was a kid of maybe 6, but my mother wouldn't allow chipmunks records in the house. i'm sure many many people have done it.
(we also had an rca suitcase stereo record player with 4 speeds; so either a 45 at 33, or a 33 at 16)
Avatar 2:14am
grtyvr:

@cole that is awesome, both that you had parents with taste and a cool sound tools.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am
coelacanth∅:

haha! the only reason i remember it was stereo is because when i was about 10 i asked for "through the past, darkly" for xmas and honky tonk woman had no guitar solo, just horns in the middle; and she's a rainbow & 2000 light years from home had no lead vox. i was to discover that it picked up only one channel and sent it to both speakers. i thought it was a remix of ht woman and, being unfamiliar with the other 2 songs thought they were instrumentals.
Avatar 2:23am
Adamsworth:

this is the 3rd night in a row I've heard the Crazy Doberman record on FMU. (Not complaining, it's great). First time hearing Dark Star played over it I think? Sounds cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27am
jj.:

bird song, heh. and yea, that LP has WFMU written all over it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am
coelacanth∅:

Jesse, as in the case of henry andersen a few weeks ago, knows when a record needs some help.
- i'd be happy to hear crazy doberman by itself but it's good to hear it mashed up as well.
