P.S. We are experts at cuddling and fluffing little four legged creatures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm melinda:

I went to a screening of film and video from the Lomax archive several years ago, and one of the most memorable ones was of an amazing clogger in North Carolina. It was also kind of funny because the person operating the camera set it down when it appeared that the clogging was over, but then he just kept clogging and then there was a scramble & jostling of the camera to keep filming.
Avatar 7:30pm hyde:

@melinda haha
Avatar 7:30pm glenn:

johnny. or old man.
Avatar 7:30pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm melinda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Gary:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm Gary:

We'll be hearing something from Uzbek later this evening; I didn't realize he had recorded that one!
Avatar 7:36pm still b/p:

It’s not from Lomax, but another clip called “The Best Clogging Video Ever Made” is a great kick. And stomp. And holler.
  7:37pm Jill B.:

We are loving this evenings music! We are doing the boogie in our chairs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Gary:

I thought you'd like this, Mom!

Tim!
Avatar 9:08pm tim abdellah:

Sending some love for the Lomax! I don't think any of his Moroccan recordings were published on records/cds, but they're all available on the Cultural Equity website. I did a short write-up with links here: moroccantapestash.blogspot.com...
Avatar 9:08pm hyde:

hiya, tim
Avatar 9:08pm hyde:

@whoa, nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Gary:

Oh, nice -- thanks, Tim!
Avatar 9:13pm tim abdellah:

Fun fact: Some of Lomax's Spanish recordings (published on Columbia) were used as source material for pieces on the Miles Davis/Gil Evans "Sketches of Spain" album (also on Columbia). The track "Saeta" definitely draws from the Lomax field recordings.
Avatar 9:13pm tim abdellah:

Heya Hyde!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Gary:

Did not know that!
Avatar 9:15pm northguineahills:

Cool tim!

I don't think the Moroccan recordings have been uploaded yet at cultural equity, but they plan to do so (posted link at the beginning).
Avatar 9:22pm tim abdellah:

@NGH - the Moroccan stuff is online and streaming! Dig it: research.culturalequity.org...
Avatar 9:27pm hyde:

love this set
Avatar 9:29pm northguineahills:

huh, I was just there (checked the link for morocco) in Dec. Can't wait for the Italian stuff to be uploaded. I was going through the St Kitts & Nevis stuff last weekend.

I am! But I didn't mention it -- forgot to
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm coelacanth∅:

i have a couple of Jelly Roll Morton albums i got from a cut out bin c.1981 but they're much older albums maybe early 60s latest. why they ended up in a cut out bin is a big mystery.
Avatar 9:41pm northguineahills:

Leaving work now (the wife is flying down Friday for 5 days), but I have a project due Monday, so, I've been pulling longer then usual hours. Thanks Gary!
