"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

John, you know Blues Traveler has NEVER been played on FMU? You could be the first! I suggest "But Anyway".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am melinda:

Hi John and all. That would be funny if the first FMU Blues Traveler happened now. But it would totally ruin the vibe.
Avatar 9:16am northguineahills:

I think John could make it fit in thematically or w/ a clever segue.
  9:19am St Joe:

This is what I hear in my head trying to sleep every night.
  9:21am Geronimo:

Wfmu is a safe space where we can be free of blues traveler
Avatar 9:23am northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Planet Tyler:

Wait this is definitely not JM in the AM
Avatar 9:25am Chris from DC:

My computer wants me to restart because of updates. Not while Gate is playing, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am rsj:

wow this is great
Avatar 9:26am D. Lightfoot:

Good morning fellow proles
Avatar 9:27am John Allen:

hey everyone!
Avatar 9:28am northguineahills:

@Planet Tayler: *snert!* That happens every time when I see John is on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Planet Tyler:

@north - it's a brilliant show name. But only us lucky metro-area peeps get to know the joke
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am MD:

Good Morning Freedom Fighters! Get Your Marching Boots on! Time to hit the Streets in NYC Again!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am MD:

And A fine Morning it is!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am melinda:

@Planet Tyler online listeners would hear a tiny sliver of JM in the AM at the very end of the show before 9:00. Not knowing the full history of the station I thought it was a 15-second parody segment of a show, like Jim Price's 1-minute show.
Avatar 9:46am northguineahills:

@Planet Tyler: I'm no longer in NYC, but just moved south after 17 years, so, yeah, it gives me a chortle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am steveo:

Good morning JA, et al. Nick Carter is awesome. I've never heard a Blues Traveler song but I'm guessing it's never been played here for a reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am Planet Tyler:

JM in the AM has a strange place in my heart although I have to say, I would make myself listen to it as punishment for staying up all night back in the day...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am Planet Tyler:

@Melinda - I'm sure that was confusing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Planet Tyler:

Anyone who listens to SSD would probably know who Nachum is too. Plus he's been in some FMU videos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am steveo:

During the time I was working from home it really felt like Friday when he closed with that sabbath song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, JA. Happy Federal Government Shutdown Eve.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am BronwynB:

good morning JA and everyone
  10:24am Mark R:

Lots of trippy, spacey guitar--always a good thing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am Joe D.:

this is really cool, it's like Steely Dan without all the tedious arguing about whether or not it's worth listening to
Avatar 10:26am John Allen:

yeah, Steely Dan feeds into a lot of guilt
  10:30am queems:

i misread blue gas as beegees and it almost made sense
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am melinda:

queems me too!
  10:44am AndyP:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am adampsyche:

  10:55am Mark R:

Apparently the U.S. Girls have another new album coming out next month called "In a Poem Unlimited." They're quite prolific, aren't they?
Avatar 10:55am Linda Lee:

  10:56am Mark R:

I'm really digging especially the last 15 minutes or so...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am George of Troy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am steveo:

i have a copy of this record here also and I am rubbing it on my calves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am karlward:

Wait--is this Royal Trux?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am karlward:

OK, so I know this is not Royal Trux, but I am currently imagining them covering this and it is glorious.
Avatar 11:19am Jersey Cowboy:

Thanks JA - loving all of this...
Avatar 11:27am Mayor Frank:

If you will it, it is no dream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Polyus:

I never cared about this band back in the day, but I have to admit, my girlfriend's undying love for them finally won me over to their side.
  11:30am jt:

..saw them in '97
  11:34am jt:

..or was it 1995? hazy here...

You make it sound so illicit John.
Avatar 11:56am John Allen:

it was a pre internet/ cash transaction Polyus
  11:58am jt:

discogs has it for for only $888
Avatar 11:59am John Allen:

someone should jump on it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm coelacanth∅:

the internet has de-valued many of my records. it's okay i guess because it also made things i couldn't afford before affordable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks John
Avatar 12:03pm Beth the Martian:

The internet also brings WFMU here to the hinterlands. NO station here is going to play this music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm steveo:

$888? That'd pay for several trips through the Holland Tunnel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm coelacanth∅:

at least 3 or 4 right, steve?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm coelacanth∅:

true Beth. i used to factor in whether i could receive wfmu when i looked for a new dwelling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm steveo:

limbo time is going well today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm steveo:
