happy happy
  12:05am sfolk16:

cold rain, snow, and a mighty wind blowing through YS, OH as I listen tonight...the fire I made earlier still burns bright though! peace to all on this early Xmas morn!
  12:07am MONEYBAG$:

There has been a Christmas miracle! I can finally tolerate Brent's singing if a show is otherwise good
Avatar 12:07am Jennifer_PNW:

Hey everyone, good evening...
Avatar 12:10am Jeff Conklin:

Morning, all.

Interesting, Moneybags, very interesting...
  12:11am zenkoan:

all is calm, all is bright, not to mention groovy, here in the Ghetto
  12:13am J:

Greetings from Los Angeles, and sick in bed; as if the holidays could get any worse
  12:15am Doc Rock:

Brent’s Singing Was Terrible. The Band Sounded Just OK. We Can’t See On Chat What Year The Gig Was!!
  12:16am SeanG:

ride on my man!
  12:17am MONEYBAG$:

I'm not saying his singing wasn't terrible, please don't misunderstand
Avatar 12:18am Jeff Conklin:

I did not play Brent-era GD fwiw
  12:20am SeanG:

Hello Sweden
  12:22am Doc Rock:

It was BAD Dead & BAD Grape.
We deserve BETTER!!
Avatar 12:23am Jennifer_PNW:

Hmmm, never explored much Hot Tuna before but this is really nice. Is this one of the better albums?
Avatar 12:23am Jeff Conklin:

Door is that way Doc, might i suggest a Doors -themed Pandora station for you ------>
  12:23am sfolk16:

easy Dr. Rock, Santa is still listening.............
Avatar 12:23am Jeff Conklin:

@Jennifer: Yes. Also the first two--Self titled and Burgers...
  12:23am Eartha Lime:

Hi Jeff, thanks for the great music AGAIN. Tonight we actually are listening live here in Oakland.
  12:23am SeanG:

hot tuna sounding good
  12:24am MONEYBAG$:

How bout some BAD quicksilver now
  12:24am Agent Peter:

In the Brent era, Bob's voice was totally shot and Phil wasn't singing for most of it. Plenty of shows from back then were flat as a pancake until Brent added some energy to the stage.
Avatar 12:25am Jennifer_PNW:

Will do. Thanks Jeff.
Avatar 12:25am Jeff Conklin:

Welcome, Eartha
  12:26am Agent Peter:

Jeff - Thanks for showing up on a week when many a DJ bailed, and thanks for playing Jorma, whose voice does not suck.
Avatar 12:26am Jeff Conklin:

Couldn't imagine being anywhere else tonight. Thanks, Peter.
  12:28am SeanG:

can i make a request for "Cross the Breeze" by Sonic Youth??
Avatar 12:29am Jeff Conklin:

You can make all the requests you like, Sean, but I will not honor them. Sorry.
  12:31am Kev in norfoc:

Yo Jeff. It's rare that I get to listen live (just tuned in- not sure if I should be sad I missed the Dead spin it not, based on the board). Anyhoo, thanks for doing what you do - always enjoy jammin to the archives.
Avatar 12:32am Jeff Conklin:

Hey Kev: Don't mind the comments, it was a great GD cut as I don't fuck with anything but...Thanks for joining in
  12:33am Kev in Norfoc:

And spending New Year to all in the Ghetto!!
Avatar 12:33am Jennifer_PNW:

For a brief moment, I thought this was Bobby Beausoleil's "Lucifer Rising".
  12:34am Eartha Lime:

Saw Richard Thompson on the 13th. Show was really great as usual. But he would not play Jorma's Hesitation Blues. Did play Marty Robbins' Big Iron.
  12:35am Kev in norfoc:

Yeah, Jeff - you always seem to bring the dope shit. And that ain't no bull, brother.
Avatar 12:35am Jeff Conklin:

Was that the request show, Eartha? What did he say about Hesitation Blues? Any other deep cuts played?
Avatar 12:38am Jennifer_PNW:

The digital download on Bandcamp for "Peace in the Mountains" in $1,000...
Avatar 12:39am Jeff Conklin:

@Jennifer: They do that so you have to buy the tape. You get a download with it.
  12:46am Prana Sol:

Merry Christmas Jeff, thanks for all the cosmic and rustic beauties you share here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am Michael 98145:

silent night, WFMU night, all is bright
Avatar 12:49am Jeff Conklin:

Hey, William! Welcome, Michael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am Michael 98145:

more salutations from the left coast. thanks for the musics.
  12:54am Eartha Lime:

On the Richard Thompson show, yes it was one of the four in a row request shows. He laughed at the Hesitation request and joked about Northern California bands like that stuff is off the table, and then referenced Moby Grape as something wonderful (snarky British humor?).
  12:57am Prana Sol:

Loved the Plankton Wat, waiting on the copy I ordered :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Michael 98145:

discogs sez E Pluribus Unum was from 1969 ...

Avatar 1:02am franny:

Jeff is chill but gets the most trolls. I'm sending the anti-troll intention herbal bundle into the universe. That is my unsolicited opinion. and action.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Michael 98145:

trolls probably savor the cover of night
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Michael 98145:

btw, this is beautiful
Avatar 1:04am franny:

and music that is ultimately compatible with a more mature sort of disposition...it would be one thing if this were pop-punk hour. I concur this is pretty.
  1:04am rw:

Merry Christmas! Just arrived. No opinions to share but happy to be here and hope everybody’s doing well. Thanks Jeff for coming in on the holiday and sharing the music!
  1:04am MONEYBAG$:

The Brent thing had nothing to do with what you were playing, I had just turned off a show from 1990
Avatar 1:06am Jeff Conklin:

@Money: Ah! Gotcha.
Avatar 1:07am Jeff Conklin:

Do I really get the most trolls??
Avatar 1:07am Jennifer_PNW:

"Dimming of the Day" is a tearjerker...thank you, Jeff.
Avatar 1:09am franny:

I always expect more trolls elsewhere --- I won't say where else...but he's green and stinky and likes tank tops. I've heard some troll action on here about 3 times. Thymes. Let no man steal yours!
  1:10am Eartha Lime:

Here are the setlists for the all-request RT shows.
You put your request on a little green slip and it goes into a bucket. He can pass the chosen slip to an assistant who prints the lyrics. He didn't choose my two minute sea chanty "Santy Anno" by Odetta.
Avatar 1:11am Jeff Conklin:

Thats funny about RT/West Coast as the first two Fairport albums are so indebted to the Airplane. Interesting. thanks for sharing...
Avatar 1:17am Jennifer_PNW:

Beautiful start to Dark Star
  1:19am al:

Best Grateful Dead ive heard in a while. Fits this rain well
Avatar 1:20am Jeff Conklin:

My father may or may not have been at this show. One of the best Dark Stars of the year. Strap yourselves in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am Michael 98145:

sparkling fresh snow up here in our corner
  1:21am Prana Sol:

A Dark Star worthy of being put right on top of the Christmas tree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am Michael 98145:

saw the Dead at the Hollywood Bowl around about that year
Avatar 1:22am Jeff Conklin:

@Michael: Nice! Any memories?
Avatar 1:22am franny:

Avatar 1:23am Jennifer_PNW:

@Prana Sol, So true, a glorious Dark Star at the top of the tree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am Michael 98145:

  1:32am Sparky:

  1:44am blee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am Santos L. Halper:

  1:52am J:

I will be out in the desert, possibly frying my balls off, but will try to tune in
  1:53am anon:

Merry Jerry! Hey now!
Avatar 1:53am Jeff Conklin:

J- that sounds....painful
  1:54am J:

Lucy is like a warm hug from Jah...
  1:54am MONEYBAG$:

  2:23am BEAVO:

  2:36am BEAVO:

I was just going to say that sounds like Dino Valente real name Chet Helms! Never heard his solo stuff
  2:37am BEAVO:

Correction Chet Powers
  2:38am BEAVO:

Chet Helmes is the guy that hitchhiked from Texas to CA with Janis Joplin and was involved in the San Francisco scene
Swag For Life Member 2:42am Mark R:

"If I Could Only Remember My Name" is such a great album--maybe better than anything CSN ever did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50am Jeezy:

@Beavo I been drankin since 4PM but I found this stuff online, Morning Recovery, (google it!) and it's actually workin' to put the kebosh on the hangovers! This is an awesome show btw, Jeff...
