Wooo! Happy to hear this show tonight right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am Scraps:

Okay, I missed the last Tenderness Junction, with "This Train by Girls at Our Best, and Stew(!), and Jayne Cortez(!!), =among others=.... and I will try to not miss Tenderness Junction again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am Scraps:

Avatar 12:12am mark1981:

hey y'all!!! happy to be here.
  12:12am rw:

Hello! I believe this is my first Tenderness Junction.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Kat in Chicago:

It is my first for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Kat in Chicago:

I like Detroit ish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Scraps:

Not to make Mark move away from me on the Group W Bench, but looking at her previous playlists, this is what I come to WFMU for. Half of these playlists could be from my music -- and the other half I will listen to pretty damn closely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am Scraps:

(okay, not half... you know what i'm sayin')
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, Mark V. Do you have a go-bag of records/CDs ready to bring to the station when called upon on short notice? Or do you pick out selections from the library once you arrive?
Avatar 12:28am mark1981:

@Ken, I pick selections when I arrive. And I try to follow my gut/ mood/ mind/ heart/ etc
Avatar 12:29am mark1981:

@Scraps so glad yr enjoying the Junction!
  12:30am grtyvr:

are there podcast versions of the shows?
Avatar 12:30am mark1981:

@grtyvr, you can use the wfmu app and save shows from archives so you can listen to them whether yr connected to internet or not
  12:31am grtyvr:

@mark1981 great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Scraps:

so 80s!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Scraps:

(and yet it's 1999!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks for the explanation. It's fun to hear sounds of Detroit tonight. Aside from airport layovers, I've never spent time there.
  12:40am Ike:

Is that V a Roman numeral? Mark the Fifth of what? LOL
Avatar 12:45am mark1981:

Oh it's the letter V!
Avatar 12:45am mark1981:

oh it's the letter V!
  12:54am sufferwords:

Bloods and Crips? i thought they were a figment of my imagination- i hung with them once, seriously, and Computer Love is special music in the most extreme way
  12:56am Bobby:

I should not like this song, but it is having its way with me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am Kat in Chicago:

What's not to like?
Avatar 12:58am mark1981:

@sufferwords, even figments of our imagination are real, eh? I love this song, Piru Love
  1:00am sufferwords:

imagine 40 strong crew of these guys at a rehearsal studio , COLE, in hollywood, 95?- fuckers in LA were outrageous across the board - happening days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Kat in Chicago:

I don't know what just happened but that was awesome
Avatar 1:06am mark1981:

@Kat, crazy eh? I don't know either ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Scraps:

I haven't heard Tennessee in... twenty years?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am Andrew Waterloo:

This just feels like a hot summer day watching music videos.
Avatar 1:11am mark1981:

@Andrew, that's def like remembering listening to the radio in Detroit for me! Word!
  1:14am Bobby:

This is all hitting the spot. I’m old enough. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am Scraps:

Avatar 1:37am mark1981:

@Kat they are so much fun!
  1:43am yippie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am Scraps:

  1:45am Bobby:

Avatar 1:46am mark1981:

@Bobby, BOOM! @Scraps, Protomartyr are constantly in my ear these days, love that album so much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46am Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am Scraps:

Bobby, you and me!
Avatar 1:47am mark1981:

I was felt like the request for demystification was so reasonable and sweet of Zounds!
Avatar 1:48am mark1981:

*I always felt...
  1:50am Bobby:

I love it, too, Scraps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am Scraps:

I so loved this song on a Rough Trade comp that I bought a Zounds import knowing nothing else when was 20 or so. I bought every Rough Trade comp ever since they put out Wanna Buy a Bridge and it changed my life
  1:54am Bobby:

Great comp, Scraps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57am Scraps:

in fact you played Red Krayola's "Born in Flames" in another Tenderness Junction which was another one that Rough Trade open my ears to in a comp.... Girls At Our Best, another... ANYway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59am Scraps:

Bobby, I still think Wanna Buy a Bridge is the best various artist reissue ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03am Scraps:

My mom calls me Scraps. :-)
  2:05am Bobby:

Scraps, I’m especially entranced by the Kleenex and Raincoats tracks. Or just Kleenex and The Raincoats in general.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am Scraps:

I seen it; it's the album cover, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10am Scraps:

Bobby, I don't know why, but I took years to get into Kleenex/Liliput. Which I did, eventually. Raincoats I got right away, though I'm weird (apparently) for liking the second and third (vinyl only; the CD loses four tracks, bizarrely) Raincoats albums more than the first.
  2:11am erm:

what a lovely track, mark
  2:13am erm:

that was a weird evolution, I like it.
  2:15am Bobby:

Scraps, Odyshape is awesome. I love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am Scraps:

oh yeah
  2:16am Bobby:

Mark, Scraps, all: Thanks and goodnight! East Coast bedtime.
Avatar 2:17am mark1981:

goodnight @Bobby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17am Scraps:

bye! yeah, i'm on the west coast
  2:19am ?:

Avatar 2:19am mark1981:

ha! @?
Avatar 2:20am coelacanth∅:

  2:21am erm:

this music is terrifying Mr. mark
Avatar 2:21am coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24am Scraps:

any goldschlager is too much, bleah
  2:25am erm:

you creep me out Mr. mark, this is not nice
  2:25am Kat in Chicago:

Goldschlager! LOLLL
Avatar 2:25am coelacanth∅:

goldshlager= not a wise thing to drink much of
Avatar 2:27am coelacanth∅:

very testy like red hot hearts but not worth it
Avatar 2:27am mark1981:

@erm, I didn't mean to scare you! was it the story about the goldshlager?
  2:28am Kat in Chicago:

I don't think I've even thought about Goldschlager since the 80s
  2:29am erm:

I don't know, suddenly I felt like you were under my bed summoning a ferocious German marmot
Avatar 2:31am mark1981:

@Kat, ha! you've done good then :)
Avatar 2:32am coelacanth∅:

i never even heard of goldschlager before
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am Scraps:

it's cinnamon schnappes with gold flakes in it. no, there's nothing better than that.
  2:43am erm:

Mr. mark I wish we could hang around someday. I like your vibes, pretty strange indeed, but they remind me of a certain character of a Malaysian play I saw back in the 80's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am RomanDogBird:

great show mark, hope to hear from you again soon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am Scraps:

that was fun! thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am Scraps:

And Chris Cutler waves us goodby!
