Most exalted Baby. Wig hat, check. I-Phone, check. WFMU App, check. Now is the time in the vineyard when we prune. I need to you to keep me on my feet. Reach back and throw lightning. I need strength.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Listener Baby:

Still waiting for my hands to unfreeze. My soul is ready, my body, nah. So.. what's new out there? Baby, what say you?
  11:29am Tennessee Jeb:

That was a badass song
Avatar 11:30am Michael Shelley:

  11:31am clarke:

baby - meaning you are sore from yesterday, right?? you weren't out there pre-dawn??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Listener Baby:

Hour upon hour, everyday. So freaking boring. Going out now. If it's too cold. nothing works out there. Most notably, me.
  11:33am clarke:

something i have discovered: aspercreme!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Frank In Queens:

@clarke I had an eye doctor appointment; my first in way too long. Got new specs, which I also haven't had in years. Other than that, just relaxed. You?
  11:34am clarke:

i recently got my scripts put in my ancient frames, but no eye check, ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Listener Baby:

@ Clarke. Got every version of that stuff. My hand blew up like a balloon two days ago. If you saw my hand, you'd think I was 90 years old. Massive repetitive motion syndrome.
  11:36am clarke:

i do the same thing every day: run in the morning and record all day and night
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Listener Baby:

That sounds like fun to me.
  11:37am clarke:

i hear the song that you are singin Baby!!! i could chime in on the choruses...
  11:38am clarke:

of course, this is when the day-job is less
  11:38am clarke:

in the winter, the day-gig goes from 7 days a week to 1
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Hughie Considine:

Love the image of moving the furniture aside to make a recording. Your show is always deeply educational, so thanks, Michael.
  11:57am Marc Grobman:

Re: XERF: When I was a kid in central Colorado in the early 1960s, AM signals reached far! Rock stations WOKC in Oklahoma City and XERF, Villa Acuna, Mexico came booming in as strong as any local stations! "Superstations" in the US broadcast with a maximum of 50,000 watts, but XERF, just over the Texas border, had 250,000, aimed at a US audience. It broadcasted preachers giving sermons, but later on Wolfman Jack would come on. He was the one who intro'd me to Bobby "Blue" Bland.

So cool to hear about Bruce Channel's "Hey Baby." That was a favorite of mine back then. A subtle blend of blues, rockabilly, and pop.
  11:58am clarke:

nice one dude!!!
  12:04pm Guy Walker:

HILDAGO, yes, I immediately thought the same thing and a bit of Otis Rush. A song Los Lobos must be aware of, because it is their kind of shuffle.
  12:04pm clarke:

get off it Baby!!!
  12:05pm clarke:

he must be pruning away
  12:06pm clarke:

frank - it's all star week for you, right???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Frank In Queens:

Nah, it's a weekend of from hockey for me. I never watch the All-Star Game. It's a bastardized version of the game. Sometimes the skills competition is fun the night before, but I'm going to see a show tonight, and music ALWAYS beats out hockey.
  12:09pm clarke:

right-o!! so, similar to nba
  12:10pm clarke:

who you seein'??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm norske jersey boy:

Double Bucky and Sweet - this is a good night - thanks from Norway Michael!
Avatar 12:14pm Tennessee Jeb:

Have to associate Ferlin with the Honky Tonky radio girl. You and Becky together on a show a little while back. one of my favorites.
  12:17pm clarke:

wilko johnson
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Frank In Queens:

@clarke, it's a reunion show for a few local bands. The Little Killers, Some Action, and the band that Todd is having perform on his show today, Tie Reds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Frank In Queens:

This reminds me that I need to play my Dr. Feelgood albums again real soon.
  12:19pm clarke:

where's all this goin' on?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Frank In Queens:

Union Pool.
  12:19pm clarke:

frank there is a great RockPalast tv show with feelgood on youtube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Frank In Queens:

I've seen it! It's great!
  12:21pm clarke:

rockpalast cracks me up - whatever band is on the stage plays an absolutely killer show - and then the audience gives a lite golf clap.
  12:23pm clarke:

keep in mind all the rising sons stuff was re-issued 25 years ago on the Arf Arf label
  12:24pm clarke:

and THAT is now a rarity!
  12:28pm Doc Rock:

Rising Storm or Rising Sons!?
  12:29pm clarke:

snooks used to play EVERY tuesday nite at the Bon Temps Roulet on magazine street....ah, i misheard what MS was laying down - Rising Storm
Avatar 12:31pm Melissa Jean:

uhhhhh I disagree. still gets dark early, leave them lights up!
  12:31pm DG:

That Rising Storm track is a cover of the song by the famous Boston band the Remains...it's on the Nuggets compilation.
  12:32pm Zetti:

maxed volume
Avatar 12:32pm Melissa Jean:

Winona didn't take down her lights ;>)-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Frank In Queens:

That is completely not the consensus of most Stranger Things fans, BTW. Most people feel that S2 fell a bit short of S1. I like both, but S1 a bit more. It's a fun show that doesn't require much brain power to watch. There's also the nostalgic factor, which if you're of a certain age, you can appreciate on a different level.
  12:36pm clarke:

i feel that North is the last credible costello album
  12:38pm clarke:

it DOES sound like jerry lawler on vox tho
Avatar 12:38pm Michael Shelley:

Brutal Youth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Uncle Michael:

I do not hear The Mouth of the South.
  12:38pm Andy in berlin:

yeah no way this the Gentrys
  12:43pm clarke:

that IS brutal!!!
Avatar 12:48pm marc15:

Hello Michael, I just wanted to tell you that "Paris 1919" by John Cale, that you played two weeks ago, is my new favorite song

Good show as always Michael! Everyone enjoy your weekend!
  1:00pm DG:

That was made to scare robbers? Because they'd get to a house, hear that for a minutes & get bored to death? For a few seconds, I actually thought it was Nichols & May doing odd accents...
