Good evening, Daniel! You are providing a fine soundtrack for our cookie baking festivities this evening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm fleep:

Daniel, we are about 20 miles from the ultrahuge fire, there is a thin layer of ash everywhere, and the winds have shifted back so the air smells smoky again. But no danger here.

melinda i've still never seen a single episode of Star Trek
Avatar 10:56pm still b/p:

I always imagine if I had a hose with good pressure in hand and one came over, well, yeah...the fatal shpritz-shot. Funny how the sound of one in the air nearby is already quickly identifiable without long experience. "Hey, hey, hey...who's...?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm melinda:

@ steve no interest, or just not gotten around to it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm steve:

the latter for like the past decade! i always wonder where to start!
Avatar 10:59pm coelacanth∅:

as far as i'm concerned if a drone's within distance that a camera on board could make out your face, it's fair game.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm melinda:

Just start at the very beginning!
Avatar 11:01pm coelacanth∅:

i'd very much like to watch every star trek episode (original series only) from the beginning. i don't have a way to do that.
...i haven't seen one in several decades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm fleep:

there will be good drones and bad drones. one carrying vital medical supplies should be left alone. perhaps they'll be a special color.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm steve:

haha ok. that sounds reasonable. i'll let you know how it goes. i have a stay at home vacation ahead and need to stay entertained as i lay on the couch for days on end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm steve:

Avatar 11:05pm still b/p:

Original Star Trek is shown around here and I caught several in recent months, for a closer look than I'd had in years, noticing how crude the sets are, noticing how many stories are similar. Lots of notes and laughs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm melinda:

I think I stopped halfway through the 2nd season.
Avatar 11:06pm coelacanth∅:

fleep, that's okay, as long as they advise us via our telescreens that a medical drone is flying in the area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm melinda:

I love the crude sets.

On one of the extra Channel 8/WMTW slots that you get even with just antenna. 8-1 and 8-3 are regular broadcast; 8-2 and 8-4 are both the Heroes and Icons(!) channel. Don't know if it's still scheduled, but they've been showing Trek shows thru the evening, starting with original at an early hour and on through the other series.
They also show 80s TV series that are unwatchable....Hunter and Renegade, which I never saw a single minute of in their day. A few other old shows of interest here and there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm Scraps:

Well, fog on Rainier is probably dangerous. Many many things are dangerous on Rainier. Every year some people get killed on Rainier....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm melinda:

I'll look for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Scraps:

Avatar 11:27pm coelacanth∅:

ha Thanks Scraps! i never knew why she'd lie to me; it's just that other people i know said i was capable enough to do it in the fog. (maybe she was actually worried!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Scraps:

Polychronopoulos is a great name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Ike:

@Steve@11:05, those 3 seasons are the entirety of the original 60s Star Trek -- it only lasted that long before NBC unceremoniously canned it, and then it became famous in off-network reruns. Watch "Where No Man Has Gone Before" first, it's supposed to be first. Much of the show is horrifyingly sexist but it was revolutionary for space sci-fi TV at the time.
Avatar 11:31pm coelacanth∅:

is that the pilot? and did the pilot have captain pike? (or am i confused)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm steve:

nice, thanks Ike
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Ike:

@c∅: The failed first pilot was "The Cage" with Capt. Pike. NBC executives were like, "What's this brainy shit? Where are the fistfights and monsters?" "Where No Man..." is the successful pilot #2, w/plenty of fistfights. Then the dingbat executives at NBC shuffled the episodes and aired a couple of dumber ones first, and that's been the accepted episode order ever since. (You can watch them in almost any order, really.)
Avatar 11:37pm JakeGould:

I can barely watch that first episode of “Star Trek” because THE… WAY… THEY… MADE… SPOCK… TALK… DRIVES… ME… NUTS…!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm Ike:

Avatar 11:39pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Did you see the new “Star Wars?” Chewbacca accidentally disables the Millennium Falcon when he installs a Bitcoin miner in the ships main computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm fleep:

The spaceship we're on right now has a few problems in the engine room.

Daniel, what the hell is this, I love it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm Daniel Blumin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The fuzz over the 90.1 signal is creeping in over the stream. I'm sure of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Bobby Whirlwind:

Compliments to the pilot
Avatar 11:44pm JakeGould:

Also, after the pilot, they really learned how to keep the voice and tone, like when Abe Lincoln beams on-board: youtu.be...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm George of Troy:
