Busta Move, Baby. Hit us with everything you've got today. This one needs to hurt. And a sincere good morning to all out there. Happy New Year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Frank Above:

Greetings from Sick Bay.
  11:02am clarke:

ahhhh - finally worked my last weekend for a while..
  11:02am clarke:

you illin' frank????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Frank Above:

Yeah, the weather and holiday madness caught up to me :(
  11:04am clarke:

just a wild guess, would it be that chest bug that is going around brooklyn??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Listener Baby:

Repent, Frank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Frank Above:

I actually didn't know there was a bug going around, but yeah. Very irritated lower respiratory action and I'm pretty achy too.
  11:06am clarke:

one thang for shure - it is witch's boobie on the east coast!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Frank Above:

Seriously. Every time I start thinking about moving north, we get a week like this to remind me that would be a very foolish move on my part.
  11:08am clarke:

hey, i had the thing last spring - sad to inform you: IT NEVER LEAVES!! it is going to go on for a while...
i suggest not taking decongestant....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Frank Above:

I never take medicine. It only delays the body fighting off the bugs.
  11:09am clarke:

.. instead try: cayenne and lemon in some apple cider vinegar with some warm water
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Listener Baby:

Frank, you have one week to recover. Need I remind you what goes on in 7 days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Frank Above:

I'm just miserable for 2-3 days and then I start feeling better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Frank Above:

That's my goal Baby. Thankfully, see my last post. That's usually how long I'm out of commission.
  11:10am clarke:

well if it is the same thing - it goes on and on. and on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Listener Baby:

We are counting on you.
  11:11am clarke:

what happens in 7 days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Frank Above:

Thanks Clarke, I'll give it a go. I typically just drown myself in liquids and sweat my ass off to mitigate the healing process. It usually works.
  11:11am Mikey_B:

willie to cypress -> nice
  11:11am clarke:

other than another fab shelley show, that is...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Listener Baby:

World ending, Clarke
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Ken From Hyde Park:

This show is already going insane in the membrane!
Avatar 11:12am Mayor Frank:

Well, Cypress Hill gets a hi Michael and 'FMUers. 8 in Andover, MA and snow on the way, hey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Frank Above:

Is JD singing this song?
  11:13am clarke:

it always was Baby!!!
  11:13am Morgan:

I remember this from the Groove Tube
  11:14am clarke:

MS - how hard is it snowing at studio??
  11:15am clarke:

Avatar 11:16am Michael Shelley:

very light - but steady
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Listener Baby:

Baby, did you just say "Piss Stain"??
  11:16am clarke:

i believe that is the first time i have heard those words together on ze radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Listener Baby:

We would have also accepted Skid Mark.
Avatar 11:18am Michael Shelley:

  11:20am clarke:

wow - how illiterate!! and bongo feets!!!!
Avatar 11:21am glenn:

i missed piss stain. were you talking about trump?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Listener Baby:

If only every band did that, we'd be in better shape. I like "piss stain", but I knew those weren't your words, Baby. It's just doesn't reflect you higher education and upbringing.
  11:23am Pedro in Arlington VA:

I share your mood Mike but maybe, just maybe we saw rock bottom and avoided it when one of the most historically backward states in America refused to elect a credibly accused pedophile lunatic to the Senate. Of course African American women deserve most of the credit. Bless all who work for decency.
Avatar 11:23am Michael Shelley:

Next to the SEX-PISTOLS rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. Your museum. Urine in wine. Were not coming. Were not your monkey and so what? Fame at $25,000 if we paid for a table, or $15000 to squeak up in the gallery, goes to a non-profit organisation selling us a load of old famous. Congradulations. If you voted for us, hope you noted your reasons. Your anonymous as judges, but your still music industry people. Were not coming. Your not paying attention. Outside the shit-stem is a real SEX PISTOL
  11:24am clarke:

i was referring to lydon - not shelley, btw
  11:25am Hackensack Slim:

Hey, I have fond memories of my Grandfather calling me Knucklehead. (As in Knucklehead Smith, Paul Winchell's dummy) Happy New Year, Mike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Listener Baby:

I think we could all agree that Hank Williams Jr, is a dummy. For real.
  11:27am clarke:

  11:33am Doc Rock:

She Pays The Rent = Hand Of Fate!
  11:33am Robbie White:

LOVE the Fab Faux
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Greg from ZONE 5:

With the sizable exception of Finn and New Girl's side story I LOOOVED the new Star Wars!
  11:34am Elias Kirtz:

That movie..it just had absolutely nothing compelling about it. You could see they were trying to "tell a story"..but it just fell completely flat. Formulaic? Is that the word?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Ken From Hyde Park:

I rented Miss Sharon Jones! from the library and I felt it was a nice documentary. I don't care for any of the movies in the movie houses.
  11:36am clarke:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Listener Baby:

Did they take that dude away?
  11:37am clarke:

would not think it was the beatles because of the beatles ban 'fmu had
  11:38am Tommy in Neversink:

Hey , I've heard of them
  11:38am Dean:

Come to think of it, Uncle Michael opened yesterday's show with a late Beatles tune.
Avatar 11:38am Mayor Frank:

!! I was thinking this year is best summed up by that Pastor T.L. Barrett choir song out of Chicago - Like a Ship (Without a Sail).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Listener Baby:

New Years Eve. Going to see Ray Charles, with Blossom Dearie opening up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Frank Above:

Don't really have a tradition. I watch, or attempt to watch the NHL Winter Classic, but that's about it. Actually, my brother won tickets to this year's game at Citi Field, and I was considering going at first, but I'm in no condition to stand out in the bitter cold for several hours on Monday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Adrian in London:

@Ken Yeah, it was a good film, wasn't't it? Saw it the other week
  11:40am clarke:

no frank - that would be a bad idea!!

I think it would be a terrible idea even if I wasn't sick!

  11:52am clarke:

obviously hal on drums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Listener Baby:

I was just going to say that it sure sounds like Dennis on drums.
  11:54am paul:

The Monkey Speaks His Mind
  11:54am clarke:

no dennis is a little more sloshy than hal
  11:55am clarke:

could be dennis on tympani tho
  11:56am clarke:

keep in mind that hal played drums on most of the beach boys stuff in the studio
  11:57am clarke:

oddly hal and denny were BEST FRIENDS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Listener Baby:

Seems the sound of it all was coming from someone who didn't really know how to strike drums. Also, I was getting a real open handed feel from that track. IE. Hitting the hi hat with left hand. But Hal was so good, he could probably do anything. I'm sure we will never know.
  11:59am clarke:

nah - i would use that track to illustrate what hal blaine did
  12:00pm paul:

Netherlands or holland
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Listener Baby:

Baby, this track should be considered, if you get my drift.
  12:01pm clarke:

Michael, have you ever interviewed Mike Watt?
Avatar 12:14pm Mayor Frank:

This gets me every time. #scientistrock
  12:15pm clarke:

the only problem with mike watt interview is that most of his best stories are unsuitable for airplay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm WFMU listener WADE:

What about drummer George Hurley? He was my first drummer idol. He's a really good drummer.

  12:29pm clarke:

frank - if you are couch-bound might i suggest the bbc series Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond
  12:30pm Mark:

The Elvis C version of this would be a great counterpoint.

Was just NEAR Times Sq. in '81 or so & it was a nightmare....we were on line for MTV's New Year's party (a friend got us on "the list" supposedly) and all those drunken people kept coming up to us, asking what we were doing (MTV wasn't in NYC yet, so they thought MTV was some new drug we were waiting for)...and this was 9:30 or so. We never got in to the party (MTV overbooked), so we walked down 8th or 7th Avenue back to Penn, braving hordes of screaming idiots, to go back on the LIRR with more yelling, rowdy kids (I think a fight or two broke out). Fun! If you go to Times Sq. you deserve whatever you get.
